The crazy thing is we didn't do any real testing to figure out peak frequency. Just a quick low volume sweep then play the first tone on the Ipod. And that was only about 2/3 volume. Subs were barely moving.

  2. We're working on a new build for the Excursion. 16 Sundown Audio sa-12s powered by 4 saz-3500s.

Laminating. The entire box will be at least two layers thick. Three & four layers in certain places.

Lots more work to do. I barely got started on the port work. No where near done with that piece & I have two more identical pieces to build.

    Stay tuned...

  3. The price for both amps makes a big deal. Sundown over a 1000$ and the AQ 700$. I dont see why you would pay 400$ more for a few hundred watts. Heck to hear some people say it on this forum you wont notice a few hundred watts by ear. So why spend the money.

You're supposed to be a competitor right??? A few hundred watts in my Explorer = 1 full db on the TL. That's a big difference in the lanes.

  4. I'll squeeze eight 8s into the Sentra, in the trunk. All 8 subs forward sealed off ported up through the rear deck. Depending on coil configuration I'll power them with a single saz-4500d or a pair of saz-2000s. That's it, the plan is done. Your turn to get the subs here.

  5. "Gary Fletcher (Team Sundown) from TN scored 157 dB in Radical X1 for "SP Best of Show", in his 1992 Dodge Caravan. Gary uses 2 Sundown 1500's XS Power batteries. He won $250 for producing the highest sound pressure score at the event. Paul Strouth (Team Outcast/Sundown) won $150 for 2nd highest SPL score. Joshua Newton (Team Carlisle Acoustics/Sundown/Xstatic) from Carlisle, KY won $100 for 3rd highestscore with 154.7 dB, and that was in the M4 class."

    Woot!

  6. it's time to start doing hard bracing.

Walk around the vehicle and find anything flexing or leaking air.

Seal everything and prevent anything from flexing.

Did u ever do port testing before u permanently built your box?

I'm about to start doing port testing on mine soon.. it takes about a month or so to test.

resin the inside of the box over and over and over....

The slicker the surface, the faster air can move.

Holding the hatch or doors doesn't do anything. Bracing the roof helps. Not sure what you mean by port testing???

  7. With 12 Kinetik 2400s in the back you won't have any problem running a single saz-3000d @ 0.4dcr. How are you getting 0.4dcr from four d2 subs? Are you planning on running more than one amp? Even if you had four amps you have enough power to support them.
