    Welcome to the IHoP

This is for those of you with extended cab trucks. I was just tossing some ideas around, but would it be possible to build a 'cube' subwoofer box like you see in most hatchbacks for SPL and just set it in the back of the truck with the seats folded up to get better numbers, or are trucks pretty much screwed for output's sake? All it would require was switching speaker wires, but I'd also find a way to secure the box... any ideas? -John
  2. exact reason why I bought an o'scope. I was willing to pay the $$ to see exactly what my amplifier is doing internally. -John

those things are huge, when we went deep sea fishing the captain would always get right next to them cause I guess the fish hang around there or something and they're HUGE. We probably saw 10-15 of them just anchored out in the Gulf -John

Anyone here good with picture editing? I'd like to trim this picture into a signature for other sites, this is the best I could do with paint to give you an idea of what I need done. Maybe you could darken the picture a bit and make it look legit, but nothing crazy or obvious -John

Yeah I was looking at the rear and thinking it would look nice shaved, but that's alot of money and it'll do for now. I'm still trying to figure out the stance. Because the wheels have such a low offset, they won't tuck and I don't want to go too far and be rubbing... -John Looks great, what are you using that is adjustable? oh I don't have anything done to the suspension, I'm just saying there's no way the wheels will tuck with how far they stick out from the fender so I don't want to install like a 4/6 and then set the truck off the jack-stands and have the fenders cut into the tires... sadly this is the best pic I have of how far the wheels stick out. If you follow the tire, you can kinda tell that it sticks out 1" or so from the fender. -John

Kind of a dumb question, but I was looking at front speakers and some of them have enclosure recommendations... So are you supposed to build like a sealed door pod, or is the interior of the door 'sealed'? I see alot of people just making MDF rings, and not actually making an enclosure -John

Finally got some escalade handles and painted tailgate for the truck, let me know what you think. The picture quality really sucks for some reason, maybe it was a combination of a crappy memory card and low battery. -John

    Handheld Oscilloscopes

Well for some reason they raised the price and that's why I couldn't find the listing. It's now $199, I paid $155 http://cgi.ebay.com/HPS10SE-PERSONAL-SCOPE...tem180145318807 sorry about making you think it was cheaper... They also have the regular version for $175 shipped http://cgi.ebay.com/VELLEMAN-HPS10-PERSONA...tem180145211968 -John

    Handheld Oscilloscopes

if I can find the link to the one I bought, you can totally trust the seller. I just bought one and you don't have to worry, plus the price is great. I think the seller has like 8000+ replies and is a power seller, basically like buying from a business online. -John

    Handheld Oscilloscopes

SE has .1mv sensitivity and 10mhz sampling rate HPS5 has .5mv and 5mhz Also the SE has the x10probe, you have to get that extra through parts express... I'm just saying if the HPS10SE is cheaper and better, why wouldn't you get it? (I paid $167.53 shipped) -John

    Handheld Oscilloscopes

actually the one I got has a lot more functionality find an up close of both and you'll see the difference in buttons. The HPS10SE is comparable to the HPS40 cause they share an instruction manual. It's definitely worth the small price difference to get the SE. -John

    Handheld Oscilloscopes

I just bought the special edition version of that o'scope and I definitely recommend it. Here's a pic of the resolution of the sine wave just before clipping. You can definitely see clipping and because it has the 'auto' function, it'll get the screen and time division just right to clearly represent what you're monitoring. that's the version that I got http://cgi.ebay.com/Velleman-HPS10SE-10mhz...tem330153707895 -John

    Welcome to the IHoP

I think it does, is that bad? -John assuming this is ok, I got the gains set. I finally saw clipping and damn is this loud. My roof was making a crazy loud metal sound on the test tone, but it's normal with music. I guess the constant noise builds up a frequency that makes everything shake vigorously -John

    Welcome to the IHoP

see, they never really get flat, I think that's just too few pixels on the screen. I'll just turn it up until I see obvious clipping, then turn it down conservatively because it's loud enough right now honestly and it's probably only seeing 400-600watts. I'm going to try the rear RCA outputs on the harness instead of the fronts and see if I can get a higher value than .4V for output voltage... -John
