I've been going back and forth between what subs to get for about a year now, and still have no idea what to get. So my ? is, what is everyone's def of sq, meaning whats the difference is sound? Between the audioque hdc, ia dp, nightshade, xcon, everyone wrote back xcon ftw, but when I look on audioque's website, they have a guy winning sq comps, Nick at ia said they have ppl running dp for sq, I've read nightshades were better than those two, and the xcon would have the best sq, but mabye not have the spl as the others??? I think the sub will go as low as the fs?? maybe lower, so the xcon ftw.... but I want to make sure its the loudest as possible too. I'm guessing I will have to sacrifice one for the other, but don't really want to. From what I've read, rd audio alpha max would be perfect, but I haven't cared for their c/s and I want to support one of the companies on this forum bcuz the c/s has been so great and I've been learning so much. Great response!!!! Usually you come off pretty rude, and then you have to apoligize for being rude lol and then say you get tired of the same boner questions!!! SO that's one of the reason I asked a this vs. that in a different way. Me 4 the MFW hahaha. But on the real, that's more of the response I was looking for. So what speakers do you recommend for the front stage? since my $800 focal set isn't gud enough :-( lol thanks again

Thanks. This is more of what I was asking. The front stage is focal krx2 6.5 so its good enough. If I need more, I'll buy some midbass off of the ssa website for under $100 and some tweeters from somewhere.... any sugg would be helpful I have done an install for a audioque hdc12 for a coworker and it sounds pretty good. The upper bass freq doesn't sound as good as I would like, but the lows where great and everything shakes!!! I will be doing more installs for coworkers since they love what I've done from companies they've never heard from, but I don't want any of them out doing me!!! lol as far as sq and spl. Thats y I want to move up from my two 10 w7's to 15's or 1 18. Since everything is install dependent, I know its a hard choice.... I think I can fit two 15's, amp(s) is/are mmats 3500.1 2700 watts at 1 ohm which I can always have the gain turned all the way down as to not burn the voice coils... The person that explained about the flatlyne subs is more of what I was talking about... So the hdc, ia dp, and nightshade would be more of a boom, whereas the xcon, flatlyne, and death row, are more true sounding(accurate reproduction) of music?? If so, which 15's would be best out of those three? I'm assuming all three are great but I just want to have the best :-)

Trying to put a system together for a coworker. Coworker 1 has an audioque hdc12 with an AQ 1200.1 amp. He loves the way it sounds, but wants more!! I'm going to sell his amp to coworker 2. What should coworker 2 run with that amp? Two choices I was looking at is an Audioque 18", or two 187 15's. What would have the most output from that amp? Budget is around 200-300 I think.... lol Its going into a Bronco, so sub(s) up and ports back is what I'm thinking for that ""SQL"" sound.... Thanks for any input another sub off that amp, what about an re audio sx 18?

Thats what I figured!!! thanks for the fast responses!! Since it was there entry level sub, I wasn't sure if it would be as loud as audioque's high end. Even though I've read that the 187's are equivalent to jl audio w3, just wanted to make sure.......

After all of the readings i've done, it seems like these are the popular choices for subs. Which would you rate for being the best all around LOUD SOUND QUALITY sub. It seems like the ia and xcon have the flattest bl curve, the xxx may be the winner in the lows department and the w7 is what everything is measured against. B4 I only had highs with no mid bass, so I loved my 10w7's over my 06xxx. Now I have the focal krx2 for the highs and mids, so what would be a good sub to blend with them? They are able to play down the the 70hz range i believe. Looking for the best sound quality in 6cubes maxx! Also looking for it to be loud(outside of the truck for showing off purpose:-) ) Size or sizes of subs doesn't matter. Price is almost no option either. XXX is currently being redone. Re is taking 4ever to do it!!!! ?But because ppl swear by that sub, I'm gunna give it another chance. The installer that did my xxx install was fired, so I'm gunna give it another chance by the new installer. Just wondering what everyone thought so I can spend time with the girlfriend since I have been neglecting her..... reading forum after forum lol Amps I have are 2 mmats 3500.1 rated at 2700 at 1 ohm, 1900? at 2 ohm. Is there an advantage to having 2 slot ports? if so I'll prob go with the 15 since that will probably be around 6cubes. If theres no advantage, would the 18" xcon in 6cubes total, with polyfill be enough?

ooops I c that the 18" is at 31 and the xcon is at 27.6 So should I get the 18hdc and tune it to 32? or keep it at 38? I want to be able to get low and blend in gud!!! Would it be the same as an ia dp or nightshade?? Thanks

If I don't like the xxx when it gets redone, u got a deal and unfortunately my chic doesn't want u guys m@sterb@ting to her LOL!!! Does the 18 hdc have comparable sq? I thought the hdc's couldn't hit the low lows cuz the fs is only 43??

I love the low end of the xxx, but overall I thought it was overated!! Just different tastes i guess, so selling the xxx wouldn't be much of a loss for me. when the xxx finally gets done from RE, I'll take a pic and ask my chick to load it up for me on here to show that I have it. It could have been the previous installers fault, thats y im giving it another chance.... I've read that the 05 and 06 xxx are different, unfortunately the 05 was better..... thanks for the replies!!!!

Ok sounds great!!! I'm gunna sell my 10w7s and when the XXX gets done, I will sell that too. So I can go with the Xcon. Just to make sure, I should go with 1 18? When I emailed ssa about what to do, they said two 15's. I would think that 6 cubes total would be too small?!?!

Hi I've been calling around to different car audio companies accross the US and all of the stores tell me that mmats amplifiers beat us amp hands down. (compared to merlin series) Is this true? I know the car audio shops have installed both amps and should know, but this is a us amps forum and wanted to hear if there was a difference in opinion. Has anyone here dealt with mmats pro audio amps? thanks
