I realized I hadn't posted this on SSA so here it is. My car is a 1996 Chevy Lumina LS and is my daily driver. Everything is pretty much stock except for a few things- Excessive Amperage 200A alt Big 3 0g Optima yellowtop in front Northstar NSB 90 0g front to back As of a couple days ago I had a budget stereo. RF power 5 1/4 and 6x9 coaxials in the stock locations. A visonik 240xt to power them. I have 2 but only run 1 10" RF power HX2 sub in a 1.75 @33hz off of a DUB8001 amp. My HU is a premier p490ib with my 2G nano connected to it. But right now, I replaced the DUB amp with an RF T10001bd and gave my 6x9's away. Nothing looks really nice because its still temporary.. as in many wires aren't in their final locations, etc. There will be a few possible sections to this build log. Seat Screening Sub Box Amp Rack Glassing the Doors This wont be done until maybe early spring of 09 because of slow income and not much free time. Not to mention certain products aren't available yet. And now.... Seat screening. I got this idea from Thumpper and changed it a little bit. A blue blanket to hide everything the next couple days I wont have a back seat. I thought it fit nicely. Unmodified Screen color comparison... not perfect but close enough. Target area Knife time

Fixed? And to add after reading the rest of the thread... Upgrade your electrical first and just take the help you get. From what I remember, your ideas either didn't work or broke your xcon. LISTEN to the suggestions of the experienced. If they say you can easily add the mid bass woofers to the kick, it's probably true.

See, almost all of the movies listed above have a plot. That's fine, at least they have a plot. The worst movie EVER is Recon 2020 This movie is... just awful. I can't remember any coherence to any plot. I think there was like a T-rex or brontosaurus in it. There was a time traveling robot that would randomly appear and shoot at the main characters and leave after like 10 seconds. Some of the guns looked very similar to paintball guns. This wasn't a movie to watch because it was so terrible. I was genuinely mad at my friend for renting this and wanting us all to watch it because he stole between 1 and 2 hours that I'll never get back. I envied my other friend for falling asleep, and I wasn't at my house so I couldn't just lock myself in a different room. What a read. I think you should replace the Xcon with a couple 12" Pyle subs until you can control yourself to spare your wallet and nice equipment. Seriously.

Doors are finished. Its not good enough looking to be in a magazine, but good enough for me. Audio Innovations in Fresno gets the credit for carpeting and painting the pieces I made. This whole thing is so close to being finished. I'm going to take it to AI to have them fix as much of the hiss and whine issue as they can whenever I get some money and some time off. After that, it's just a matter of hiding all the wires, and fixing up the hole in the back seat, then it's done! Wooooowooooooooo!!

Congrats man, I love mine. For not doing any competitions or anything, it shakes things up enough for me. til I get a new car haha

A few days ago, I won a pack of damplifier Pro on here. I finally found some time to do a little bit today. Took me about 2 hours just to do this!! I'm going to use more than half for the doors from this pack, then the rest on some trunk areas. Possibly Wednesday is when I'll have a chunk of free time before finals week.

Damn I could've sworn I updated this when I finished it. Here's the door before application The target area was the outer shell. I abandoned my initial goal for 60% coverage when I heard a wonderful stereo in a brand new Shelby Mustang at Audio Innovations because they told me that there was a ****load of deadening in each front door. So I used all of what I had on my front doors. I started with the small cuts left over from when I did the trunk lid. Only the passenger side looks like a Picasso painting, the driver door is almost total coverage with large squares of damp with very few little cuts. After I covered what I could reach on the outer shell, I covered the key areas on the inner metal. A little more tricky, but still easy. Here is where I remember applying the damplifier pro on the reverse side of the inside metal. I didn't put it on the outside because I didn't want to completely remove the plastic lining because the glue that holds it in place is a real pain to work with. Aside from the problem with getting both of my 8's to work all the time, I can definitely notice a difference on the outside of the car. Much less vibration and noise from the door. As for inside, I noticed an increase in the volume from about 150-300hz. There was no difference from about 70-150 but I believe that to be from the door being insufficiently sealed to act as an optimal enclosure for the 8's. I still plan to add more damplifier much later on, summer time at the earliest.

That design I posted is a 6th order bandpass.

