thats correct, but I was merely answering your question you would have to test. personally if you know what your dong and you have the electrical to back it up I say go 0.5, obviously others will disagree, but its something you personally have to figure out. 0.5+imp rise

Am I reading that right? You have a box with up firing subs, so they are firing up right into the seats?

can we see pics of what you currently have? There is no telling what kind of power your seeing with out getting a clamp and dmm on there. Because an amp is wired at 2ohm doesnt automatically mean your getting the amps rated power at 2ohm, you need to figure out your imp rise, and your power output will change per freq and per volume notch example at 34hz on volume 20 isnt going to be the same as 42hz on volume 5 its varient.

    IN DIRE NEED OF SETUP

I think a pair of Z18s and a 3500 would be damn nasty for daily! Replace the battery under the hood and 2 or 3 D3100s in the back you will be solid. With the money saved you may need to buy a new windshield though

Sounds good, I would try both 1 ohm and 0.5, I would imagine if you have the electrical to back it up and your easy on the gains and volume you knob you should be fine at 0.5 just roll the volume and test. Your going to get more power at 0.5 because of imp rise vs the 1ohm wiring. Name of the game is going to be test test test.

Not bad at all, I would imagine this thing would upset your stomach!!

That works, just play around with different amounts and you should be fine. Probably 4-4inch will do nicely.

Yes I am, I have been around a little bit, have done some competition from time to time, but spent alot of time in iraq (where I am currently) the past 4 years! Looks like this year when I get back (less then 2 months ) I will rebuild my explorer with some nice new sundown goodies!! Im leaning towards the 8-sa10s, but I have a solid 4-10 box I used at a few shows did 152s fairly easy on 3k with 3 working woofers (single chamber box per woofer) I like the looks of the Z v3, but I need to get started as soon as possible, I may get the Z v3s when they are available and play with it some! Who knows.

Are you willing to talk about that in depth here on the forum? If so can you better explain the difference if you dont mind? Is it basic like 1 is for daily 1 is for daily/light competition and 1 is for spl only or how does the 3 options work? Will these have just basic coil options? Meaning D2 an D4?

There has always been talk that slot ports are best for daily and aeros are best for competition, but honestly I tried both and slots can and have been loud, and aeros dont sound as bad as people lead on about, I think its more of build quality. Its hard to say really if your at all looking for score (casual competitions) your going to want to find out what the vehicle likes best, example in certain crx models 1 likes 4inch aeros and 1 likes 6inch aeros. I personally like 6inch aeros because they have given me the best results in both my crx and explorer. A better question is what is the suggested port area, what do you have room for? Obviously your going to want to do things proper so my view would be to try both and see which gives the best results, try 2-4inch aeros 4-4inch aeros, 1 6inch aero, 2-6inch aero. On a hunch Im going to learn towards the 2-12s with 2-6inch aeros tuned at 36-38hz

    Dual Sa-8 Box

you guys think with 4-8s his port area is going to be enough? Is that 2.2 before or after sub and port displacement? I agree it seems a big big though. What are your goals with this setup? Will it work yes, will it perform best and let the subs perform at their peak highly doubtful.

Sounds like a solid woofer, when you email me back perhaps we can talk more details etc. Just a quick question though how many spiders do these come with stock?

    1x SA-8 w/ SPL Coil : 151.6 dB Outlaw

If your going to go 2-8s I would try 1cube per woofer and 1 6inch aero per woofer fire subs forward ports back

I ran my rd 3250s at 0.5 daily and comps for 2 years straight never had a problem with them, and they still work problem free, its about the user mainly, as stated obviously you need to know what your doing that simple, if you dont have the electrical you cant expect amps to last long, your trying to have them produce more then they are taking in power was an that just creates more stress and in the end you end up with a blown amp. As for 5 8s did you calculate the final ohm load for 5 8s? 5 D2 8s would be 0.2 if wired in parallel 5 D4 8s would be 0.4 if wired in parallel plus you have to factor in imp rise, so realistically you do understand that your not going to get any where near 2k out of that amp especially daily? Your talking about 10 coils creating heat in a common chamber box. If your looking for the lows and the simple build Im going to lean towards the 2-Sa12s D2 wired at 0.5 on the Saz-2000 with doing this your going to need to set gains properly obviously get (buy or borrow) a clamp and dmm and check your resting imp, then check your final imp along with clamped power an that will give you your box rise, your total power your seeing real world obviously dividied by 2 since you would have 2 woofers sharing that power. I cant say for sure, because I dont have the subs, but Jacobs rings for cooling etc may bring your IMP rise down on the Sa12s an add cooling so I would also look into that. Just make sure you do everything right an you should be fine, sure 4-8s would be a wow factor, but I think the 2-12s is the better way for what your looking to do, you can probably get away with a higher tuning, but the subs will like to play lower reguardless, the AQ subs have been like that for yours, you can tune a box at 40hz, but the damn sub will play down at 36hz problem free and sound damn good. Lastly I encourage you to set your filters properly when doing this as well, because obviously you dont want to let your box play down in the 20hz range at full power, or you will probably end up with a seperated neck joint or plain blown sub.

Just curious why 5 8's? I think in your situation 4-8s or 2-12s would be your best bet, with 4-8s you can get Dual 4 an wire the 2000@0.5 ohm, or you can get 2-12s in Dul 2ohm and wire it at 0.5 that seems to be your best bet on options considering the space you have an actually doing the box proper without trying to cram stuff in there the 2-12s would be more cone area, but by a minimal amount and either path you choose the 4-8s or 2-12s setup could yield roughly the same results, the 4-8s would be more of a WOW factor I would imagine either or should be a pretty good daily setup.

I would like to see what you come up with on the MINI NEO MOTOR 8! 3inch SPL Coil 1000rms 8!! Strap a pair of 3500s on it!

    SA-8s and SA-10 D2 back in stock.

Jacob will you have the Sa10s dual 4 in stock with all the bells and whistles.

    Prototype Z v.3 Testing

Jacob since you said this motor will fit the NS SPL coil, have you actually tried this yet? I would be very interested to see some type of power handling rms and max/burp wise on that type of sub. If/when you have the NEO NS SPL woofers available in 3in or 4in coils I guess this motor with the NS SPL coil would be the cheaper route to really get into a solid woofer ready to handle 6k burps at will without spending $500+? I like the looks of them without a doubt just curious on final cost and availability for custom built woofers! Considering the linear excursion specs I would imagine these things can really move some air with serious force! I have a nice test box for a single 12 I would love to try one out in, the only problem I have ever had in the box is with large amounts of power the box creates some serious cone pressue and seems to break the neck joint from the spider. Coil Imp options? The basic production of this sub looks very promising by far I will await your final specs and pricing. Great Job!

    IN DIRE NEED OF SETUP

I would say for daily a pair of Z15s and a 3500 would be very solid no problem! You would save on money, electrical you mentioned should be decent for that, and you would save a bit on space and be able to get the build done very simple.
