  1. He just means that you should pick up a $20 volt meter to mount on the dash and run the wires back to the amp. This way you can keep a really close eye on what is going on with the voltage at the amplifier.

Ok cool, would this need for both amps or just the sub amp since it runs more power?

  2.

Definitely will try to get a video of this in action, but im nervous my alternator wont take te abuse!

I can honestly say I want to go to bed right now just so I can wake up to go have a listen!

    Setup looks great man.

How much power are you running through the stock alternator?

I have 800 rms @ 2ohm to the components and 1400 rms @ 2 ohm to the sub...Im sure Im not seeing all 2200 rms and the amps are class D.

But I bought one of those little guages you plug into a lighter socket that indicates alternator and battery...I stay around 14.2 when 2k rpm, but idleing drops to 12.5 ish every so often. Im sure its not very accurate, but close.

Stock alternator is 110 amp...thinking I might need 200-275 amp?

I believe my stock alternator is a 110 also, and I only have 1200w coming out of a single amp and I get some noticeable dimming.  Couldnt even imagine that much on my poor system haha

Thankfully I have no dimming. Crossing fingers.

  4. Ive always liked the Eagles "Hotel California"... more for SQ than SPL...

Young Jeezy tracks seem to get real low while retaining balance/blend.

Also surprised by Far East Movement, really hits the midbass like no other.

  5. I'm jealous and happy for you at the same dam time. That sub & box look nice back there. Are those back windows tinted?

yeah the windows are tinted...looking out is clear, looking in not so easy! Also the time of day and the way the sun is hitting makes it look that way.

Plus, if anyone really wanted to steal it I hope they bring a dollie cuz thats what it took for me to get it to my car.

Heres a better pic of the windows from the outside

  6. I updated the first post with an installed pic...

Have not really had a chance to let this thing dance...its getting kind of late. But the little taste I did get has me skar'ed.

I also realized Im definitely going to eventually need a new alternator. morning.gif

  7. Well guys, after a very loooooong wait...its finally over! And let me
tell you, I have not even heard this thing yet and Im already creaming
    my panties.     wackit2.gif

    Here
are some pictures, and when I have it installed hopefully a little bit
later today I will update with pics. For those of you who already own an
SSA subwoofer this will be nothing new for you (but probably brings
back some great memories!). For those sitting on a fence trying to
decide which way to go??? ....

I have to say as far as shipping goes, SSA gets an SSA+.

Holy shit you guys do this right!

  8. Nice in one of my rooms I have the same speakers with a Sony receiver plus two extra towers for a 5.1 with a 10" Sony sub. Sounds pretty damn good.

nice, I like these sonys as well...for a cheap ass speaker it gets the job done. I also have a sony 12" sub next to the couch, not seen in the pic. Definitely hits the low notes well.

Due to my living room layout, 3.1 channel is best for me unless one day I decide to go wih ceiling speakers...which I have contemplated many times. I just dont have the balls to cut into the roof of my house that I might not live in forever.

  9. Ok, can I get some helpful tips on installing the sub into the enclosure.

    What size/type screws?

I see people saying to use T nuts like found here:

    http://www.silveradosierra.com/mobile-electronics/mounting-subwoofers-in-a-box-the-right-way-t774.html

    Good idea?

Also Dustin the internal speaker wire connect is spade plug, but what would be ideal on the outside? Straight speaker wire or a banana plug?

  10. Awesome man!  Glad to see you finally got it.  When you get that Xcon running I might have to make a stop in VA to hear it!

Yeah Terry, hopefully soon! Im still contemplating an alternator upgrade, as I think Im pushing my limits...but that will be another day.

Come on through Central VA, not much where I am but I found an interesting car audio club over in Roanoke (1 hour west of me) that seems to hold some regular events...
