Update!! Ok well went to work this morning and by 9am I was back home. It started off annoying but a little after 2pm DHL made a stop by the house. Gave my me second order of SS products. 72ft^2 of damp pro 6ft^2 of damp, and 18ft^2 of the lux liner. So as you can imagine I've been rather busy today enjoying my day off with work of another kinda, lol... On with the pics! Down to bare metal... Getting there... The damp pro is a lot thicker then I thought it would be!! If I have enough I might go back through and do my doors with it if I have enough. Plan on taking out the seat and doing the whole floor some time as well. Probably during the weekend. I need to get some star drive to take out the seat with. Probably pick them up tomorrow and then hopefully work on it some more this weekend. So be on the lookout for more pictures Also should add that I got the rainbows installed. They sound amazing, still tweaking my HU a little though. Can't wait to throw some real power on them!! Also had JUST enough wire, if I would of gotten a foot less I would of come up short, lol. Gotta love it when stuff works out just perfect. I'll get some pictures of them later tonight when I go and put the truck back together. Ended up putting the tweets up on the dash, lost the stock look but owell, I'll live. Jon

Well got some wire last night so I decided to run some of it tonight. I don't think I got enough though, 50ft of 16ga. Probably pick up some more tomorrow in town if I have time. Finally figured out were I'm putting both my tweets and my crossovers so pictures should be coming soon. Didn't really do anything worthy of pictures tonight. Still plan on gutting the truck so I can fully damp it once that stuff gets here, deffenetly a weekend project!! So the build is still coming, slowly but surly!! Be on the lookout for more updates and more pictures! Jon

You know you can come over and work on it for me any time you like. I'll even provide beer and hot dogs!! lol. My damp pro should be shipped out Monday so hopefully I can get back to work on the truck next weekend. Still really impressed by the output of my stocks right now, so much better then before. Can't wait to get the rainbows in!!!!!!!! Jon

Yes the inner panels were done. They were a pain to do!!! I'm not realy sure if I'll be doing the floor or not. Really all depends on how much SS I have left over. I want to do the whole roof and the back wall and then I'll see what I have left over. If their is enough I'll do the floor as well. Jon

Well I have some good news!! Got a PM from the guy who I'm getting the rest of the SS from, turns out he didn't have any more damp only has damp pro. So he says if I cover the shipping I'll get the damp pro for the same price as I paid for the regular damp!!! I'm pretty pumped, saving a ton of money and have even better product!!! I didn't get any more work done today, buddy of mine rolled his truck so I had to go and take care of that, ended up being an all afternoon deal. Hopefully I can get the truck back together this weekend, right now I'm down to bare metal and some SS. Looks rough but it deffenetly sounds a lot better!! Jon

Well did a major stroke of work tonight!! Very very happy with the amount of work that got done. Both doors have a full coat of SS and the baffles for the rainbows are made and ready to go in. Had a buddy of mine come over and help me work on it which saved me a ton of time!! Didn't really get any pictures though but I did take this one, Both doors look just like this. Did a little test with the stock speakers. I was very happy with the improvement they showed. The midbass was much stronger and actully pressent when before I had no real midbass to speak of. Very excited to get the rainbows in there and see how they perform!!! I'll probably be getting some wire tomorrow so be on the lookout for more pictures. This project is moving alone very well and so far I'm quite pleased. Even have a extra 10^2 left over from my first batch of SS. The rest of the SS will go in the truck on every place I can get it. Still not real sure about tweeter placement, I'm trying to think up a really cool mounting system that will set the truck apart from any other truck but still maintain a some-what stock look. Jon Jon

    why recone different sizes

Ouch! lol. Well considering my motor is to strong for the basket I think I'm safe Jon
  13. kickerlivinloud

    why recone different sizes

Or some people like to take subs with huge motors and put them on as small of basket as they can physical can. (points at self!!) One of these days I'll get the XXX and Brahma motors into 10"s. One of these days. Can we say beefy??? Jon

All right here are the pictures... These are all of the rainbows... And some shots of the deadener and my door before anything went it. I used some low expansion foam spray in the door for spots I knew would cause trouble and would need extra help. Pain in the ass reaching back there and I'm having trouble fitting something over that large whole. Its not all one 1 plan so its a pain. I have some weather striping tape I'm using and I'll then seal it up after that with some stuff, not really sure yet but it'll be sealed tight by the time I'm done. Sorry for the blurry pics, didn't realize they were that bad.. Jon

    Project F-150 be quite

Well I've come to the conclusion that deadening is a pain in the ass. I got the outer shell of the door done but thats all. A buddy of mine came over and distracted me from my work. Wish I could just take the door apart, would make life SOO much easier!!! I took a good amount of pictures which I'll try and get up tonight but most likely they'll be up tomorrow some time. Comps are a lot smaller then I thought they'd be. Almost worries me that they are so small. From surround to surround they are only 4" wide, little suckers. I thought I was given the wrong stuff at first but the specs on it match the specs for the 5.25" set so I guess they are just that small. Hopefully I'll get some more work done tomorrow after work. Really really glad I picked up that second 40ft^2 b/c this stuff is going quick, lot quicker then I ever thought! Jon

    Regular Cab Box build...

To bad it was usless. I put the box in the truck and tried both the Mag and the Sonic. Both lacked output and authority in all regions of the "bass" range. From 20Hz to 60Hz I was not impressed at all. Really pisses me off b/c I spent some much time on it. It had more authority in the upper range which makes me wonder if I screwed up with the tuning. So long story quick this build fails as well. Really pissing me off b/c this is the second build I've had fall totally on its face. Jon

    Regular Cab Box build...

