  1. nice setup, better get some electrical upgrades done ASAP though. we put a BX1500 (@2ohms also) in my friends '72 BMW Bavaria a few years back and literally a week later the alternator went, then the voltage regulator, then a couple batteries, then the amp cooked (from low voltage i am assuming)

With 2 12" Kappa Perfects In 4 cubes tuned to 35hz it was crazy loud for a short amount of time though

Ive told the guy to get an extra battery and eventually do an alternator conversion........maybe he will....who knows?

Oh and thanks to everybody else for the nice comments.......the car was done up very nicely by somebody before he bought it, and all it was missing was a nice stereo.....problem solved

  2. Here is a little system I hooked up for a friend of mine..

    1965 VW Beetle

    Kenwood Excelon KDC-X692

2 Kenwood 6.5" 3-way coaxials in custom kick panels (forgot to take pics)

2 tweeters (already installed, sounded ok so I left em)

10" Incriminator Audio 187 in 2 cubes @ 35 hz (custom VW logo in plexi window)

    Hifonics BX1500d @ 2 ohms

Future upgraded battery, and hopefully an alternator conversion

I think it turned out very nice. Hits the lows in rap songs very well, and also hits all the bass drum kicks perfectly. I played the live acoustic version of Hotel California in it, and was very impressed with both the midrange and the bass kicks in that song.......so anyway, here are a few pics.

  3. Would one of the 187's be able to take 400 daily if it's clean power? If it can, what size sealed enclosure would it need for optimum results? I appreciate it guys, looks like a great sub.

    Kef

Yes it would, with ease. 1.4-2 cubes is the recommended sealed enclosure. Thanks!!

  4. First I want to say that the sale was a HUGE success. We sold alot more equipment than we expected to. Nick and I want to personally thank each and every person that placed an order with us this past year, and helped IA have a record year in sales and production.

I really hate that some people had to wait for their subs, but like Denim said, we were soooooooo slammed with orders from the sale (esp. after Christmas) that we couldn't keep up. As a matter of fact, Nick stayed at the office 24 hrs one day before CES trying to get orders out. I just ask that anyone that is waiting for their subs, be patient with us and it will be worth the wait.

Thanks to everyone for their business, and we look forward to a great year and to releasing some great new products!

    THANKS!!!!!!

  5. Wow, only reason I registered on this site is to stay up to date with IA. Currently have their 12" Lethal Injection in a 2.5 @ 32hz box by Fisher Customs, powered by a Nine.5 amp @ 1ohm seeing roughly 700-750RMS.

But I plan on doing something more extreme, but IA only had mono amps, now that a 4 channel is on the way, I think its time to sell the Nine.5 and get a 6.4 and a 20.1.

Question, will it look identical to the new 20.1, but of course smaller?

    Yes

    :)

  6. Well I just got my recones an baskets today for my soon to be DP 21's. This will be my first time doing a recone and I'm very eager to do it but a couple things I need help on. I emailed nick but I didn't know with him being at the CES deal if he would get back to me before next week.

My first question is there are 6 little black plastic deals that I am not sure what I do with them? the are like hard plastic tubes. about a 1/4" long maybe shorter.

My second question is what do I use for a tool to gap the voice coil when I put the recone into the basket? I have heard that some companies say to use manila envelopes but I wasn't sure how thick they should be.

    Thanks for any help provided.

The 6 black things are aluminum spacers. That is your ADC (air driven cooling). You put those between the basket and the motor when you are bolting them together. A manilla envelope is fine to use. Anything you can use to make it tight when you are gluing the recone kit in will be good, such as (manilla envelope, thin plastic sheet, etc). If you have any more questions, let me know!

  7. i was told by a friend of mine who is a huge bass head and has much experience with building boxes that i should run it at 34 hz but i was gonna go with 32 originally so right now im in a stich of what to do

its not like its going to make a rediculous difference anyway............2 hz dude, come on! :)

  8. No, we can't do it on those, we can on the DP's.

Any reason you need a Dual 4? Most of the time a D1 or D2 will get it done.

Let me know and I will see what I can do...I might can make it happen.

    Thanks,

    Nick

It would be for the purposes of getting a 2 ohm load on a set of strapped amps. Of course I could run dual 1's and put an amp per 2, but I'm lazy ;) ! What is the reason you can't on the DR's vs the DP's?

because of the way the coils are made
