    Sundown Decals

Yeah, I can do custom stuff as long as the overall size is 4" x 9" or less. I make all the decals that size or less so they'll fit into a regular envelope making shipping extremely cheap & easy.

    Sundown vs RF testing

Here is the link to the first test. A single Sundown 1500d against a Single RF T10001bd @ 1ohm each. http://www.*****.com/board/ind...showtopic=14472 I consider these amps to be equal because they're actual output is near identical and they're amperage rating is near identical. Our first test showed the amps to perform almost identical except the Rockford pulled more power to do so. To me this clearly shows that the 1500s have a higher efficiency. This efficiency became even more apparent in the second "low power" test with a pair of amps. The Sundowns held consistent with more ouput even though they had dips into the 10v range. On the other hand, the Rockford's power output fell quickly under these low power circumstance. Everyone is wanting this test redone with adequate power which will happen. I'm already predicting that while the Rockfords will perform better with adequate power, the Sundowns will do exponentially better with their higher efficiency.

    Jacob (New Amps)

Yah, something like that. 200-amp fuse rating is correct. The fuse rating sound good for running in an NSPL trunk class. A 500watt @ 4ohm rating would cool also since our local comps still use the 4ohm power rating classification. We need a really powerful 0.5ohm stable amp for use in this class. I'll definitely be looking to upgrade from my 1500s to a pair of 2000s.

    Jacob (New Amps)

    Any preliminary ratings for a saz-2000d? Something like 500x1 @ 4ohm, 1000x1 @ 2ohm, and 2000x1 @ 1ohm w/ a 200amp fuse rating?

    Representing Fi

Myself and Troy (tejcurrent) attended a local competition today and I believe we respresented Fi nicely. I took 1st in the Truck/Suv 501-1500 class w/ a 146.5 @ 41hz, second in the StreetBass Unlimited class w/ a 142 something playing Gorilla Zoe - Do It, and was runner up in 139.9 BassRace. StreetBass is similiar to BassRace expect you run solo, are allowed to open doors & roll down windows, mic is at the bottom center of the windshield, and you average over 60 seconds. The BassRace was the most exciting since it was my first time doing BassRace. My first two rounds in elimination were cake, but in the finals I was up against Walt Johnson. Walt is the SC BassRace points leader and has plenty of experience at this. I held my own nicely but broke out at the last second. The countdown literally hit 0 at the same time my score bumped up to 140. Here's the vid and a couple pics of my setup.

    BTL 18 box

Yeah, I'm planning on going. The only problem is my wife got scheduled to work Saturday which means I have to either find a babysitter or take my kids with me. I don't mind taking my kids to a comp but it limits my time there since they won't stay still for long. Either way I will make it and I will bring the TL. The offer is still good. I'm working on getting the Competition Only guys to start their own form of BassRace this next season. They're all for it but the rules still have to be worked out. I'm wanting them to do spl classes like BassRace except outlaw style with doors & windows open, mic in the kick, and 60sec runs. This should really bring out the groundpounders and keep the fart machines out.

So you're gonna make it to the show in Andrews Saturday? I hope to see you there.

    bass race

What was the song? What size is your stock battery? What size is your alternator? What kind of amp do you have? What impedance are you running your amp at?

    SPL Box for Bl 18s

I have four 4" aeroports from previous installs. How many do you recommend for use with the 18s? I'm thinking of lowering box volume to 10ft.

    SPL Box for Bl 18s

My current box pounds in the 30-32hz range and I love it but I also love to compete in local competitions so I need a new box for all out spl. My trucks frequency is 41hz. Can someone help me with the correct box volume and port specs for a box that will peak at 41hz for spl only? The subs are a pair of Fi Bl 18s. Thanks.

    SPL Box for Bl 18s

So far no matter what sub setup I've used it hits its highest scores at 40-41hz. To get the best scores I've had to tune my boxes to 32hz. I've tried tuning higher with my old and new sub setup but my scores get worse. My current box with the pair of 18s has a removable port and with anything higher than a 32hz tuning my scores drop. The sub up port back configuration will be my next test. I tried it before with my 12s and they did better with subs and ports facing the rear. Hopefully these 18s will react differently.

    SPL Box for Bl 18s

49"wide x 19"height x 36"deep are the max external dimensions I would like to use, but I can go taller if needed. My current setup has the subs and port facing the rear but everyone is telling me it'll be louder with subs up so I plan on switching to a subs up port back setup to at least try it. I'm not sure if it'll matter but the vehicle is an '06 Yukon and I'm powering the subs (dual 2ohm) by a pair of RF T10001BDs.

    Bl 18s Box Build

    Bl 18s Box Build

There was a comp today. With no way of taking 1st in my class I played a 30hz & 32hz tone for the hell of it and it did a 145.5 @ 30hz and a 145.7 @ 32hz. The only change was adding a YellowTop to the back. I still have dips to the 11s but before the 2nd batt it dipped to the 9.8-10.0 range. Everyone is saying point the subs up port back so I'm gonna try it. I really want to hit a 150 with this setup.

    Bl 18s Box Build

So my best score on the TL is a 146.7 @ 41hz w/ the box tuned to 32hz. Today I retuned the box to 36hz and my score got worse. It did a 146.2 @ 41hz. The next thing I tried was to tune it slightly lower at 31hz and it again hit a 146.2 but whats amazing to me is it did a 143.7 @ 30hz. I'm thinking my next step will be to try the subs up port back thing. It didn't work well for my 12s, but hopefully I'll have better luck here with the 18s.

    Bl 18s Box Build

Thats exactly what I was thinking as I already have a 36hz port set to the side for this box. I have a multimeter but don't have a current clamp. Thats a nice term "Bottom End Monster" and thats exactly what this thing is. The best I saw on the TL was a 146.7 @ 41hz and it held in the 143db range all the way down to 30hz which is damn good in my book.

    Bl 18s Box Build

Also I could use some new box recommendations. My truck peaks at 41hz and would like more spl there with the capability to swap tuning down to low 30hz range and pound on the street also. Thanks.

    Opinions needed ***18" BTL Install***

I've easily fit 49" wide boxes into my '01 and '06 Yukons. It makes box building so much easier.

    Competition results

We're doing a similiar build in my bro's Excursion. Four dual 1ohm BTL 18s powered by eight Hifonics bx2005ds. We haven't made it to the subs & enclosure yet though. Its a slow build since we're not planning on competing with it until next season. His past setup was a pair of TeamRF 12s. It did alright with a 145.5 @ 30hz and stayed in the 140s down to 26hz. While it did "wow" the crowd seeing the sides of an Excursion flex like crazy, it wasn't competitive for the 1501-up class. I haven't started on building my box yet. So far I've only drawn it out on paper. It'll be 12.33ft w/ 192.5in of port tuned to 32hz. I wouldn't mind it being a little bigger in the 13-14ft range but I don't want to rise above the window line. Check out the Competition Only website www.competitiononly.com They have shows here in Sumter about every other week. The next show is the 14th and I believe they're having one the following weekend also on the 21st. Good luck with the new truck.
