    2.1 Bedroom Setup

Very nice! This build inspired me to do a 2.1 setup of my own...didn't turn out quite this nice though. Builds like this are pure inspiration! Thanks for sharing

    NEM's Evilinator!!

Can't believe I have missed all the updates. Looks great as usual Neal! I am with you on the need for multiple boxes. I am running sealed but am in the process of designing a ported box to swap out when I need the output. Inconvenient but so nice to have the option.

ON or OFF AXIS, What constitutes which?

Just re-read this thread for the third time and pick up more every time. Thanks Alton for asking questions the way you do. It is hard for me to figure out the "right" questions to ask to get the answers I am looking for. I recently ditched my old comps and went active and was absolutely blown away by the improvement. I spent a couple hours setting crossovers and levels and I was in heaven...for 8 weeks or so and now the honeymoon phase is over and my critical ear is back but I didn't know where to start to get the sound I want. After reading this thread again I understand a little better what it means to train your ear and how to go about training my ears. Thank you Alton, Brad and Sean for the info, this thread has helped me find a trail head to a productive path where I can learn more about something I love.

    96 Accord System Upgrade

My current setup is ok, but I think it is time to take things to the next level. My current project is upgrading to an active front stage. Later I hope to add another 12" GCON or maybe upgrade to a 15" XCON. Anyway, I got my HU and I am waiting for my seas 7" woofers to arrive. As soon as I get paid I will be ordering the tweets. Then the fun begins! I installed the 80prs and ditched the passives on my entry level BA comps. After an hour or so of tweaking The sound is WAY better! I am not going to spend too much time dialing them in since I will be replacing them soon, but I want to get used to the control of active tuning...I love it! Here are a few pics. I measured for space, but wanted to make sure I could fit the new drivers, so I mocked them up with cardboard to test fit before I spent the money. All that did was make me even more excited for this upgrade! Waiting is the hardest part. Here it is so far: I am really looking forward to the new setup. I am excited and nervous to try my hand a fiberglassing. I will update as things progress.

Thank you. LOVE the xcons! Next step is to seal the rear deck where the 6x9's used to be and glass my tweeters into the a pillars

    96 Accord System Upgrade

Don's velcro is always handy to have laying around. Your never know when you will find another use for it. A look from the inside All cleaned up and ready to go I decided to use the holes from my previous setup to run power and ground wires to save time/money. Not quite as clean but an acceptable compromise.

    Incriminator Pro Audio

Check Parts Express and Midasound for raw drivers if you are going active and keep doing what you are doing, asking questions and taking in the feedback. No matter what you chose there will be compromise based on your install, vehicle, equipment etc. Some of the limitations you won't even be aware of until after you get everything set up. Research the best you can, give the guys on this forum as much DETAILED information as you possibly can, and you can't go wrong

    smd dd1

I bought a DD-1 after I blew my first sub setup, I fed into the youtube hype and haven't blown another setup...but I also ditched the DD-1. I set gains with it and my system sounded like shit. Common sense tells you that it would but I didn't take the time to think about it. It MAY be able to detect distortion at 2 frequencies but what about the other 29,000+ other frequencies that are coming through my speakers? I found music that was recorded and played particurlarly loud in my car and set the gains by ear to those tracks and use the HU to dial everything else in. It is a constant process for me to tune and get everything perfect but I have found a place I am pretty happy with, I found that setup using my ears and spending time LISTENING! I could have never achieved the sound I have with a meter or DD-1 or anything other than my ears

    2.1 Bedroom Setup

Great work sir! I have been wanting to do a 2.1 system in my bedroom for a while now. Can't wait to get it started. I hope it turns out half as nice as this build is shaping up to be
