Looks the original Tumult is back....

That looks like a solid woofer!
  9. The 18 has more cone area, an your giving it overall more power. I would question your listening taste, but on paper the 18 wins.

    Death penalty redone and basket

Just for future reference, when you do contact them your going to need to tell information: Example its a RECONE what coils you want, ask if glue is in the kit dust cap etc. Im sure it wont be to bad though perhaps 100$ a sub? Let us know when you find out though
  13. On the vic I had to shave the opening a little bit, the plastic has a lip that prevented the unit from going in took at max about 5 minutes. And I didnt use the sleeve it was a very snug fit.
  14. I had a double din kenwood in my crown vic went it easy, didnt use the mounting sleeve, when I traded the vic in for my explorer put the same unit in the explorer problem free, but used the mounting sleeve, what exactly are you asking?

    Thinking of downgrading....

You have the same power on a single 15, as you would on 4-10s? If thats what your saying I wouldnt call that a downgrade by any means. I would imagine with pure cone area its still going to be nasty with the same power you were using. What exactly do you mean by downgrade? Your saying having the ability to add more power you have a solid electrical and your talking about adding cone area........ I dont get how your trying to downgrade?

    DC or AQ subs

I wasnt ruling out a woofer, I was merely saying (personal opinion only with a fair amount of testing) in my 12inch test box <adjustable 6in aero tube> 1.5 after displacement cannon type design sub forward port backwards. I played around with both woofers ~HDC3 Copper Coil 12 D2 and the DC XL 12 d2~ Amp used was a first gen RD 3250 and with the box tuned at 40hz the DC played louder lower (louder being higher score on the TL) running a sweep from 35hz-55hz 75% max volume clamped around 2387watts then the Aq did, but in the upper Freq 40hz an up the Aq took over in score meaning the Aq was louder at the higher Freqs. Vehicle used was 2005 Ford Explorer. I tried several tunnings being 35hz-40hz-45hz-50hz my explorer peaks between 46hz-51hz depending cone area, power, volume, mic on dash vs in the kick. Does this mean the AQ cant play low NOPE, does this mean the DC cant play higher freq nope, just means in my test box the DC liked to player the lower freq better. If the OP plans on tuning dumb low then I would lean towards a woofer with a mid FS(30-35) with a well built box an its going to peg the lows with authority. Obviously Op is going to want to do a bit more research on both drivers as far as the specs go and see which one is going to fit the bill best meaning what fits the budget best, usable space in said vehicle, goals. I think either woofer honestly would satisfy the Op in a box optimally built for either woofer. The only sure way to find out is if you test them.

    DC or AQ subs

I understand that, but in part it does the Fs. A low Fs normally means a lower F3 which in terms is a deciding factor in efficiency does it not? In my mind the FS is as follows, the point at which all the moving parts of the driver sympathize or resonate. Which means you will find it hard to produce lower frequencies than the driver’s fs. So a driver with an fs of 60 Hz will not produce 35 Hz very well. A driver with an fs of 32 Hz will produce 35 Hz better then a sub of a higher fs, so with that being said obviously a subs FS of 33hz is going to play 30hz better then a sub with an fs of 45hz right or wrong? We all know a box is going to be a huge factor weather your using sealed, ported, bandpass.

    DC or AQ subs

Considering the FS in the specs I would lean towards the FI for the lows, but having owned both the AQ an the DC I would say go with where you get the best deal from. Although its suggested to tune the AQ higher it does tend to play lower, I tuned my AQ HDC12 at 36hz for daily and it did fine, it would play down to 32hz pretty well below that not much. The DC XL tuned at 36hz played down to 28hz fairly well, but I have rarely found much music that really plays below that anyways. I thought both sounded fine, but I always lean towards spl so I really dont have an ear for much else.

    1991 Honda CRX Si

You build to win at finals bottom line, you guys mentioned sibleys crx did it do it at 30-40hz nope....enough said. Bottom line is in a crx you can pull big numbers, you just have to invest time and testing. At lower freq you can do 150s all day with 4-12s and a fair amount of power, its just not going to be comp winning which is fine, because the OP isnt after that. I said it before I would do subs up port/ports back an you will be fine.

    SA-8 for SQ?

Its possible. Normally (not always) I notice there are class a/b amps in SQ built cars rarely have I seen Class D amps in SQ competition cars. Can it be done and be solid sure. Bottom line is this the op said he need an enclosure in a limited space. The maker (sundown audio) owner Jacob said 1cube Net is to big simple so he is going to need something smaller tuned at 30hz so realistically with his (ops) limited space what are some valid ideas to help the op reach his goal. He also mentioned he will be using a 3in Aero for port keep in mind with a tuning of 30hz. Im sticking with 0.8 GROSS external port tuned at 30hz, the flange of the port inside the box will eat up some air space (not much) but you could extend the port inside the box some to eat up more air space if you desire that way you can change your boxs volume and play around more. Best of luck with your testing.

    SA-8 for SQ?

right again M5 as usual gross in my perspective means the total amount without deduction net in my perspective means the total amount with deduction, left over amount. So your gross would be WITHOUT displacement and net would be WITH displacement deduction. Which would mean at 0.8 being your gross you would subtract the 0.1 for sub displacement leaving you 0.7 net which is 0.05 more then your box NET volume suggested given you used an internal port vs an external port which is the gain of an external port, does it look as good nope, can it achieve the same outcomes sure can. Realistically though is your ear going to judge the OPs Sq output? If we are talking means of SQ why not use a cleaner power source? A class D amp is hardly of SQ standards.

For daily honestly subs up port back is plenty fine! Subs forward ports back does work rather were for numbers, but there is a new design even louder now days ryan mccue did 158 for 30 seconds 2-10s......

Why not do subs up and port back for that then?
