    4 18" BTL Build

I wouln't mind coming to MB just to hear that. I am still working on my setup. I am still plan on getting the Fi BL's, but I bought a couple of MB Quart 15's and they hit pretty well. I guess I will have to just get eight of them and an Atomic 5000 watt amp for now. I stay in Orangeburg as I said when I emailed you before. Keep up the good work and I will try to meet up with you one day for a battle and may the best man win.
  3. Thats the same metal that I used to build a plaform for my speakers in my van. Very nice to work with. Did you burn through the metal by any chance.

    Lanzar Opti 1535D

I want to try something new and I have been looking at this sub for a while now. I know that higher end lanzar products are pretty good, but I have never heard these before. Can someone help me?
  5. I am buying 2 of either amp and I wanted to know whether anybody has had a positive experience with either of these amps.

    Fi attire

I wanted to know if you could send me the pdf of the Fi sticker so I could have them made to put on my windows in my van. I am new to Fi but from what I understand had something to do with RE. I wanted RE and a friend told me about Fi and I must admit the price is a lot cheaper. I want to know if you have a 5X Fi shirt available. I want to be in full effect when I make my debut again in my town. I am hoping Fi will lead me to victory. I am puttting a lot of time in making everything go together right. I hope you all fulfill my desires as an audio enthusiasts. This will also be my demo vehicle for my business.

    Ported Enclosure

Nope. You get reinforcement from the port no matter how large the airspace is... Cool. The reason I said that is because I initially planned to get 8 15's, but I just went with four after finding out when I was moving and I had all my speakers in there. It turns out the one facing the front didn't really add and bass. The speakers just moved. And I didn't wanna just saying that I had 8 15's when four of them were actually making the bass. I kinda thought I wouldn't get any bass because I tried that with my first system. In order for me to get bass that way I would have to build a wall behind the seat. I don't wanna do that.

    Ported Enclosure

I have been building boxes for sometime and I notice that a lot of boxes have the same concept but are built a little different. When I build a ported box for two subs I normally direct the air out of the front (depending on the application) of the enclosure with a divider between both chambers. I have seen some enclosures with no divider coming out of the front, just a big hole. Does adding or taking away a divider give off a different sound? I also add one in the middle just to make the box more rigid. I am building two ported boxes for a van. Would it be better to port it in the front like I have been doing or to go another way. I would think that by porting it out the back I wouldn't get gain in bass do to the distance that it would have to travel to reach the front of the van.( gain from the port that is)

Fi BL 15 You mean like adding a balancing pipe on your exhaust or some call it an H-pipe. If so I see what you are saying.

    side ported enclosures

I have experimented with that before and it sounds good. I would think that the sound travels different in a house though. They are normally placed like 1 1/2in off the floor and though they work well when I tried the same thing in the car the bass seemed stay in one spot. It seems like it works better in cars if you are going to be sitting real close to the enclosure. My home theater sub is front fire port down and it is loud.

    t bolt ?

If you can get them to stay in place. The problem is always making it where is will not pull out of the box.

    side ported enclosures

From what I understood, which I read years ago is that you need to give the port at least the same amount of space as its diameter.
  15. Might as well do it all while I am still young. Its funny because I never said I would do all of this, but I now want to make myself as valuable as I can. Music is just my hobby but I now say I am going to get certified in that. Besides its kinda hard getting business when you haven't been to school for it. I must say that I have the utmost respect for you HVAC guys. That is something amazed me when I really got a crash course in it. But my knowledge of audio helped me learned it easier when it came down to powering everything.
  16. You got to be the man of the house as well. Is doesn't make much since having nice cars while your house needs renovation. Some guys trip me out with that. They put a lot into their cars and their house is lacking the attention it needs. Me personally I am going to school for construction management, welding, architecture, CAD, and audio just so it can look good as a business owner. Well I am almost finish welding and CM, but I start CAD next semester. I want my house to sound just as good as my car and look just as good. I wouldn't mind seening how I measure up with my next setup against you Mr. Meade.

Great subs that never should have been discontinued....

I would love to see that. Of course everything now is made for job security. I remember how good things used to sound years ago when I was young. It seems like you have to spend thousands now.

Great subs that never should have been discontinued....

I don't know if anybody remembers, but Orion a really big speaker back in the day. I can't remember how big it was but let's say the jackhammer wasn't really the biggest, baddest sub ever made. I think audiobahn made one that was like 38in( special order of course) that handled 10,000 watts. To think everybody shouts jackhammer and larger subs have been produced. Anybody know whether these subs are still being made or maybe someone that has them wants to sell them. The guy who had the Orions drove a hearse.

    Competition results

Nice I wish you could come to Orangeburg to show this guys down here what a real system sounds like. I just hope I will be able to generate enough pressure in my van to do a hair trick. I moved a little bit of air when I had my Cerwin Vegas but I did not think to even try it. I just know that when I had the heat on the air from the back pushed the heat from the vents back to the front of the van. I also had a lot of flexing on the back door. The ladder looked like it wanted to jump off and a couple of screws came loose. The wood trim on the interior came down. I sold them and I hope Fi will help me get it back. The platform I built now gets it up off of the floor a little and the bass is more focused at ear level and spread out.

    Bass processor

I am buying a bass maximizer from audiocontrol. I needed to know if I needed two sense I was getting two amps or would one be enough.
  21. I wouldn't continue to used it. Most manufacters will tell you to only use their remote to control amps, crossovers, etc. for that reason and others. I would suggest that you try locating a replacement. You have to take into thought that the bass boost circuit varies from amp to even though they all do the same thing. The amount of bass boost the amp has may be different from another and the potientometer might also be different. It just sounds like the control increases faster than that of the amp because it is a different brand. Have you ever had an amp where the knob would keep turning and whatever you controlled reached the limit and started over. It kinda sounds like the problem you are having. Like I said earlier to avoid any problems I would just get a knob that was meant to be used on that particular component. Things like that voids warranties and put you at risk of messing up something.

hmmmm scary ride home for me....

I don't like to use ring terminals. I prefer using grounding terminals. You can actually tell the difference. It seems like it takes the strain off the system a lil.

hmmmm scary ride home for me....

I was planning on upgrading my ground just to avoid that happening. I added a second ground in the back that goes straight to the chasis. The battery is grounded, the cap is grounded, and the amp is grounded. Since I weld I just made a grounding center. It takes all of the guess work out of finding grounding point because it is one big a$$ ground. It looks like a power rail that you may find in an amp except it is attached to the floor by bolts and a couple of wires are ran from it to the chasis just in case I decide to shake some bolts loose. I have had problems with my setup, but the only thing that burned up was the fuse. You can never be too safe when making sure you have a sufficient ground. I always safe if you thinks its good enough, you may wanna do a little bit more just to be on the safe side.

    Which is the better choice.

Ported. I plan to have a subsonic filter set at 25hz. I know you are not supposed to tune the box lower than the Fs. I want more spl I, but I do not wanna sacrifice my lows.