So I got both channels to work for some time today. I went to an electronics repair shop recommended by a local shop to see what they could do. Idk if I'll actually take it there because it was reeeeeeeeaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllly messy, all kinds of shit piled up everywhere, a dog inside the shop and the owner wasn't even around. The wife that barely spoke English that had only like half her teeth told me he went for a walk. yuuuuuuuuck

I have an old school memphis Belle 6-ch amp. Here is what I know for sure: -Channels 1-4 work fine. (4x75@4) -Channels 5 and 6 have possible the same problem, but 6 has it worse. (2x150@4 playing 80-250hz) -Channel 5 works maybe half the time at start up -Channel 6 never works on start up. -Power/ground/remote is secure and is 4awg. -Both speakers are connected properly. -Both speakers have power from the amp (I know this for a fact) -Neither speaker is blown, both have good coils and leads. -The RCAs are good and both send signal to the amp (again, I know this) -If I play a tone within range of the band pass and gradually turn up the volume to about 80% up to the volume I set my gains at, channel 5 will play a bit of static like it has a loose connection then play consistently at full output (with respect to the HU volume level) -If I play the same tone at the volume that the gains were set at or maybe a notch higher, channel 6 will emit very short ticks of static. I want to turn it up higher to 'bring it to life' like the 5th channel, but I don't want to cause any more problems. Another note, I noticed that after I 'wake up' the 5th channel, it may go out again. It does not cut out, it fades out. I can repeat the process by playing the tone to wake it up again. I don't do it very often to try and avoid further problems. I've never pushed this amp hard or anything, I've treated it with a lot of care. It's got to be something in the amp but I've never dealt with amp problems before. It seems to me that by turning it up, the amp has to work harder with heat as a byproduct. This heat inadvertently softens a cold solder joint enough to enlarge the solder to establish a better connection. This could work for the 6th channel but the gap in the connection is too big for the amount of expansion caused from the heat of normal use. But that idea is probably wrong. What could it be?

x2. This leads me to my suggestion for a mid: Tang band 1337 This was given a great review on the site. I have the w4-1720 and like it in the 300-2000hz range. I haven't had experience with the midbass drivers you listed, but the one I list is the Hertz High energy 8". I love that one. I've heard it in different cars and it sounds great.

I don't think it improves the sound. If anything, it would change the tuning but reducing port area. But since the coats are so thin, its negligible. The reason for me painting the port is entirely for aesthetics. Some may argue that the paint as a liquid will cover the pores in the MDF, but I don't know if that really makes a difference.

I've experienced a similar situation. I went over the fence and knocked on the back door and window. Got in just fine with no fear of cops.

Guess I didn't put up pics of the box when I finished it.. The rear deck is going to get carpeted too since it was badly sun damaged. I'll get the car tinted sometime down the road to prevent this from happening again. Here's the deck after a scrubbing with a wire brush. It got a little fiberglass reinforcement behind it too. I didn't take a pic of it before the scrubbing cause it was super ugly lol. While waiting for the resin to dry, I FINALLY finished the box. Carpeting it took like 5 hours because of the sides. I wanted something a little different than the 'gift wrapping' style, so I thought a slope would look nice. Installed the rest of the damplifier pro today. Took about 4 hours because it got dark and someone decided to ditch a car in the grapevines about 200 yards away and torch it. It's only about the 4th time it's happened on my street within 2 miles from my house. I suppose a quiet country street is the best place for it. When I get the panels back, I'll put them in and give a review.

yeah i have heard the kicker L7's from 10''s in a sealed box up to the 15 in a vented box. The L7 is not bad it has alot of lows but the mids are kinda missing I own the round version of the L7 called the Cvx it gets low and plays mids well but they are to main stream and ppl say they sound like crap but if your looking for deep bass they are not bad at all. I own a Kicker Cvx 15 and a kicker zx1000.1 what? what mids?

I wired and glued the top on today at about 5pm but the glue still isn't fully dry because of the humid and cold weather :mad: It'll get one or 2 more coats of paint tomorrow, then carpet. Til then, here's a little sneak And remember, each hole was cut freehand with a sabresaw. While I waited for the glue to dry, I started carpeting the doors. I didn't get very far tho.. only one done. One of the two easy back doors. I imagine the front doors to be a big pain in the ass. I am replacing the stock gray nylon cut pile on the lower half of the doors with gray velour fabric. Why? Because carpeting the front fiberglass panels with the stock cut pile would be horribly difficult because of the thickness of the material. Plus, I believe this looks and feels much nicer. I wanted suede, but the sewn suede that the store had looked bad compared to this. I was hoping that they had the microsuede in stock, but I'm out of time... the semester will start soon. A little bumpy on the bottom, but this is my first attempt and no one will see it.

This is taking a lot longer than I thought, but it'll be worth it. Clamps didn't work as well as wedging a block midway down the port.
