I agree with JimJ. When I upgraded from factory speakers I noticed a night and day difference. THEN when I put an amplifier to them it was ANOTHER night and day difference.

Great genetics in the sense that my metabolism is very fast. =] BUT, I'm only 5'8" 165. I was at 180 when I played football, but I don't workout near as much as I used to.

The King Of All Upper Body Exercises by TheWeightWatcher of CYV

Deadlift, squats, pushups, pullups. killer combo -
I COMPLETELY agree with you on the lean meats....definitely the best choice. I'm just the opposite with protein. When I start taking it, I start to gain weight. But it's a good weight that I'm gaining. (Lean muscle mass) I guess it really depends on how much you want to cut....do you just want to cut an inch or are you going Jay Cutler on us....haha My diet last summer was zero sugars (like little debbie snacks and things like that) and i attempted to keep my fat intake less than 20g a day. some will argue with that, but i looked and felt amazing...(last summer...haha)

I would go with a Casein (sp?) protein shake at that time. A slow release protein at night. Fruit is always good too!
-
I'll swear by the StairMaster until the day I die.
-
You're right, that didn't come out as I wanted it to...lol....maybe a leaner protein? A soy based one? But really a high protein intake is going to help him gain weight. If he wants to cut down, he's going to want to cut down on the protein shakes. A LITTLE.

Form is CRITICAL for new lifters. That man in the video. His back is strong enough where he can afford to cheat a little bit on form. But for a deadlift or a squat good form goes as followed. (This is what i've learned form MANY football coaches, bodybuilders, and powerlifters, feel free to edit and add opinions.) Belts are nice, but also make you weaker because you body doesn't have to work as hard. My rule of thumb is: No belt until im at twice my body weight. (or close) Squat: Feet shoulder width apart. Toes STRAIGHT. Don't let your knees buckle or quiver. Knees NEVER to go past your toes. BIG CHEST. Lock your lower back, DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT let your lower back bend forward. Drop down to parallel or close to with the floor. Breathe in on the way down and out on the way up, be explosive. Deadlift: Pretty much the same as above. Make sure you're lower back isn't bending!!! I've seen people get SERIOUSLY hurt doing this lift. But if done correctly its one of the best. Don't worry about weight on either lifts right away, FORM FORM FORM. Those two lifts are the ones that form is most important with. As Arnold would say: A little body English isn't a bad thing.

What I used to do when I was bulking for football season was I would try to shoot for 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. It is hard to do, but if you're lifting HARD you'll need it. ex: I'm 165lbs so I would try to get 247 grams per day. Normally I wouldn't get close to that. haha. That was good for a bulking. If I was in your situation I would keep the protein intake up until the end of April. Do low reps with many sets. (3x5, 3x8, etc.) Get a good cardio routine set, but nothing too over the top. For now. When May roles around, switch it up. Keep a solid intake of protein, but look for a low fat one. At this point I would focus your entire routine around cardio. KEEP LIFTING. But make it a high intensity workout. Kind of like circuit training. (High reps and fewer sets.) As for actual cardio I would do a warm up on the treadmill, just a fast paced walk, or maybe the elliptical. After my workout I ALWAYS hit the stairmaster for 20 minutes on the highest setting. Do your abs 3-4 times a week. Abs are easy to build, but for them to show you need to get rid of that fat! That is MY suggestion. Right or wrong, it's what I did for my workout last spring/summer. It worked for me. If you do want to take a creatine supplement I would suggest using a MICRONIZED creatine. I would stay away from monohydrates, too much water retention. EDIT: I would also, in May, lower your protein intake a little from what you decide to do in April.

looks excellent! -
Exactly, he doesn't need either. That's why it's called a supplement. What exactly are you shooting for though? What are your goals?

I had this posted in the Fi forums, but I stopped getting replies so I figured I'd post out here. I bought an Fi Q12 and a Cadence TXA1000D around the new year. I got it all installed about 1.5 weeks into January. Everything was playing great for a while, sounded awesome. Well last week I was out driving around and my sub started to cut out. It would play some notes and then it would stop. A few seconds later it would start back up, play a few, and then stop. The next day I started playing it again and it sounded fine for about five minutes and it started to do the same stuff. Now, it wont hit anything. Every once in a while it will hit, out of no where, just randomly. I pulled everything out, checked my fuses, and everything looks fine. People told me to see if I heard any scratching sounds in the sub to see if it was a burnt coil, but I don't hear any. I was told to check my amp speaker terminals and check the ohm load. It checked out fine. I'm just lost here. ANY help will be much appreciated.

My amp isn't mounted to the box, but I did find a kid on campus who said I can hook my sub up to his amp to test it....so thats the plan.
-
Alright, well I'm gunna have to find someone on campus who has an amp I can try I guess....thanks guys

Can I measure my voltage with my DMM from the amp....and if so what is 'normal' voltage from it?
-
I've had my Q12 for about 2 weeks now. It's been playing very nicely and hitting hard. But last night while driving around it started to cut out. It would hit a few notes and then stop. A few seconds later it would pick back up for a while. It's a D2 woofer connected to a Cadence TXA1000D amp 1ohm. It's wired in parallel. I turned down the gains and reset the settings to zero and tried to retune it. Now it seems like it isn't getting any power to the sub...I checked all the wire connections...seem to be fine. I'm lost and kinda worried that my 2 week old sub is fried... =[ Please help...
-
Well, I finally had time to check my system out. I checked my fuses, they're fine. I did what shizzzon said and my terminals read 0.6 ohms....Can someone tell me how I can check my amp with my DMM to see if the amp is still in working order. Like what voltage it should be putting out. The amp turns on, but it won't put any sound to the sub.
-
Well, I'm gunna go out and check my fuses and my ground. I set my gain the way I was told to by a few people....What is the RIGHT way to adjust the gain?
-
I had my gain on my cadence set at about 1/2....roughly....I have the remote wire spliced and its running to two amps....my other amp is a Rockford P400.4. And that one is running fine. Also, I noticed when I got in my car last, I have my gain turned all the way down right now, that out of no where my sub thumped 1 time, and it was decently loud....And I did notice a small hum coming from the amp....i THINK....i might just be hearing things though.

I received my Q12 last week and finally had sometime this weekend to install it. It's in a 1995 Ford Thunderbird in a ported enclosure tuned to 32hz. It's running off a cadence TXA1000D. Door speakers are Infinity Kappa 682.7 (6x8 2ways...i know, i know...haha) and those are running off of a RF P400.4...Got everything hooked up sunday afternoon and all I have to say is "wow." I've owned a couple of other systems before, but this Q takes them all...hands down. It gets LOUD and still, it doesnt lose ANY quality! My roommate has to cover his ears when i crank it...(hes a girl though...haha) I've shown a couple of kids on campus who have "5000 watt" systems in their cars and they can't believe that a single 12 can pound that hard. In conclusion, as long as FI is buildin' subs, i'll be buyin' subs....great product, recommend to anyone and everyone looking to build a system. Thanks to everyone on this forum for their knowledge and support and special thanks to Nick for all the individualized help! --Ryan

I've never seen anything like that....unReal. -
Nice, I'm jealous....

Just wanted to thank everyone that gave me different inputs on what I should buy, wouldn't have been able to do it by myself...that's for sure...haha....Also a special thanks to Nick. He helped me out so much via emails on what to buy, but I still bought the wrong sub. >.<....Contacted him and within the day he told me that he got the coils switched for me! Haven't got the sub yet, but I'll let everyone know how it goes! Thanks again, Ryan