Its annoying but I have to do it b/c the seat touches the box. I don't feel like risking the sub over something stupid like that. Not real sure when I'll get this bulid done. I don't have the ambition to finish it lately, lol. Maybe I'll knock some more off this week. Right now its just the painting that needs to be done. all the construction is done. Maybe I'll throw the box in tonight and see how it sounds. I've been wanting to try out "bass I love you" but my current box isn't really designed for low end. Hopefully the new one will pick up were the old one left off. Jon

    Regular Cab Box build...

Update!! Sorry for the delay. Its been a really busy week for me and I haven't had a lot of time to work on this. Made a good amount of progress today as you will soon see in the form of pictures!! Guts: Port: Hmmm Round over port!!! Got the front baffle finished and on! What do these letters mean??? Now were looking like something familiar Front baffle... Hmmm, whats all this white stuff for???? And thats it for pictures for tonight. I have something up my sleeve for the finish but that will be a secret! If it all comes out how I hope it will be very flashy and very "cool" looking. You'll just have to hang with me as the finish might take some time (nothing like watching paint dry, lol) comments, concerns, ideas????? Jon

    New speaker setup...

That might change as well. All really depends on how the output is from the mag. Still trying to build up the ambition to finish off my new box. Maybe I'll do it tonight, have to wait and see. Thanks for the input! Jon

    New speaker setup...

Ok, to start off I'll say that I am tired of listening to my stock speakers. They aren't really that bad (well I have nothing that would be "good" to compare them to) but they need some help. I'm kinda working my toward a more SQ geared install. I still need to be able to crank it and watch my passengers cringe in pain and shock, lol. So now that you know what this thread is about I'll now start of with what I have and what I am waiting on and what plans I have for the future. What I have: I have a 03 Ford F-150 Reg Cab. The truck is as bone stock as you get, manual locks, windows, I mean plan as plan jane you can get. I currently have a Eclipse 8445 head unit. I am slowing learning how to use all the fancy dancy features on it (us SPL guys don't need mids and upper stages, blah!!!) For a sub stage I am running a Sonic FX Q 12 powered by an Incriminator Audio 20.1. The sub is seeing a "rated power" of 1800w RMS @ 1ohm. I think we all know the sub is seeing closer to 2kRMS. Now on to the speakers. Like everything else on the truck they are stock, nothing special. My goal is to keep the truck looking as stock as possible. So this mean no fancy pods or any "alterations" to the doors in any way. Because of this I am planning on using 5.25" component sets. What I have on the way (Waiting on shipping): Rainbow Professional 5.25 comps CS 230 P3 Cal 25 Tweet. What I plan on getting soon (ie: this weekend): Sundown SAX 100.2 I am getting a very good deal on this. Such a good deal I can't say from were or how much I am paying for this. What I have planned for the future (once money is available): Lots and lots of Second Skin. I'm still debating on to go with the regular damplifier or to go with the pro. I'm kinda leaning toward the regular b/c of its price. I also plan on getting "overkill' foam to go over the damplifier. I would like to do the whole truck but obviously I will start just with the doors and go from thier. Ok now that I have a plan laid out I would like to know what you think of it?? Money isn't that big of an issue but then again it is. I'm not looking into dumping several hundred dollars into dampening the truck but then again I always try to do things right and not half-a$$ them. I just sold off my IA DP so that is covering the cost for the rainbows. I'm thinking about selling my MKI Brahma motor as well to help pay for the SAX. I think that I have a good plan laid out but I'm kinda new to the whole "SQ" scene and I am not real sure about how this is going to work out. I plan on making a build log when I do have everything. This thread is to help me work out all the "fine print" in my plan. I'm also looking for advise on dampening my doors. Could someone send me a link or help me out when it comes to doing doors??? I appreciate any and all insight, ideas, and or critisizms. Thanks!!! Jon

    Wiring Dual 1 ohm woofers

You can use a dual 2 diagram. You just need to think about it a little bit. The 2 possible outcomes with (3) dual 2 subs would be... 1.34 and 3. Now we need to figure out what it would be for dual 1. So now lets think, 1 is half of 2 so if we take the ohm for dual 2 and divide them by 2 this will give you what you (3) dual 1 drivers will be .67 and 1.5. Hope this helps you out a little bit. Same can be done for dual 4, 8 etc. Just need to think about it and you can usually work it out. Jon

    Regular Cab Box build...

Thanks for the advise man!! I appreciate any advise I can get! Ended up doing some work before I went out tonight. Everything except for the front baffle is glued, screwed and caulked up! Box is looking very well so far, at least I think it is. I've deffenetly spent more time on this one trying to make it right then any other. After its finished I'll take a belt sander to any rough area's and have it looking perfect. Trick that I have learned, you don't always have to make it EXACTLY perfect, just make it as close as you can and then come back with a sander and make it perfect. By the time I'm done you should not be able to tell the difference between a flat and a seam, hopefully ,lol. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. Hoping to have it done by mid day depending on if I sleep in or not.. Also I will be doing a full review of the Claw Mag in both this new enclosure and my present one. Hopefully it will be a good read! Jon

    Regular Cab Box build...

Well didn't do any work yesterday decided to go out to the bar with some friends but I did manage to get a little done tonight. Here are the pictures of my progress so far. Decided to go with the square design. I didn't like how the round one was working out so I ditched it. Gotta love the round over effect!!! Thats not as pretty as I wanted but both pieces of MDF are exactly at the same level. I got a little sloppy with the jig saw so when you look close its a little ugly. Learned my lessen though. Next time to get the perfect fit, cut both pieces at the same time!! Probably won't get any work done this weekend. Might get back at it sunday night, have to wait and see. Keep on the lookout for updates... Jon
