  1. wellll, Id be willing to do better front speakers if needed. but the problem is I have to fill that space either way with new speakers.

Originally there wasn't a spot for 6x9s, I cut holes into the panels for them.

Which if anyone who restored old broncos heard I cut holes in the nearly perfect unbuyable original panels they would have a heart attack. So haha umm, yeah I'd prefer upgrading them.

  2. I have some 70w rms pioneer 5-way 6x9s that sound decent but definitely not as clear as I would like.

So I thought Id buy some quality 6x9s, Ive been looking around for awhile and none seem to come close to the
Infinity kappa 693.9I 3-way speakers in specs.

Anybody have any experience with these?

Seem like a good purchase for around $100?

    Specifications:

    Power Handling (RMS):

    110 W

    Power Handling (Peak):

    330 W

    Frequency Response:

    35Hz – 30kHz

    Nominal Impedance:

    2 Ohm

    Sensitivity (2.83V @1m):

    96dB

Also my kenwood 6.5s are clear and sound fairly great but I doubt they will keep up with 6x9s

so I was also thinking about Infinitys 6.5 components for $130 to go in my doors since they also have a high sensitivity and Im sure will sound pretty fantastic.

All seem like a good choice? and can you think of any better in that price range?

    Thanks guys smile.png

  3. I know for me the cold weather -15 to 25 degrees greatly effects how much my truck rattles on the inside, stiffens the surrounds which in turn makes the subs produce less sound and voltage is worse + goes down faster. When its above 25 or so its fairly clear and loud but anything under that it sounds pretty bad.

Plus if its under 0 degrees you for sure have to slowly turn up the bass in order to not crack your cones or even surrounds.

So in conclusion bass in Alaska doesn't work so well in the winter :/

  4. Decaf and bigpimpin91 undoubtedly have some of the best songs for bass, and I have all of decafs zips, but I need Bigpimpin91's work also.

Ive tracked down quite a few of his songs, but its seemingly impossible to find anymore just crawling through different forums and google.

Anyone has his Collection? or even a few songs? He had a ZIP of all of his older slowed, bass boosted, and chopped songs on SMD awhile back before the rules changed on there.

. Id very much appreciate an upload of any you guys have, if you want to be private about it that is definitely ok just pm me.

    Thanks!

  5. First we need a budget.

Then you need to figure out what you want to go with as far as processing is concerned.

Definitely would not recommend a 3-way.  Crawl before you walk.  A 3-way is significantly more complicated than a 2-way, and with a decent processor a 2-way will more than keep you busy dialing in.  Once you have mastered the art of the 2-way active setup, think about proceeding on to 3-way.  A well tuned and well setup 2-way will kick the shit out of a poorly setup and poorly tuned 3-way.  And if this is your first foray into active setups, the 3-way will end up being poorly tuned and poorly setup.

More isn't always better.  And no offense to Sacred, but none of his suggestions were very good.....so don't take that advice.

Hmm well I was pointing out popular brands and products to look at cause that's what he asked for but okkkk...

Ill just leave haha, im sure you can help more then me anyway.

But ill watch cause I'm interested what you guys recommend, because before I upgrade woofers agian

I want to to my mids and highs cause mine sound good for what they are but clearly not the best.

  6. For midbass some popular ones are the:

    Crescendo 6.5s,8s,10s

    Sundown 6.5s,8s,10s

    Eminence audio Eminators 6.5s,8s,10s

Popular Super Tweeters for A pillars:

    Crescendo ft1s

    Selenium ST200,ST350,ST400

Regular tweets I would just go for some pioneer tweets if you like soft, or kenwood has a ceramic tweeter which sounds a bit brighter but super clear and fairly loud.

Also there are components from crescendo and Sundown that are very nice if you want simplicity but still get the full range.

Just my recommendations, from what I've heard and seen. Others probably have good or better advice.

  7. I recently got a ticket for playing loud on a damn freeway

    a freeway!

I'm very respectful of my surroundings and didn't think I deserved that ticket.

funniest part of it? Wasn't even playing rap.

Was listening to Sade with the subs off.

That's ridiculous haha. cop was a douche for sure.

  8. Ive seen lots of videos with the Fi SP4s 18s and they always have the craziest flex and air movement.

Im really torn between trying something big this summer and getting a SSA Evil 18 or getting the Fi SP4 18.

The SP4s are fairly cheap for what they are so that might be the deciding factor, but at the same time I really like everything about SSA as a whole.

  9. I agree with a lot of you guys with neighborhoods, not going to argue about that. This situation does open my eyes about a few things, Thanks for the replies! smile.png
Thanks for not getting all pissed off at everyone like some people do :)/>

Well I got respect for a lot of you, your systems and experience is amazing to me.

  10. I was just reading an article about Florida noise ordinances, and this article is a little older but actually in DEC 2012 he won in the florida supreme court.

So the ordinances are changing and the police departments are starting to not give tickets for such things according to the few things Ive looked at.

    http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/florida-noise-law-falls-victim-to-lawyers-crusade/1169129

    EDIT: found the update

    http://www.ceoutlook.com/2012/12/14/car-audio-wins-in-florida-supreme-court/

Just what Ive read, idk if you are aware of this or not. But yeah if it is true, You guys are getting pretty lucky. :)/>

oh and 500$ is wayyy excessive for something like this, sucks for texas. :P

Also I agree that bass can be quite annoying if its constant but If I'm driving on a main road, you are going to hear it for what 30-40 seconds max?

