  1. I am pleased with the results. I am in a 96 Honda so Power strokes and other trucks are right at door/ window level. I couldn't stand it any more so I thought why not, I have spent over a grand on wire amps speakers and box building materials, time to deaden. I have noticed a difference in road noise especially coming from traffic. I have also noticed a huge improvement in woofer response in my doors which I am extremely happy about.

The only problem/ let down is that I now notice noise entering the vehicle from other sources ie floor firewall. I never noticed how loud that noise was because my doors were so bad. Now it is kind of forcing me to finish the entire car. should only be another $150 or so, I need to get with Don to help me work out a materials list, but I will get it done eventually. Overall it was a great decision and has definitely improved sq.

  2. The pic of the CLD was too big but im sure everyone is familliar with that anyway. I love the idea of hanging the barrier with velcro so you can get to the internals easily if need be. The strips Don offers are strong as hell and stick very well.

  3. A few pics of my latest project. CLD CCF and MLV on all 4 doors. WAY more time consuming than I anticipated but I am pleased with the results. With Don's help it was really straight forward and not too complicated just super time consuming to get the fit just right with as much coverage as possible. Worth every hour.

  4. Just a shout out to Don of SoundDeadenerShowdown! Shipped me everything I needed to treat my doors at a great price. Answered all my questions and then some and even saved me a few dollars by keeping me from buying more than I needed. His product exceeded all of my expectations and the fact that I was able to help a small business was icing on the cake. Thanks Don!

The only problem now is that the engine and road noise I couldn't hear before is coming through loud and clear :( Time to start saving up to treat the rest of my vehicle

  5. So after having my doors apart for deadening this week I found I have 6.5 inches diameter and 5 inches depth for woofers and 2.5 inches diameter and 2 inches depth for tweeters in my doors which is where I would like to keep them.  I have 75w per x 4 available to power my front stage. where should I begin my search for new speakers? What should I be searching for? My goals are SQ. I would like nice midbass response and a clear clean tweeter. My ear seems to favor soft dome tweeters from my limited listening experience. Any suggestions or guidance?

  6. It is TONS louder! The worry I have now is the smell...I coated the inside with fiberglass resin about a week before I had everything ready to install, put the sub in the box and the box in my trunk last night and I can still smell the resin. It's not horribly bad but is there a chance the fumes will damage my sub?  Like I said, its not real bad, just when I get in the car I notice the smell, I just worry about the fumes breaking down the glues on the driver...should I be concerned?

  7. Had this in a 1.35f^3 sealed box and it got down...but I felt like it wanted and needed more :) So I put her in a 2.5f^3  tuned ~33hz and WOW!!! couldn't be happier. I can't believe a $200 sub can play this loud and clean. Everyone who hears it always is impressed at how clear the bass is and that it is only 1 12" sub.

This was my first box design from the ground up. would do a few things differently if I could do it over but overall I am happy with the results...

  8. Is there a reason you recommend used? Also, it looks like this project just got a little more interesting. One of the channels on my amp is cutting in and out so I may be in the market for a new amp too. :( I have been planning on upgrading my amp but not this soon...bitter sweet

  9. I just got my order of deadener from Don last week, that is my weekend project. I will be deadening all 4 doors (CLD, CCF, and MLV) I'm very excited to finally be able to get this done, it's been a long time coming. While I have the doors torn apart I will take detailed measurements and post them. I will also do some research on processing...I am leaning toward an external processor rather than a new HU but we'll see...

any suggestions on specific products or places to start looking? I hear a lot about the 9855 and 9887 for active head units but not sure where to begin looking for a good external processor.

  10. I would like to keep the mids in the stock door location and since i have a hole in the door panel already I would like to keep my tweeter there. I figured i'd end up getting an external processor but I am not opposed to a new hu...the R&D stage of my setup is by FAR the most time consuming...
