I wonder what happens when a customer who doesn't really know what hes doing, when buying from a big site like that is going to do when he makes a matchup something like this: These Subwoofers x 2 on a SAZ-3500D http://www.woofersetc.com/p7829/P215W--Power-Acoustik-15"-Dual-4Ohm-1600W-P2-Series-Subwoofer.htm LOL. SMOKE! But seriously if they spend that much to get a Sundown SAZ amp, hopefully they would also know better than to put some of those subwoofers with 3 times less power handling than their power ratings with it...

They will be, new or refurbished. We sell alot of refurbished Class D amps. Most people will spend the cash for a new SAX-125.2 etc, rather than only save a few bucks (like $20-$40 difference is all) buying a refurb, but on the class D amps, the percentage of the difference in price is about the same, but the $$$ is much more for new than refurbished, in some cases hundreds of dollars difference so we sell ALOT of the class D amps, especially the big ones. Be sure to pack it back up well when you ship it back in so it doesn't get the RCA's broken off or speaker terminals sheared off etc...

Wow. Glad he got it resolved. Yeah, he said he was going to find another amp to test it with just to be sure, butt from what he told me, I am 100% sure the problem was his shorted speaker wires, he took the woofer out of the box and checked it, but did not check the terminal that was installed on the box itself, and that's where it was shorted.... I am glad he found the problem too, I hate doing warranty work, that's why I try my best to make sure it's right before we ever send it out, so it doesn't come back. We will fix it for him under warranty this time, again, but needless to say, I am a little frustrated by the whole situation, if I could be there everytime a customer installs one of my amps, I would make SURE they check everything before turning it on, but I just can't be there, so I have to rely on the customer and their "experience" or the experience of their installer, and we all know how that goes....

I understand that other shops that do so-called "Refurbishing" DO SUCK and I have seen their work so I know first hand, but we don't do that kind of work, and I think, although not required, after finding the speaker wire short, I would like an apology....

Just got word from the customer that he found the problem, his speaker terminal in his box was bent and definately shorted the speaker wires together....

Been talking with the customer and he tested the coils and they seem to be good, but I have asked him to find another amp somehow, even if it's a flea market special to put into the system to test to make sure everything works fine so we can rule out install issues. It may just be a "lemon" amp, won't know till everything is said and done. That's what sucks about being in this business, even though it was working fine here, as soon as it gets back to the customer, problems again, and not sure where to put the blame. I've had customers send me amplifiers back 3-5 times before finding the problem either within the amp or the install. Sometimes it just happens. Must be a "luck" thing, and sounds like this guy has had some pretty bad luck getting his install done/working other than the Sundown amp problem, so maybe just bad luck. If it turns out to be the amp, since I don't have anymore SAZ-3000D's, I will offer him an upgrade to a SAZ-3500D, but refund is out of the question, the amp was purchased in October 2009.

After re-reading your post, it really does look like you have a bad subwoofer. Just to give you some REAL incentive to be sure your woofer and wiring isn't problem: SAZ-3000D Out of Warranty Rebuild Cost = $200-$300 I suggest you check that woofer and all that wiring very well, unlike some companies dB-r WILL refuse to keep warrantying amps over and over for customers if we believe the customer is doing something non-standard, not within operating specifications and/or limits of the amplifier or if we think the customer has a serious install problem.

Tested this particular amp for about 3 hours on the bench just to be sure it was good to go and it worked flawlessly. You really need to check your speaker wires and coils etc. Not saying the amp couldn't have some other problem other than what we fixed, it could, it is after all just a piece of consumer electronics, built on an assembly line in Korea probably by children.... So anything could happen you wouldn't believe some of the things I have seen come in here straight from the factory.... Do check everything in your install well, usually when outputs fail repeatedly in someones amp and we end up warrantying it like 3-5 times for the customer (loosing our ass on it BTW almost not worth doing at some point) it turns out to be they have a bad woofer coil they didn't know about, even on brand new woofers it's possible, or a screw through a speaker wire somewhere, speaker wire stuck too far through a push in terminal on the speaker and shorting to the basket, etc. Check it good, and no need to post this kind of crap on these forums, it really is only to start shit it serves no other purpose, even suggesting that we didn't fix your amp is just overly completely stooopidly ridiculous, ask the hundreds of happy dB-r refurb customers on this message board, maybe that will "ease" your mind a little bit. Sorry if I seem a little "pissed", it's just that we are so damned good at repairing these things that it almost always turns out to be the customers fault, and when I see posts like this one discussing whether we actually fixed your amp or not or ever tested it before sending it back to you, it really pisses me off. You see how many people have come to our defense here, it's because we have done them right, we don't screw people over, you can STOP worrying about that. I think just the fact that I am willing to come here in public and give you hell about this should be enough proof to you that we are not out to screw nobody over.

