    2006 Jetta Rebuild

Last system consisted of a sundown audio 3k on 2 re Sex 10's and a sundown 125.2 on the factory door speakers. Plan is to get a sundown 50.4, alpine H701(to be run with an alpine w200) and some hertz 3 way components. Going from 10's to 12's and a forward firing box sealed off. Here is a video of the previous system Box was tuned to 30hz. Well here is the tear down and rebuild process Bye Bye Blew 1 10 last week and put a cover over the hole so I could still have some tunes for the time being.

    2006 Jetta Rebuild

Change of plans on the sealing part. Instead of doing 3 seperate pieces, going to do 1 solid piece with a sunken cut out for the subs and ports. Here is the progress so far and the back side I also started painting the part of the box where the port ends are blue to match the color of the car

    2006 Jetta Rebuild

as long as its an agm (including your 14 volt xs power) its fine to be on it side. The only thing they recommend is that they dont me upside down, aka terminals facing the earth. Its slowly but surely getting there. The space on the drivers side where the extra wood is, is where the battery is going to go. I already have the frame in place, just don't thing that its necessary to post the picture quite yet. I have to work the day shift tomorrow so no updates till Saturday.
  8. Trying to get the word out. If you are planning to come down to the Forbidden Fantasy Car show in Lake Perris here are a few things you need to know. 1.) Hotels that are car show friendly are listed on www.forbiddenfantasyshow.com. I called the 3 he has listed and found out The Best Western (951) 924-4546) will charge $74.99 + tax a night and require a $100 deposit. Holiday Inn (951) 243-0075)is $85.00 + tax a night without a deposit. Tell them you are there for the Forbidden Fantasy Car Show. 2.) The show date is March 12-13 with the dB drag part on the 13. Instead of the $20 enterance fee it will be $5 for all dB Drag competitors. They want you there between 8am and 9am. He hasn't decided if they will let you in after 9am or not. Looks like it will be a 2X show the first of the year. Last year, they let very few people in after 9, so be aware.
  9. Just got word on this Shot Callers 1377 Lillac St Bloomington, CA 92316 USA Official Db Drag and Bass Race Event. Lets go so cal. Lets get the season started.

    2006 Jetta Rebuild

using birch for the lightness of it Finally sacked up and got me a nail gun. Not the most expensive one in the world, but it gets the job done. I still cant believe its taken me this long to get one. Makes life sooo much easier. Guess I forgot to take pics of all the pieces cut. Here it is starting to take shape After this was taken I brought the box inside, set the top on it and put 3 big batteries to act as a clamp.
  13. Your alt should be fine if it is only going to be for 2-3 sec burps, thats not enough time to even drain the batteries. you should be fine electrical wise. I know the BTL is a beast, but i would be carefull at putting 5200 watts to it, just be conservative with the bass knob, and the settings on the amp, and you should be fine.

    dual alt ?

You can run multiple alternators to the same batt with out any issues. If you are gonna be running dual alts, i would do the Big 3 all in 1/0, since it seems like you are gonna be pulling a lot of juice

    custom enclosure?

What kind of sub, and vehicle is it goin to. You say orange county, and it say HB as in Huntington Beach? If so, i might be able to do it as long as you get me all the stuff that is needed for it (wood, box plans, screws, etc.) I live near the LA county fair, so your not too far from here, plus im in whittier all the time. PM if you want

    Regular Cab Ford Truck

As the title says, i have a 1986 F150 Regular cab. With this modle truck their really isn't really any room behind the bench seat to put a sub with out being on top of the steering wheel, and not cutting a hole in the back of my cab. This is about my 5Th box I have built for my truck. Ok no more talking, on to the build Head Unit: Alpine 9885 ($60 at best buy, on clearence brand new) Subwoofer: 12" shallow mount Pioneer FTW 3.25" mounting depth Amplifier: 1400W hitron bridged at 4 ohms (getting replaced with a sundown 1000d soon) And the truck that all of this is going into Been in the family since brand new, with 131,xxx miles on it, still runs and drives great

    Regular Cab Ford Truck

First thing first, the truck came with a stock 60 amp alternator, not going to cut it. So i went to the junk yard and pulled an 130 amp alt out of a 94 H.O mustang, in the process changing it from a two plug alt, to a 1 plug alt. Did the big 3 all in 4 guage, will get replaced with 0 eventually. Now since i have a better electrical, time to start the box Using one of my moms bowls, right diameter for the sub all cut out, and sub drops right in Everything put together and air tight, time to put it in the truck. Box is .8 ft^3 tuned to 31 hz with a 3" x 22.5" port

    Finally lifted the Taco

John the taco looks sweet. Buddy had a 99 with a 3" lift and put 35's on it. Even with those big a$$ tires he still averaged 18+mpg. Bigjohn, i know what you mean about the mud sliging part Fun day off roading in azusa canyon. truck is green, with about 1/2"-1" of mud on all panels.

    port design question

I believe you can't do it that way. You can figure out how big of a port you need by using this calculator http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 For # of ports you would want to put in 2, once you fill everything else out it will give you a length you need, and that is for each port.

    2002 Ford Explorer

I can take snakes, and reptiles all day, but spiders i'll have nothing to do with them. Other than the spider, i love how you are doing this build, very clean. great attention to detail. Cant wait to see the final product

    help buying wires!

I say no cap, just spend the money you would on the cap and buy a 2nd battery. Also what kind of car and how big of an alt do you have? I should of asked you that before, but i was pretty tired last night when i responded.
