  1. I have a PPI pc1800.2 that burned out. I haven't opened it yet to see what fried but it's definitely dead. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place down in Glendale or LA or even OC that knows where I can get it repaired? It's a sexy amp and I'm not willing to let it go.
  2. Not in your area but they will get the job done right! http://www.db-r.com/ Yea he posted on CA forum that he's packed and doesn't have time to work on it. I need to find an alternative. really hoping to find a local guy

    JL W3v2 Recone?

I have a 12w3v2 with a blown coil. Is it worth reconing? or can I just do it for fun? Who and where or what can I use to recone it?

    Eating Fuses...

Whenever I'm blasting my sub my fuse will blow in less than a minute. I'm running 80amp AGU fuse with 4 gauge wires and a PPI 2200 amp. What could cause this? Is there anyway I can fix this problem? I'm not sure but I think my ground wire is a 8 gauge. Oh and I'm looking to have someone build a custom box for me that involves bending plexi glass.

Yes I plan on taking that P.O.S. out too. My cap is total garbage

    Eating Fuses...

Thanks for your help but I think I found out why my fuse kept blowing. I rewired my sub to 4ohm and it seems to be doing just fine. I will probably switch out to a 120 amp ANL fuse just because ANL fuse would be more reliable and my wiring will allow it.

    Eating Fuses...

OK so I checked and I'm running 4gauge but there are these 8gauge wires I think that's hooked up to my Cap. I think another problem is that I have my sub wired at 1ohm and my amp is 4ohm

    Eating Fuses...

how do i test that? Plus I might need to run new wire. A friend of mine says I actually have 8 gauge. I'm pulling 800watts. I've blown 100amp AGU in less than 2 minutes

    JL W3v2 Recone?

See I know it's not worth doing if I send it to JL but would it be worth it if I could get FI soft parts?

    Vids of my BMs.

Man those look fantastic! I'm debating if I should get the BM or get the SD-1 hahaha there is a huge price difference. But I'm interested in the BM since it's a good sub and the SD-1 cuz of the absolutely great price.

    Ok guy I give up

Like I said before not doing anything crazy I just want them to be in factory location. I didn't understand half the stuff you were talking about in the last cabin speaker thread I started. If you wouldn't mind explaining more that would be really helpful for me. This has been really great I've been learning so much. I think for my sub-stage I'm going to run an FI Q in a ported box. The box will be custom made for the sub so no worries there. Amp is still going to be the ppi pcx 800watts rms at 4ohms.

    Ok guy I give up

Ok guys I give up! I need your help to completely redo my substage. My goal for my system is to have some loud SQ if at all possible. Want 2 10'' or 1 12''. Only thing I'm keeping from my current stock is my amp which is a PPI PCX 2200. Price range 600-700 Type of music: Hiphop/ R&B Car: 1997 bmw with the fold down seats. Completely starting over with your advice since I can't do it right on my own. Thanks in advance.

    Ok guy I give up

I've been checking out the BSW speaker upgrade for my car. pricey but they use rainbow dream line. what do you guys think?

    Ok guy I give up

What are mid range? The car has a 3 way system 5 1/4'' in the kick panels, i think what looks like 2'' or 2 1/2'' in the doors along with like a 1'' tweet so which one is mid range? I know for a fact that i hate metal dome tweets too sharp and cold. I like my music to be warm and smooth. been going around to best buys, circuit city, and those places to check out speakers... not that i'm proud of that but it's kinda hard to get a meet going on DIYMA. They want to do it on Oct 20. I want to hear some stuff before then. Any suggestions that'll at least point me in the right direction?

    Ok guy I give up

Ok, if I have to have more power to have a loud sub and apparently 1500-2000watts is going to be what I need to have a good woofer. What's a good budget amp? or just a good performing amp. Like I said earlier I want to maintain the same quality as the PPI PCX that I currently have.

    Ok guy I give up

Well I wasn't looking to port 2 12's was looking to port a single 12 or 2 10's if it's not possible to do two 10's ported since i'm leaning towards two 10's unless i can get a 12 mag d2.

    Ok guy I give up

Well, I figure I can sacrifice 2.5cubic feet plus or minus some. like i said in my first post 1 12 or 2 10s

    Ok guy I give up

mlstrass had my direction right. But M5 helped point things out that i needed more that just a substage. I'm definitely interested in what subs/box/amp combo will make a great sub-stage. But I do want to hear my music so getting a front stage is absolutely essential. So help in both would be optimal.

    Ok guy I give up

I want to thank you guys so much in helping me out. Apparently car audio system is much more than just subs and an amp. One thing I know is that I'm not going after any kind of competition system. The part about being loud is just I want my bass to travel. Most of the time I just want to have good music. What's DIYMA? You guys are right I have a lot to learn and I need to listen to what's out there. I'm not looking to spend over 1k on my sound system just cuz most of it won't be transferable to another car. I don't have plans on switch out my car for many years but the fact that it's already over 140k mileage I don't know how much longer it'll last. I want my front stage to be warm and clear and clean. I want my sub to hit clean bass. If I find out what DIYMA is I'll definitely put a post there to see if I can check out some people's set ups and how much they spent so I can have a better idea about where to go. Thank you for your patience and please continue to school me on all of your car audio knowledge.

    Ok guy I give up

ok... well i guess i'm far more noob than i ever thought i was. apparently SQ and SPL mean different things to you guys. Maybe it might help me if you broke it down for me. And yea I will be going out to look at speakers I need to find a good shop in OC that has a cars to show me or something. and what is substage? frontstage?

    Ok guy I give up

HD? 1500-2000 watts?! can my car even fit an amp that big? lol ok well if that's how i described my system... well can i get a moderate? I mean I haven't been around any pro's system b4. Just around your average joe.
  22. yenwen

    Ok guy I give up

As for speakers naw I haven't really heard anything really nice. Type Rs are cool but kinda cold. same with the low end focals. upping the power by how much? I mean 1000watt ppi is practically impossible to find. and i want to stick with the same quality.
  23. yenwen

    Ok guy I give up

but really can i get some help on a 2 way set up for my front stage?
  24. yenwen

    Ok guy I give up

oh yea my bad my amp is 800 watts at 2ohms bridged
  25. yenwen

    Ok guy I give up
