Lanzar's Opti Drive line can run at .5 ohm and are cheap. Last I heard they were still pretty good (unlike everything else they make), but it's been a while, anyone know?

That makes sense, I thought you were leaving the inside uncarpeted, like it is now. It still looks great! Please tell me you're keeping that checkered bench seat, it fits that build so well.

Box looks good, I almost wonder if it would fit the theme better by covering it in vinyl as opposed to the carpet, or go with a rougher outdoor style carpet instead of the smooth audio carpet. Still love the truck, glad it drives nice.

With fresh noodles it becomes way better. Also try a dried sausage of some sort instead of the pepperoni. Pepperoni is this blasphemous retardation of something that is naturally awesome. I'm having a hard time processing the concept that pepperoni is NOT awesome. Maybe some time in the future when I grow as a person I can accept these words you typed, but for now I'm just not strong enough... (not that I'm not willing to try fresh noodles and dried sausage instead of pepperoni, because I am) There is a reason we are about the only country in the world that eats pepperoni. It isn't because the pork and the spices that are in it are bad either. Just our chemical lazy way of manufacturing and not being able to deal with a real slow cure. That being said I have seen boutique pepperoni that is made correctly and fuck yeah, it's awesome. All the greazy nasties go away when produced right, the flavors develop further and all around there are no negatives. One hint to a good one. You'll have to cut it yourself and the outside of it won't look savory. I fry it lightly in a pan to extract the grease and blot with half a dozen paper towels, glad to read there is much better available, but curing takes time and time is money so I wouldn't be surprised to learn the US uses chemicals to do it cheap and fast- the main problem with chicken. My food budget is pretty limited these days, but I'll have to keep a look out for "real" pepperoni.

I have been bitten by the cooking bug lately, last night was my first lasagna ever... Heavy cream, Parmesan and Romano cheese, nutmeg, garlic white sauce with buttery spinach and lightly fried peperoni (gotta get the grease out of it) layers between the noodles and topped with 2 cups mozzarella, sliced Roma tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Damn folks it was really, really good.

If you really are trying to learn, check out bcae1.com Ohms only affect how much resistance the amps sees, there is no difference in the way it would sound.

LOL too funny, I just wished I saw something with supertweeters, like "wow, those supertweeters blend so well with the 4 pairs of 6X9s in the fiberglassed door panels!"

I roasted some potatoes, onions, and sweet peppers with sage, sea salt, parsley, oregano, and crushed black pepper. Seared and baked some chicken breast, served on toasted Bolio roll with provolone- wow that was an awesome sandwich. Very rustic, although I wasn't in love with the provolone, might try something different next time.

If I had the need I'd much rather pay $300 for a used JL 1000/1v1 than a new HiFonics- which is a really good budget amp.

Gene Rosen of Sandy Hook Shooting Rehearsal Video
SS Teacher replied to Sencheezy's topic in Off Topic
I was so pissed to find out I was lied to by the media, handguns were used, NOT an assault rile. I shouldn't be surprised the media lies and manipulates, but damn I was mad because I actually believed an AR 15 was used. I love how NY has citizens living in tents months after Sandy, but they rush a Draconian gun ban bill in days which doesn't even provide exceptions for law enforcement! My wife's uncle is fed up, they're planning on getting their finances in order and leaving the state. -
It's going to be a ton cheaper to order the subs in a dual 1ohm configuration that will let that amp see a 1 ohm load. Getting more than a 2000 watts to a 2 ohms load is expensive, just make sure you have done electrical upgrades. What does your electrical system consist of?
-
I get the same "no permission" as Notorious...hmmm?

OP 1. if you're doing research, please do NOT pay any attention to customer reviews at websites like Sonic Electronix and Crutchfield, most of them are complete idiots. 2. with a limited budget you would probably be better off buying one sub rather than 2. ie 1 12" is cheaper and almost as loud as 2 10"s, or 1 15" instead of 2 12"s. 3. your budget has to include installation gear, like a line out converter (LOC), power cable, RCA's, fuses, and speaker wire. 4. your box will play a huge roll in the quality of your subs output, make sure it is built correctly.
-
Bypass the fuse box and wire directly to the battery? Not sure if that's a good idea though...

Aaron, we love you for giving us this awesome site. The complaining is only because we care about the great quality we have grown accustomed to, thank you so much for all you do.

If your last name really is Swift, than wow! how completely appropriate. Love the rides, great to see the MOPAR.

I want to retire from teaching with a full pension at 55, but I don't think my wife's spending habits will allow that. Fed up with all the b.s. and politics with education and will probably go into the culinary field when I hit 55.

I'm too big for Mustangs and Camaros, I can barely get in them and I have two teenaged daughters. I LOVE my Challenger!
-
On a budget I'd recommend a Boston Acoustics GT 2125 for a single sub and a GT 2200 for a two sub setup. Check out Sonic Electronix, they are 110 and 150. You'll run them bridged into 2 ohms so make sure your sub(s) can be wired to that load.

Looking good so far with those 45s. Damn, I wish more of my students did their homework, but than I teach high school.

Welcome, there is plenty of great stuff in the forum and the store!

If your amp "can't even push it" something is definitely wrong. What are the settings on the amp? And more importantly, tell us about your box.

just picked up a pair of 10" dcons need help with a box design
SS Teacher replied to oakteg21's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Designing a box smaller to handle more power can be tricky, you are much better off designing the box around what's best for the sub and then turning down the gain on the amp. Listen for funny noises and be alert to any burning smells when you're putting that much power to those subs.
