    Sound Deadner Review

There is a lot of good info on here, but not much in the way of actual results. So here is the products that I have ran Dynamat Original, Dynamat extreme, Edead, Fatmat, Fatmat Xtreame, Fatmat Rattle trap XXX, Zilla mat, B-Quite, hushmat, and now Second Skin. Dynamat original is good but you have to it to get it to stick, but once in place it is good to go. I would not use this on roofs, or trunk lids, or doors, just on you floors. No mess at all with this stuff. Dynamat Extreme works great can be installed any temp sticks great. This stuff can be messy while installing, and will cut you up pretty good since the metal backing is so thin. Edead do not recommend this stuff is asphalt needs to be heated up to stick, and falls when it gets above 100 degrees outside. This stuff can be messy while installing. This stuff can be messy while installing. Fatmat do not recommend this stuff is asphalt needs to be heated up to stick, and falls when it gets above 100 degrees outside. This stuff can be messy while installing. This stuff can be messy while installing. This is the same stuff as Edead, maybe a little bit better quality in the foil, but that is it. Fatmat rattletrap XXX is ok but still do not recommend this. You will have to heat this up to get it to stick good, as it is half butyl and half asphalt. But, it holds up in 100 degree temp outside. But if it is above 100 degrees outside for long periods like 12 hours in the sun, it will start to sag in places. This stuff can be messy while installing. Fatmat extreme works great can be installed in any temp. Sticks like a SOB. It is almost impossible to get it off when it is stuck to metal, and forget it if you stick it to its self. Zilla mat do not recommend this stuff is asphalt needs to be heated up to stick, and falls when it gets above 100 degrees outside. This stuff can be messy while installing. This stuff can be messy while installing. This is the same stuff as Edead, someone told me that is the same company just a different name used on packaging. B-Quite is ok but still do not recommend this. It is almost the exact same thing as Fatmat rattletrap XXX. You will have to heat this up to get it to stick good, as it is half butyl and half asphalt. But, it holds up in 100 degree temp outside. But if it is above 100 degrees outside for long periods like 12 hours in the sun, it will start to sag in places. This stuff can be messy while installing. Hushmat is good can be applied at any temp. Unlike most companies that bounce the sound back at you and can help gain you DBs on the microphone. This one does not increase your sound it actually absorbs sound. This stuff can be messy while installing. Second Skin works great and can be installed at any temp. This stuff sticks just as good as, if not better then the Fatmat extreme. The nice thing about this stuff is that it has easy clean up and no mess left behind. Plus it is thicker than any of the other mats that I have mentioned. In comparison to Dynamat it is about 1.5 times thicker, so 2 layers of this is like 3 layers of Dynamat. IMO, I would have to say that Second Skin takes the cake when it comes to sound damping material, for all bang for your dollar. I would have to say that Fatmat extreme is in close second, with Dynamat Extreme in third, and in forth would be Dynamat original but only if used on floors. As for the rest mentioned please don’t waste your money to save a buck or two. Spend a little more and get something that works good the first time around. I know that there is a few that have not been mentioned, but I have not personally tried them. Right now I will only be using Second Skin in all future installs, as well as cars I do for someone else. I am tired of helping someone put in cheap product and to have them come back a month later saying I did something wrong, because it is now sagging down.
  6. I think it is still going on. Ant is waiting on the correct stuff to come in. He had to send back the first batch as it was the wrong stuff.

What's the best way to build a box?

Your first box will look like shit since you have not done it before. But I use screws and liquid nails. Or just wood glue if I have time.

    BIG 3??

That is a good link man.
  10. I have decided to go with Selenium ST350 Super Tweeter, and Selenium 6W4P 6" woofer. I will be running thes active and have a copule of questions about them. First question: one being will it sound ok to mount the woofer in the stock door, and the tweeter in the stock dash. I will have to modify the dash a little bit, since the hole right now is 4", and mounting of the tweeter is 4.25". Will it sound good with it located up there? Next question: Since this is my first active setup, I dont want it to sound like shit. So, how do you guys block the mid sound from going to your tweeters? and stop the real lows and real higs from going to the mids? I will be running a MB Quart DSC 4125 to the mids and tweets and a Alpine CDA-9887 for the HU. Next question: I was told to hook the mid up to the front RCAs, and the tweeter to the rear RCAs. Is that the correct thing when running active? Will it have any effect on the sound since sometimes songs play each speaker seperately?

1.Burbarry I qualify to the terms and agree to follow through with them as they are written above. 2006 Chrysler 300 with 2 12"AQ's anf 2 USAMPS, rainbow mids. Just look at signature for more info. I currently attend about 20 car shows a year along with 10-20 stereo shows a year. I will post my build log on here, ROE.com, motortopia.com, layitlow.com, cardomain.com, caraudioclassifids.org. I started up a saltwater fish tank. Some might think oh well but it is a 10 gallon which is a lot harder to take care of then a bigger fish tank.

    Fi Q Minimum RMS?

LOL you beat me to it I was going to say 1 watt. Oh well.
  13. Why do you need it to be 1.5 ohm? What are you running? but I agree with KU40 just buy a amp that puts out more and turn gain down till your at 1500.

They also make a good mid and tweeter that gets loud. These are very efficent speakers so you don't need to run a lot of watts to get them loud.

    Alpine CDA-9887

Brand: Apline Model: CDA-9887 Rating: I would give it a 5 out of 5 Pros: Ok, so I just go my new head unit put in and it has 10 times better sound output then my last deck a Clarion VRX755 (which is a DVD/CD player). I think some of it might be going from 2 volt preouts to 4 volt preouts. But, I figured that wouldn't matter since I was running (and still am running) a line driver. Cons: The only thing I see being a con is if you are not sure how panoramic and graphic EQ’s work it could be a problem, along with setting the time delay by ear. But they take care of that if you have the mic for the sound imprint feature. Other then that I would say there is no problems with it. Overall Opinion: I have never ran Alpine CD players before, but I now see what all the hype is about. For the last 7-10 years I have always ran Clarion. I mean don't get me wrong there easy to use, and last forever. Before that I was running Pioneers they worked great but every time you hit the 2 year mark the sound outputs would go out. Now I did have a Eclipse back in the day It was awesome till someone stole it, But I got the last laugh on that one since you had to have a correct CD to start it up and like after 5 wrong times it locked you out. Now I just can’t wait to figure out what I am going to do with my mids to take advantage of the sound imprint feature. I am half tempted to go pay to get it done now until I get my mids figured out. It is basically a mic that you hook up to your laptop and it goes in with a program and makes it the best sound possible for the driver and front passenger; using the time delay and sound processer, and EQ. Anyhow I would recommend the Alpine CDA-9887 to anyone that wants better sound quality.

I have a HU Alpine 9887 going in her car. Like I said the $300 is just for the mids, tweets, and crossover if needed.

I am going to do the same setup in her car as I have in my car, since it is pretty much the same thing. 4th order in trunk firing through the rear deck. No rears, and I will probally do 1 nice set of 2 way mids or 2 half way nice sets of 2 way mids. Since my 3-way's (rainbow) are nice but don't get loud enough for me. Depending on how hers turns out I will be replacing mine with the same.
