Can I first ask why you want so low of a tuned frequency?

More than likely the SSF on that amp wont even go to 25hz. So tuning that low would just be stupid. 31~33hx in a contour is more of a good frequency to tune to. Most songs dont even have a 26hz note.

Get those subs and do what you want with them. The best learning experiance is from first hand so by all means go for it! My opnion is save your money and if your wanting something at the standards set at what your "Listening Pleasure" goals are, then save your money and buy something worth while that will blow you away. More than likely from the way you talk it seems you like to do things half ass so you may be better using them cheap subs instead of skimping out on some good quality subs and destroy them.

cerwin vega went south! No more from them since the owner turned the business over to his sons who ran it into the ground.

Completely understand that my friend. But this system is far different from any of my other ones.. So in a sense you would have needed to hear the differences between the 3 different systems in the same vehicle but the enclosures were all different.

Well to answer the price question about the DD9500 series 10 if there are no dealers in your area you can get club price for 572 plus 50 for a carbon fiber dust cap plus shipping.. Also incase you didn't know Steve the owner of DD has built a new DD 99Z thats better than any sub probably ever made he claims. Us folks on the PWK forum are supposed to get first peek at these new beasts. So as soon as I know, you'll know

There was one car I couldn't sit in with the doors open. Once the doors were closed it wasn't impressive at all. So there is truth in your post Thank you sir.

Well lets see, with windows down I can do a 154. Windows up a 143. Thats more than 10db of loss. Hey Brian.. I take it you live in Texas right? Well I got a guy with my team that goes to Heat Wave every year.. Hes with 2loudcrew his names Joe Lobadoes. Next time you seem ask him about Thumpers system and what it sounds like with windows up. Im tellin you, with windows up the subs cancel eachother out and make a bottoming out sound. Now if I had designed my box alot differently it would have been able to do some good scores on a mic with windows up and on the dash. You need to see to believe what Im talkin about.

    (Misconceptions??)

Its wierd.. I can meter 154 on the dash with windows down but the minute I roll my windows up the subs start to cancel out and lose pressure building performance.. Its cuz I built my box around the geometry of my trucks acoustics with windows down. My box can play well into the 22hz range and have flat response throughout. Obviously, before the sound can arrive at the listening point, the transfer, resonance, and grouping of the sound waves originating from system is confined and subject to the acoustics of the container, whether that's your listening room or your vehicle cabin. Most speaker CAD programs (on an off-chance that one is actually used) tend to assume that the vehicle does not exist, that the box is aligned on-axis with the listening point., and that there's an open-air gap of precisely one meter in between the two... That's just not very realistic. In exploring this a bit further, we can establish that, unless you're willing to re-construct the room or alter the vehicle cabin, the geometry of container cabin is pretty much a constant. We can also establish that there's only so far that you can move about the perimeter of your listening area, especially in a vehicle, making the enclosure a constant as well. Our key variable becomes the hearing point - a speaker in an enclosure that will effectively couple the cumulative cone mass to it's respective listening environment cabin, at the target listening point the ear. I guess some will never understand true physics

    (Misconceptions??)

Exactly my point.. Thats how Iam. I play music in the 150's but to play a tone all sealed up with mic on the dash.. It wont be very impresive. You know what Im talkin about man.. Good job.. you get brownie points haha

so that means air pressure is what makes a system loud? No.. you need to watch the video again.. It means air pressure is what causes the system to register on a termlab to get a number. He just did a test by screaming in it to show the difference between loud to the "ear" and loud on the mic. My systems built to be all out loud to the ear and with all windows rolled up I cant build pressure in my cab to save my life. All I can do is be ungodly loud and move tons of air ok. so what would a system that is just loud be like compared to a system that builds up pressure. in terms of box design, woofer size, etc Your not serious are you? yea. because it seems like there is something I'm not getting. Are you saying loud is like some 6 1/2 speakers playing and spl is subs. I know about spl, I think I'm just confused on the way you mean 'loud'. Differnce between loud to the "Ear" and loud on a mic

    SKEEMASK'S 97' Thunderbird Build

Ya.. I change my mind literaly every day. But since X from PWK is gonna be comin out to visit Im gonna keep those babies in there for a while. I had every thing just thrown together to see what they sounded like and it gave me a headache, split my rear pillar mounts to the cab, and blew my front window seal. But once I get everything done then I'll make some vids.. I ordered 4 sets of alpine type R components to do 3 in each door panel and one on the front pillar firing at your face like yours. But yeah nothing is in there as of now so I can get the rest to make it all pretty

    BTL 12"

Haha.. I go golfin with them. I tell people I bought them at Big and Tall.. Not big enough but to tall
  15. Travo-18

    BTL 12"

Well this mainly pertains to Nick or Scott.. But Im wanting a 12" woofer that would be able to withstand 5k in a daily application.. I was thinking of a 12" BTL with like 7 spiders or just waiting until the debute of the AA SMD woofer in the 12" version... Either way Im STOCKED!!! :bigclap:

Fi bl sub enclosure for single cab s10

Ya I've seen it done in many ways.. Most not as eloborate as that. Normally you'll see just a glass enclosure built right there. But ya since blow through wasn't an option than by all means that should do fine

I wish I could make a copy of this video and show it to all the noobs I run into at the little stereo guru shops that dont know squat! http://www.realmofexcursion.com/videos/Various/termlab.1.wmv If only I had a nickle every time I heard someone says my system sounds so loud its hittin blah blah blah!

Center console setups are realy not the best way to go. They dont have a proper loading environment..It's not so much a matter of arriving at sufficient mounting area to get the woofers loaded onto the box--that's easy--the challenge lies in making the enclosure, itself, work to couple the cumulative cone area to the cabin air mass and keep it there at a low enough frequency... which, given the amount of cone area that you're looking to use and the limited internal enclosure air space, might be quite difficult (if at all possible). But if thats the more capable of beeing done task then eh, why not.

Blow-throughs are the best! I say do it cuz you'll love the outcome. And later on down the road if you deicide to get rid of the truck you can just fabricate new panels to be spot welded and panel bonded into place and it will look like nothing ever happened This was with my 2 BTL 15's and 6K at half volume This was with my 2 BTL 12's and 6K watts This is what my new setup is And 4 of these
  24. Travo-18

    few questions

Oh without a doubt! I was smart enough to take another test measure and then built the box accordingly... The fs dropped a good 4hz as well
  25. Travo-18

    The new box and MT's

Well still. The front baffle should at least be doubled up.. Is it built out of 1inch MDF or 1/2inch?
