    Need help identifying a JL...

Okay. Neon trunk to be exact. I'm helping a friend, and it's his first build, so sealed preferably.

    Need help identifying a JL...

Right on. Which would you use? I'm going ported for sure, just need to figure out which one. The CV is clearly in much better shape.
  4. Got these for free and I need help identifying these for a budget build in my Dad's neon :/. Both aren't going in, just trying to figure out which one to use and what model that JL is... thanks for the help!

    What is 'better'...

That there is what he has. He doesn't have an amp yet. And he doesn't want to spend more than 120 on one.

    What is 'better'...

Got a friend with an extended cab s-10. He just bought, for a mere 40 dollars, the box(two chambers in one box at about 1.25 cubes a piece), an MTX thunder 6000 12" 8 ohm and a Sony Xplod 1200w 12" 4ohm. He wants SPL and I'm suggesting that he cut out the center divider, build a new front board that has only one 12" hole, and port it. It'd be roughly 2.5 cubes without the displacement of the port and sub. The amp will most likely be something cheap like a Crunch 1200.2. Another problem is that one sub is 8 ohm, and the other 4 ohms...not good?
  7. Thanks man. Infinity's good? Pioneer?
  8. So then buying those Pioneers or in even better set of passive components will be much better than my set of passive components unless I go active?
  9. I want to go passive over active right now because active seems way more expensive considering that this will be my first component build. But, how do I get good mids and tweets to sound good with the crossovers? JimJ said that these crossovers won't work too well? Amp: Crunch PowerZone 4-Channel Amplifier (PZi175.4). Sub: Dayton RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm 350w RMS. Tweets: Morel MDT-12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter 80w Mids: Dayton Classic DC130-8 6" 50w Crossover: Dayton XO2W-3K 2-Way Crossover 3,000 Hz Another question, will this ^ sound better than this: Pioneer Components, TS-C160R

    Tahoe Sub Install

Your best bet would be to make it yourself. If you buy a premade on, you have to pay really high prices, may not fit exactly, and you don't have the pride of saying you built it yourself.

    Your opinions...

I know what you mean, but I'm just starting and I'm in highschool with a small job with the 'rents slowing me down. Honestly, would putting in a component system with passive crossovers really sound that much worse than active and not much better than coaxials?

    Your opinions...

I'm severly caught between active and passive right now. Seems alot of money is spent with the 880 to get the active, alot of money that maybe I'm not seeing why I should go active.

    Your opinions...

For everything, I'd like to spend about 650, maybe 700. If that helps at all. Sub, mids, and tweets come to about $240. With HU, comes to about $540.

    Your opinions...

Haha, thanks. Anyways, for amps, what do you suggest? I think I'm going to go with the Pioneer 880 maybe? That'll fit right? But should I get a 5 way?

    Your opinions...

I don't know the model number, but its the new model of the DEH_ 4800MP. So maybe 5900i? Its about 200, or 210. Talking to someone, I think I'm going to go active. Any suggestions on the crossover?
