  1. Also wanted to add this, I currently have no noise in my current set up. The sensitivity of the zed is greater than what is currently installed.

Maybe my ventures will help other who encounter noise issue with the amp.

I have the same issue with my Leviathan, for me it sounds like alternator whine because it changes while driving.

Once I change out my alternator, and do some power and ground runs I'm hoping it goes away.

  2. It's way better. I think most people think you lose the 45+ hz range but you really don't when you tune that low.

I noticed with my SP4s when I put them in a box tuned to 24hz that it completely flattened out the sound, the high notes were even with the low low notes to the ear. peaked around 33hz.

Most people wouldn't expect a sub to sound good tuned that low.

Glad you got it to sound how you wanted, sometimes you just have to play with it. smile.png

  3. For the Sp4 if you want a pretty flat response then go for around 7 cubes, and a decent amount of port area (~120 to 140in)

Also I highly recommend upgrading to a different amp, the soundstream rubicons have a lot of issues with heat.

Not to mention to put the Sp4 to its full potential your going to want 3-4k

Anyways your going to love the SP4, they have a very smooth sound to them.

  4. High Quality and Walmart shouldn't be used in the same sentence. smile.png

No not bed liner...I like the high quality paint that Walmart sells. I think black and white for the enclosure.

Rustoleum protective enamel works well, its very thick and doesn't come off easy. Its also quite cheap.

  5.

Alright so I was curious why the Zcons were moving so much more, so I was double checking resistance of the coils, and at the amp and such. Well apparently the Zcons are dual 1 ohm, and I was under the impression they were dual 2 so I wired them as such.. My voltage drop was that bad because the Zcons are at .25 nominal, and with rise they are around .4 to .5 at the amp. The crescendo was getting a bit warm and now I know why. I find it incredibly impressive that the amp wasn't going into protect, and I didn't blow a fuse with that kinda power. Now that I know this I'm going to take a video but as soon as I do that I'm gonna take them out and put the sp4s back in. Sketches me out running that low.

    Where's the video!?

I tried to use a CD and use my phone to take a video and the CD kept skipping and stopping, so Once I get someone to take a decent video ill upload it. hopefully in the next few days. I have a few small clips on instagram though.

  7. Audioque is $20 over budget no need for that when the crescendo can get the job done with less money spent on it. True but I cant find a quality amp other then crescendo and never messed with ppi amps. I don't like hifonics owned several in the pass and really didn't impress me. My aq 2200 wasn't so bad, and my nendo 3500 was bad ass. Mb quart was ok just seems like it heats up easily if you push it hard which the user using the amp will hardcore.

Crescendo amps run very cool usually, and are quite reliable, I'd definitely put my money on the crescendo 600.1 ;)

  8. Depending on what your vehicle peaks at and location of the woofer will greatly determine the response. Have you tried moving the box around?

If you want to build another box also, tuning the box lower and going on the higher side of the recommended box size will help as sencheezy said. :)

  9. The remote wires are horrible on the Crescendo amps. I think they suck on the Sundowns too. But my remote wire/knob would make loud pops and thuds through the subs just touching the damn things. When I removed it this last time they made a huge pop. Scary because you can tell its a full tilt signal. I will never run another remote knob unless its a PAC 1 line type. I personally think thats what smoked my SAZ1500.

haha I know right, mine started doing that recently after I lent it to a friend, the popping scares me sometimes too. Cant be good on anything.

  10. Always nice to see SP4 builds, I still have quite a lot of work to do to mine.

Ill be upgrading amps soon also, I was thinking another 3500 like you but B2 just came out with the Zero.7. I'm thinking two of those for my 18s.

Take a look at those cause as you probably know, Sp4s take 4-4.5k clean. :)
