    older btl 12 question

haven't been on here in a long time. i'm trying to run two of these, but i lonly have 2 cubes after displacement for each. i already built the box and i'm waiting on recones. it's tuned to about 37. just wondering if anyone tried btl 12's in the same size box and what you thought of it? oh btw amps are 2 t20001bd's. one to each woofer, dual 2 ohm woofers.

    older btl 12 question

this is why i asked. those two things on the side are gonna get cut out for batteries. i wish i had an suv. i know it's kinda close to the port but i don't think it would be that bad. thanks bkolfo4.

3rd magnet mounting depth btl ?

thanks scott. right when i got a btl that i wanted to recone to a 12 and was hopefully looking for another....... you guys bust out a new version. hopefully you guys close out an old one for an old fi customer in hawaii. lol, me!
  11. what are the mounting depths and displacements of btl's when you get the extra magnet? i tried the search but nothing comes up. also, it would be nice to have it all in one place for future reference. *edit*..... i just read that you guys are releasing a new btl. in any case what are the mounting depths of both new and old?

    Help with this Recone

    my bl needed 3.

    My Q busted... :(

might be clipping. how big is the box? the tinsle could have been short but that doesn't explain the charred parts except for maybe that it didn't break all at once. if you resolder it back, it just might break again depending on what you use to extend it.

    good box?

if the cut out diameter fits, why not try it out. i think it would be good. might get a lil lower tuning if your sub displacement is smaller. i don't see that as a huge problem though.

    Hexibase Box Design

so what kinda box do you guys think this is? i think it's a regular box with two huge ports. i dunno that's why i'm asking. in jocks box the port is 4x14.5. lemme know what you guys think. btw, this box sounds really good but can't figure out what it is.

    Hexibase Box Design

do you mean the width of the ports? i made the box in two pieces and used some corner clamps and screwed the ports down frst before adding the 45's. knda like jockin's pick but with the back on one side and the front on the other. it was kinda hard to seal but i thought that would've been easier that way than any other way i was thinking at the time.

    Hexibase Box Design

Hexibase is pretty good at hitting the target goals with his designs. Trust me, these aren't your typical ported boxes. I've heard and made plenty of ported boxes. There is alot more to a good box than a tuning frequency, air space, and port area. To each his own though. Nobody has to buy the designs if they don't want to. Its just another product in the economy which not everyone has to or will want to buy. Some people take their car to a mechanic, some do it themselves. He's not forcing anyone to buy his designs. He's just doing his own thing, and its amazing how people will just hate on it. There are plenty of people out there who can't design a good box, so they search for someone who can. Sometimes they find Hexibase, sometimes they find some random dude on a forum. Let them figure out which way works best for them. ^^^that's the box i made and the guy i made it for. i wouldn't have built the box if i didn't like the design. i didn't hate on the design but just warned the op about how heavy it can get. sheeeeeeesh no need to get all defensive.

    Hexibase Box Design

sorry the one i made was a hexibase design but for a 15"q. i don't remember the exact dimensions but it looks like he scaled it up some or added the extra baffle to compensate for the woofer displacement. the box was about the same width.

    ok i need a recone 10"bl

well like i stated on someone elses thread, my tinsel lead broke and i really felt the woofer didn't sound the same anymore. i was just looking at it and noticed that the surround is starting to crack around where it meets the cone. and i also need a terminal which i broke a long time ago. my question's.... do i order the recone an do it myself? never done it, so i'm kinda wanting to try it. do i send it back to fi and have them do it? i built a box for another guy in hawaii that has a btl and was wondering if they could do my tinsels like his? or, do i buy a new woofer, because shipping back and forth might be kinda pricey? any and all suggestions welcome and i hope someone from fi points me in the right direction as well. phil

    Hexibase Box Design

i built that box for one of my friends and let me tell you that thing is heavy. iirc it did a 142.xx in a truck.
  22. if you don't have that anvil thing i would use a torch and solder. never had one come apart. i seen some crimps get loose after a while. solder and torch ftw. just get the 1/0 terminals that don't have a hole going through. fill it up with solder and dump the wire in.

    ok i need a recone 10"bl

haven't been on here in a while and just did the recone yesterday. thank you scott! this was my first recone and i must say it looks really easy from the pics but dayum the glue that fi uses is hardcore.
