  1. I just replaced my 2 Zed Gladius with Alpine PDX 4.150 on Saturday, I can definitely tell you these Gladius sound better. The high is more detail, over tonality is better, more warm sound. I have to put them up for sale, they are just to big to fit under the seats and leave comfortable leg room. Although I do have Burr Brown opamp upgrade, so that wouldn't be fair compare it to a regular amp. They never got hot either. http://picasaweb.google.com/awaysooner

    My Zed Gladius Install

It's 8 ohm unfortunately I have verified. The positive and negative of each of the voice coils are wired to each others, and the other +ve and -ve goes to the amp. I am probably trying to turn the gain up too much hoping to get more output out of the 8ohm sub.

    My Zed Gladius Install

Who said they are big? The fit right under the seat. One of the amp is bridged currently powering a single ID8, wired in 8 ohm. It's pretty loud but goes into protection rather quickly if bass boost is used. I am going to add another ID8 to run them 4ohm mono to get the best out of it. Here's the rest of my install. http://picasaweb.google.com/awaysooner/MyForesterAudio

Would you guys buy amps or subs off ebay?

It's hit an miss really. I recently bought Apple MacBook Pro for $1899 from ebay, the seller never sent the product and gave me the run around. Refunded after paypal dispute, took forever. I wouldn't buy anything on ebay for more than $500. Bought an ID8 on ebay from imagedynamicstore, it has no output at all! Now he wants me to send to manufacturer for waranty, yeah $99 sub for like $30 shipping to Canada? That's $99 down the drain. You can get some very good deals on ebay, or get completely ripped off. Just be careful and make sure the person has good RECENT feedback. I remember when The Zeb went under and had nearly perfect feedback up until that point. The last couple months they were on ebay they took hundreds of people's money and never sent any product. I've found that I get the best deals from auctions that end during the week at odd times. You will pay more if the auction ends on the weekend. I recently got an Adcom GFP-555 II preamp in perfect condition for $140. Probabably the best deal I've gotten yet.

Does Zed still make Nakamichi amps?

Actually based on my last email with him 2 weeks ago, he said yes. Zed Audio still make Nakamichi. But then why would I buy nakamichi when I can buy Zed Audio? I am pretty sure Steve hasn't made amps for them for quite some time.
