  1. in my 2000 ford Explorer

    subs forward >>> ports up ^^^ i gain 2.3db

I tried subs forward & ports up this afternoon and lost 1db. :( So I tried it with the mic in the kick and still lost 1db compared to subs up & port back.

was your box all the way back to the rear window ?

passenger seat all the way forward ?

passenger visor 1/2 way down - glove box open ???

    Yes

    No

    No

  2. aHHHH your playing @ Usaci ??? they have too many rules... i can never figure out what i can or cant do with them

Our two local organizations are NSPL and Competition Only. If I can gain 2db I'll work out some kind of way to change this setup.

Ford302, yes I'll be at the show May 10th in Andrews, SC.

  3. are you running the amps seprate ?

    or Master & Slave ?

i see better #s in your future...

Subs forward >>> Ports up ^^^

good for a 2db increse in my SPLXplorer

ill PM ya a pics so i dont get hammered for thread jacking...

The amps are strapped. I'm not sure if I can fit subs forward, ports up. Everything must stay below the window line which is only like 15.25" in my Explorer. The subs might make it but the ports won't.

  4. I posted these on a couple other forums and figured I might as well share them here.

2 Sundown NightShade 15s powered by a pair of Sundown SAZ-1500Ds.

First hit. These are legal scores. (sealed up, mic on the windshield)

    After finding the right frequency.

Door open, mic still on the windshield.

Hardcore score. (door open, mic in the kick)

This is in no way an spl setup. It plays music great and is already ripping my Explorer apart. The sunroof, that was previous glued & sealed shut, has ripped open and the mechanism that lifts & lowers it is completely trashed. The side windows are falling out. I'll be resealing the sunroof and side windows very soon. Its either that or I'm afraid they're gonna fall out driving down the road.

So far I'm very satisfied with these subs. Keep in mind that these were brand new and very stiff. I'm expecting a few more tenths after they get broken in. I gained 0.3db in a couple days with my Bls getting broken in. Also I haven't played with box tuning at all. I'll get to that this weekend and dial it in some more. The short term goal is consistant 151s.

  5. better cooling...like it...and sexy as always

i find it interesting that it needed additional cooling. I run one at 2ohms and it doesnt even get warm....I mean barely noticible it is even running warm. Very impressive amp to say the least. I imagine at 1ohm it might be a different story but man it runs colder than anything else I have ever used.

Its more overkill than a requirement. Even at 1ohm my 1500s barely get warm.

  6. did you get the numbers at the exact same time? if not thats why they are so high

The ouput #s (volts and amps) were read at the exact same time then the meters were moved to the input side and both voltage drop and current draw were measured at the same time. These were back to back tests and both hit a 147.3 on the TL.

Also those ouput #s were my peak #s. The clamp was set to hold max and the voltage ouput was the first # I saw pop up on the dmm.

  7. Hmmmm, very interesting to say the least. Only seems possible on the most extreme situation though. Maybe too much tolerance on the measuring equipment itself.

Both the dmm and clamp are made by Craftsman. I don't doubt that they aren't perfect.

  8. did you use an oscilloscope when testing for output?

Just the TL. The signal looked as good as it does in the vid above. The only difference was the test #s were w/ a 50hz tone and in the vid I peaked w/ a 45hz tone.

  9. Today I was doing some testing on a new setup and I got some incredible #s out of my Sundown 1500d. It was running @ 0.5ohm pushing a pair of d2 Kicker cvr 15s. A 50hz test tone was used. The output voltage was 42.2v and the clamp meter read 64.1a of current output. Thats 2700watts w/ rise to 0.65 ohms. I couldn't believe it so I moved the clamp and dmm to the input side and got 315a of current draw w/ voltage dropping from 14.3v to 12.8v. 315a * 12.8v = 2700watts of ouput @ 67% efficiency. Am I doing this correct? I'm completely astounded to see 2700watts out of a single 1500d. In case anyone's interested, the setup hit a 147.3 on a TL legal, sealed, mic on the windshield. I'll post a vid up as soon as it uploads.

  10. I mainly compete locally here in SC with Competition Only. They're a small/local group. www.competitiononly.com I'm the one in the bottom row wearing the camo jacket. They use old school 4ohm ratings for their classes. Last season I competed in Truck/Suv 501-1500. This season I'm doing primarily Street Bass (identical to BassRace). I was wanting to jump back into the 501-1500 class but if I upgrade to a pair of 3ks then I'll end up doing Street Bass and probably a hardcore class. My bro will be in Truck/Suv 1501-up so I don't want to go into the same class as him.

I've also been thinking of making my way up to NC to hit some NSPL shows. There I'd like to compete in the Truck/Suv 31-60" class but I'm limited to a pair of amps with a max fuse rating of 200a each.

I'd love to compete with some other organizations like BassRace, Usac, or Meca but there aren't any events around here.

  11. It looks like I'll just have to upgrade to a pair of 3000s then and change up classes. It won't hurt me this season, but I'll have to rethink what class(es) I want to do next year.

  12. Any idea how soon this model will be released? Since my upgrade to three subs I'm in need of more power and would like to stay Sundown. I'm limited however to a pair of amps that have no more than a 750watt power rating @ 4ohm and 200a max rated current draw each. The 2000s should fit perfect. I'm looking to upgrade this summer in about three months or so. Will they be out by that time.

  13. For amps that are strapped, is it a little different since the positive from both amps are used? The clamped amperage of the amplifier connected to my positive terminal was 48.6. The AC voltage was 37.5. That = 0.77 ohms but that has to be per amp, right? That also = 1822watts of power. If that is per amp then thats 3644watts of power with rise up to 1.54ohms at about 67% efficiency.

  14. How do I measure it?

I have a pair of 1500s strapped on three Fi Bl 18s (dual 2ohm) in a series/parallel configuration. I've already clamped the amplifiers and they are pulling 460a of current, voltage drops from 14.4 to 11.8, and resting resistance is 1ohm. What else is there?

  15. I'm not a member over there & have no intrest in joining can you just give me your email addy & paypal info in a P.M. I want at least 6 of them mybe 8.

Or even a aim screen name & I'll hit you on aim after work if you use it my aim is bigdog829 MCM

    Thanks bigdog

Don't worry about signing up over there. The links were just to show examples & references. I don't mess with aim but I'll pm you my info.

  16. Yours look good. Can you do custom layouts if provided with artwork? :superman:

Yeah, I can do custom stuff as long as the overall size is 4" x 9" or less. I make all the decals that size or less so they'll fit into a regular envelope making shipping extremely cheap & easy.
