    DD anyone?

Buddy of mine bought a DD9515 and had it reconed to an 18. He brought it over and we spent a couple days building the box for him. Carpet needs to be laid, but I don't think he's worried about it right now. he set a car alarm off from almost a half block away. enjoy

What to get? Will it fit?

4 cubes should be possible, the taurus like that has a fold-down back seat which should help you get the box back there in the first place. Building the box in the trunk sucks, haha.

    Underpowering a sub

As long as you are smart, I'd encourage that sort of headroom. Yummy. If you are dumb, kiss your subs goodbye. Well, I'm not dumb. I agree with the desire for that kind of headroom, but it needs to be done with care. I just never understood why people talked about "underpowering" a sub or amp. Undervoltage, yes, but not underpowering. Thanks guys!

    Underpowering a sub

Ok, lets say I was to upgrade amps with plans of upgrading subs in the future. But my current subs will only take the amp with the gains at...say 20%, would that hurt it?

    Underpowering a sub

little off topic, but what flakko said about every time you turn the volume down, it would have the same effect. What about with an amp? you hear about "underpower" but does that really mean to keep the amp at RMS all the time? it's not making sense.

    career in mobile audio

agreed. When I was applying for product lines for my business, the guy at Power Acoustik told me I needed to be MECP certified before they would accept me. So I got the book, and seriously..it's a joke. What's even funnier though...Atomic didn't even ask if I was MECP certified

    Music mixing software

I have used Audacity for recording some of my guitar stuff. It's not "professional" by any means, but it's extremely easy to use and the sound quality isn't as bad as you would think. You can get cable adapters and plug her keyboard straight into the mic port on your computer. I did all my recording with a mic and had a lot of fun doing it. I've been using fruity loops a little bit, very fun program if you are seriously interested in mixing and such...but I wouldn't just use it as a "tinkering around recording fun" kind of program.

    DD anyone?

  20. Just for example...I want to run 4 subs off a monoblock amp with 2 channels of amplification. If I run 2 subs wired in series to get my desired ohm load. Say I'm putting out 500 watts to one channel of power, do both subs see 500 watts? or is it changed a little?

    Technoe music

Paul Van Dyk is pretty cool. I'm a big fan of "Crush", "Ready Steady Go", "Forbidden Fruit", "Nothing but You", and "For an Angel" George Acosta has a cool song called "Angels fall first" that might be worth looking into *edit to add* If anyone can find the original mix of "without you" by Nathan Profitt, please get ahold me of another...I can't seem to find the Gigi D'Agostino remix of "popcorn" it's the track from this video

My pontiac has a small trunk

Thanks for the compliments guys! to anybody that doesn't like it...I'm sorry I've disappointed you. I don't like a solid MDF downfire box for one reason....YOU CAN'T SEE THE SUB! so I'm going to rebuild it very similar, but add a little more size to it, i can add 2 inches of height on it...that should help a little. Basically, I am going to build the top out of fiberglass so you can look down inside and see the basket of the sub so this box is done until I find someone that wants it.

My pontiac has a small trunk

Ok, I got my first 15" sub today. All I've ever dealt with before are 10's and 12's. At the moment I have a pair of 12's in the back of my 97 Grand am, each one seeing 1.25 cubes sealed. The box is easy to work with, I can have the whole thing pulled out in a matter of minutes. I would like to have something similar with this 15. One problem....the clearance through the backseat is only 13.5 inches, I believe. The space to go in through the back isn't very easy to work with either. If I build a box that has the sub laying on it's back with the cone up, I really think I'll lose a lot of the potential from the sub that I would normally get from rear-firing it. Also, I have been toying with a couple other ideas. Point the sub up, rear-fire the port? Possibly even downfire with 3 out of the 4 walls passing the baffle and meeting the floor, then have the one to the rear meet the baffle. With this idea I could even use a plexiglass back and still be able to see the basket of the sub. Any ideas or suggestions?

My pontiac has a small trunk

A lot of people tune lower, but I decided to tune it a little higher to make it sound more well-rounded for when I'm listening to rock. the box I was showing earlier is tuned to 40, the one we just built for my friends truck is also 40. The one we built for the blazer is 42, and you just might be amazed at how loud it gets The guy with the blazer is getting a mustang next week, then we'll play with some lower tunings.