Thats my issue with it, I dont want to piss people off I just want to listen to some bass once in awhile.

  11. I actually do turn it down whenever I come into my neighborhood, but I had literally just turned onto my street from the main road.

    I didnt get a chance.

Also My neighbor complains if he hears ANY music, if you were to play a song on your phone speaker outside he would probably call the cops.

Anyways there no where in my area where you can go to play your stereo by those recommendations, I would literally have to drive out of town onto the highway.

well that's what the noise ordinance says, that's why I posted it above.

  12. So I have a dick neighbor that complains everytime he hears any music. Calls the cops everyday apparently.

So they setup and undercover down the street and I got pulled over for my loud stereo.

He told me the only reason he was there was waiting for me.

He asked me how loud my stereo was, and I didnt know exactly how to answer that.

He asked me the same question about 3-4 times and I said I dont know how loud it exactly is.

Gave me a ticket that says car stereo audible over 50ft.

Ive read the noise ordinance and it says this about the subject.

"15. Radios, televisions, musical instruments and similar devices. Except as otherwise permitted for noncommercial spoken language in subsection B.8 of this section, no person shall operate, play or permit the operation or playing of any radio, television, phonograph, drum, musical instrument, sound amplifier or similar device that produces, reproduces or amplifies sound:

    a. Between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day in such a manner as to create a noise disturbance across a real property boundary or within a noise-sensitive zone, except for activities open to the public and for which a permit has been issued by the department as provided in section 15.70.070.A;

    b. In such a manner as to create a noise disturbance at 50 feet (15 meters) from such device when operated in or on a boat on public waters; or

    c. In such a manner as to create a noise disturbance to any person other than the operator of the device when operated on a common carrier by any passenger."

So doesn't this mean it has to be in with 10pm and 7am?

I don't really want to pay the fine, so is there anyway I can fight it?

Also 1st offense is $100, 2nd $300, and third a forfeit of your sound system.

I think the last to be very extreme considering the time, money, and effort us car audio enthusiasts put into our sound systems.

Anyways thoughts and opinions appreciated :)/>

  14. I bought a Kinetik HC1200 because my Diehard gold battery is getting a little old and only charges to about 3/4s original capacity.

It got here last night and I figured Id test how it compared simply by dropping it in place of the Diehard.

(I do realize Kinetik reccomends at least a HC1800 for replacing main starting battery)

Didnt charge it till it was all connected, let it sit in there over night.

At that time the lights when the door was opened were quite a bit brighter, good sign I thought.

Although the starter seemed to turn over a little faster the dash lights and my seatbelt indicator buzzor almost went completely out.

I played some bass on my way to work, and noticed the dash lights started dimming, and by 6-7 mins It was having a real hard time.

At lunch I checked the voltage at the battery and it was 12.5, kinda frustrated me because thats a little lower then I thought it would sit.

On my way back I brought a small voltage meter that you plug into the dash 12v plug, when the truck is started at first it likes to sit around 13.4-13.6

I waited drove around for a little bit till it got to 14.4, put on a song at a little lower volume than I normally would (40 instead of 45)

within 20 seconds of the bass hitting the voltage flew down to 13.2 then 12.1 then I turned it off and it rose back up 14.4 fairly quick (within 30 sec)

(note: I have my doubts that this little voltage meter is real accurate so consider them guesstimates :P )

The diehard even when at max volume doesnt drop even close to as fast as that when in place.

From what I messed around with this battery its either really really sensitive to the cold and being a lone battery, or its just not a very good choice for the 150-200 dollar range. I could have bought 2 new diehard golds for that price.

Anyways since I do have this battery Im still probably going to do what I planned and buy a battery isolater so I can run both the diehard and Kinetik.

Also before you say its my electrical and alternator and such, I do know I need to do the big three and get a better alternator.

But I figured Id buy the extra battery first since I had the extra cash on hand.

Id like your guys opinion and advice on this. Thanks smile.png

  15. I built a ported box for one of the DCONS and wow, almost as loud on most songs as sealed. Cant wait to build the other one! :)

A couple bad things though is the bass sounds a little off, sounds a little weird sometimes but it might be my box. Also rattles have really become pronounced, definately need to get some sound deadener.

  16. well of course a ported box would yeild better results in most cases.

    glad you chose SSA

Yes louder but right now Im going for more SQ and wider frequency range than SPL. Although the low end isnt exactly good.

I might try building a ported box to see how it sounds, but I think I might just go big and do 4 Dcons ported.

SSA has definately made me a fan so far. smile.png

  17. nice! two diffrent boxeS?

glad to see a SSA build! how do you enjoy it?

Thanks! yes I built two boxes so I would have more options with placement and moving the subs around.

Its great, im very happy with them, 45-50hz in there is there sweet spot and can be uncomfortable in my truck. Suprising for 300w subs.

But as it goes I have a hunger for more haha.

  18. Well my initial build at the moment is relatively complete, but of course I have future plans.

Therefore Ill just post some pictures and you can comment and ask questions about the build if you wish. smile.png

Ill add more pictures when I get back home, next week.

Im thinking of doing fiberglass doors with an 8" mid, 6.5" mid, and a supertweet. Then add two more dcons, maybe ported maybe sealed, not sure.. If that doesnt do it for me, Im thinking SSA Icon 18s.
