    YOUR LOCAL CAR AUDIO SHOPS

I actually went back to that shop today and who greeted me at the door? The same woman. I went there to find an interface to put in a radio for my dad's silverado and just stuck around for a while to see what has changed since they moved to a different location. I just asked to hear a W7 since I have never heard one before but she didn't have one hooked up. Ok, that's fine no problem. I asked what was comparable and she pushed for a Mojo. She hooked it up and played some techno bass demo cd and OH THE PORT NOISE lol. The box was made by them (no logo or company sig on it) and it sounded like hell on the really low notes. I asked her about the port noise but it seemed like she didn't hear me even though she looked right at me as I asked her. I knew it'd be a waste to hear the other subs in their own boxes when their pride and joy sounded like ass. Next I asked about the hiss from the speakers. She didn't even ask what my setup was, she just went through the basic check list like I was brand new to it. As she named off things, I eliminated each one with my reason. After she ran out, she started her sales pitch of the entry line of memphis amps... again without asking what my application was. If she didn't assume all the time, I would've talked to her maybe another 5 minutes or so. I just left after she tried to convince me to get a 2 channel amp rated at 200x2 @2 ohm... just about a perfect mismatch.

    YOUR LOCAL CAR AUDIO SHOPS

Maybe 5 years ago, I went to a place looking for advice to get to where I almost am now- a stereo with around +3000 watts. The lady told me "You don't need that much power. It's pretty hard to get it anyway so you might as well abandon that idea" I think I'll go back when after I get the subs and ask if they think my stereo has enough electrical support.

    What would you reccommend?

Idk if youd even have enough room for 1 18 with all the equipment youd need to run it.

Everything is hooked up. After the auto TA and EQ was set, the vocals and higher sounds sounded as if they originated right in front of the steering wheel I'm so happy that it's in but I'm still not done. The to-do list includes: -set the gains *right now they're easily lower than their proper level, especially the mids -eliminate the hiss coming from the tweeters as best as I can -put the sub setup back in -finish the door panels/tweeter mounts with bondo and carpet next month ($$) -clean up the garage and room -do something with the old ipod holder -hide the newly added auxiliary cable then fix the broken sub and make a box for the both of them once I have some money to spend I'll try to remember to take a picture or two tomorrow of the doors.

Started on the tweeters. I listened to them right next to the mids but I liked them up on the sails a little better. Maybe tomorrow or Thursday is when I'll finish the resin stage.

These pictures don't really show how much better and more smooth this one is coming out. It's almost all thanks to a new 4" grinder (with a sanding wheel I got for it) my dad got that came with a hammer drill he bought. It gets the job done in like 1/6th of the time that the 3" air grinder and orbital sander takes. But hopefully the orbital sander doesn't poop out on me during the bondo stage tomorrow.. it started to run roughly and slow way down even though there's only one speed The grinder is too much for finer sanding and I don't wanna take 89 days by sanding by hand.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it since I don't have a big variety of tools to work with. Any little bit will help

Got the 8" ring in. It barely rubs against the bottom of an interior piece so I'll have to grind that 1" section of the ring down.. Nothing major. I ended up making new adjustable rings for the mids. They took forever to make using the jigsaw.. again. 1.2 Liters of clay with .6 liters of styrofoam inside for the correct fb. This will be near the shape of the actual enclosure for it. It may change a bit, but I'll probably end up keeping it and add the layers tonight. View from right View from bottom View from left

    What Fuses do I need?

1 300a fuses for the 0g wire in the single fuse holder, 2x 150a mini fuses for the 4g wire in the dual fuse holder. Fuse to the wire.

Finished the base layer of the front passenger door. Next is the midbass layer, then the midrange layer. I'm not doing them both at the same time because the midrange needs its own airspace to follow tang band's recommendation. Btw those are hex screws and short cylinders of wood glassed in there. Now Im waiting to ask a friend to come over sometime this week to use as a second set of hands to position the midbass while I hot glue the support dowels to the ring and base.

    Efficient Marine 12" Sub?

Why not have a compact shallow mount in a sealed box that you can easily remove? Put it near the foot of the driver so it wont get wet and take it out every time you dock the boat

These are pics of all main power and ground wires replaced with 4/0g. Ok remember that cup I made for the midrange? I couple months ago I got a hold of the company to see what they recommend for airspace in a sealed enclosure for my frequency range. They did not tell me displacement tho . So I had to find it myself using the water method. With that, I'll be using these temporary boxes to make sure of the positioning. They are 1.5L net, 1.8L total with internal dimensions of 5.25"l x 5.25"w x 4"h. btw, the top wasn't glued on in this pic.. that's why it looks crooked in the top right corner haha