Well maybe if your amps didnt cause such clean massive earthquakes this problem wouldnt have arose. LOL, is that what is causing all these Earthquakes lately? too many people running Sundown? I know they break cars, but breaking the earth? Sounds like just a bad solder connection, it will be found on the bottom of the board where the solder is. But you likely won't find it. Takes a trained eye and knowing where the signal paths are, and an oscilloscope helps too... Just send it in for repair or replacement. You purchased it from dB-r or Sundown? New or Refurb? Warranty?

Looking to build a box this weekend for a Death Row 18", 6.5 cuft, 90 inches of port area. Going to be a slot port, was wondering if it should be a 3" or 4" tall slot? Worried about wind noise (port noise) and tuning freq changing if the port is too narrow. Any advice? Should it really be bigger than 4" tall slot? Thanks!

one more question. If I use 90 inch port area, with a 4" slot that would be 22.5" wide. So port = 4" x 22.5" x ??? The length evades me.... I tried some port calculator scripts on a couple popular websites and I got 2 different results. one says 6.5 cuft tuned to 32 hz with a 4 x 22.5 port would need to be 28" long, the other says 17.36" long? WTF? Anyone help me understand that? Seems like a huge difference to me and I thought all those port length calculator online thingies used the same or similar forumulas so I am really confused now...

so 90 / 4 = 22.5 Worried about the noise made by the air moving, I have a 15" box with a skinny slot port and it makes alot of port noise.... it's like a 2" slot...

Price drop agreed. Money is tight. Economy is well, eh....not so hot. We are really busy here, but that's not the case with other business's I have talked to. I got all the prices updated in my store. I sure hate to see the SAX-50.4 go. I disagree with what most customers have said as Jacob cited it.... I think in this lower power, smaller footprint class, that the crossovers on the SAX-50.4 make it exceptional compared to all the other "dime a dozen" small 4 channel amps out there that have crap for crossovers. I had one, an Alpine MRV-F250 and I replaced it with an SAX-50.4 and I was UBER happy with it. The SAX-50.4 is twice as loud, and sounds twice as good thanks to the fancy crossovers.... The Alpine had just basic crossovers, HPF, LPF, and nothing else, no options.

On the bottom of the board, where the circuit board traces are, those fuses are connected to those coils anyway. So no, no harm. Those coils are to help reduce radio frequency (RF) noise as current is flowing in/out of the amp.

We quit making the E8 -- this will be our smallest 8" for a while. But I am going to start on a bigger one AFTER these are full production and available to customers. T/S aren't released yet. 8's are awesome in a good box, can be very loud and they fit anywhere. I thought this one looked like a bigger diameter motor than the last. I really liked my E8 while it lasted. I always figured I would "burn" it up, putting 2-3 times rated power into it, but NOPE, never burned, but blew the surround out of it all the way around, I guess it was stretching so much that it finally tore. I hope this one uses a tougher surround to tear up, I am sure the rest of it wil lbe indestructable, minus burning the tinsel leads in half anyway...

Man, I would seriously think you are going to FRY those subs with those amps..... WAY WAY WAY too much power, even if they are the newest L7's...... Just my opinion though. Good luck with it and try the cheapo RCA's, I think they are Phillips brand at Wal-mart, same spot where all the Component video cables etc are located.. Cheap red/white RCA's. That's all I use at my shop, they last almost a year before they go bad and we are constantly plugging and unplugging on the bench here....

SAX-100.4's are BEASTS. Huge 4 Channel amp will make your CDT's or other supposedly high power handling highs/mids beg for mercy!

I went from an Alpine MRV-F250 which some people claim to be a good SQ amp to a SAX-50.4 in my personal vehicle and once I got all the "knobs" set right it's twice as loud and cleaner sounding than that Alpine was. I was very impressed, gonna put a SAX-50.4 in my boat as well. It doesn't draw much juice, it's really small, and has so much flexibility it will be perfect for a "compact" low power install.

B-Stock is scratched up, dented etc. If it DOESNT say B-Stock then it's like new condition. We don't put A-Stock, just B-Stock, to denote the amplifiers that are B-Stock. if it doesn't say B-Stock next to the title then it's an A-Stock which means like new.
