Poor Z car

Great build log. As far as the Dcon sounding better than the Icon. Was the Icon in as good a box that was built to spec? And in a vehicle that was as well deadened as yours? I thought the Xcon>Icon>Dcon. Either way, great work on your build, and I'm excited to see what you come up with for your console.
Okay, well it's not a direct comparison on any of the drivers. So it isn't 100% fair. The Dcon is in an optimal sealed enclosure while the Icon was in an optimal ported. Icon was in the home theater, and Dcon in a vehicle. I just appreciate the overall sound of the Dcon set up. Don't get me wrong, the Icon is a PHENOMENAL driver, but at the price, you can NOT beat the Dcon.

Looks good man!! Cant wait to see how it looks installed.
I've been neglecting my truck, as it's nice enough to get my bike out. Umm..I'm not happy with the current set up, as far as space and fitment goes. I'm going to be rebuilding in a few weeks. Goal is to build a center console that incorporates my Dcon.
On a positive note, the Dcon is the best subwoofer I've ever heard.
Other subs I've listened to: Various mainstreamers, Icon, SI Mag, Dayton HF, Paradigm PW2200, Fi Q.

If the fan holes are visible after it's installed, they would look better painted black.
They won't be. It's a close fit, they are actually sucking air from under my seat

You mean a stroke?
Depends

I'm really confused. Can you explain your problem further and more clearly?

Just a couple touch up spots.

Long over due.
I've decided to put the sub in the truck with the Sony HU I have for now. I'm a little short on funds, so I'm going to wait a few more paychecks before I buy the stuff for the front stage. Keep in mind this is the FIRST time I've EVER carpeted things. Please be nice

Big update tonight or tomorrow. Got my Dcon and my carpeting almost done.

But, by all means, if you have copper, use it.

I just use some stainless steel bolts I had laying around. Over the course of 1 inch, the resistance will be negligible between copper and steel.

look good. is anything gonna go on either side of the sub?
Nah. I'm leaving that open just in case I need to put something back there. Progress has slowed to a halt. Maybe tomorrow I'll order the carpet and new back tire for my bike?

The mounting might seem confusing, as it is a bit weird. I don't have pictures of the finished part, as I'm not happy with it. When it gets covered with carpet, then I'll take pics of that.

The main thing to keep in mind is that it is STILL a speaker box. Do you plan on competing? I know there are certain rules that apply there.

Money adds up quick when you are modding your ride with high performance parts but a easy 40hp gain is replacing your engine fan with an electric one.
Err...I think this is just a BIT of a stretch..don't you?

How do you wire a sub to one ohm

Read away.

I go to a local upholstery shop for my vinyl. They let me look through all thier rolls and take samples out to the car to color match. Just a thought.
A good thought. I think I'm going to do that for my a-pillars. I'm probably going with jet black carpet for the speaker box and false floor.

Pictures look gOod Brother. The one with the polyfill looks like theres smoke coming out of the box. Where are you facing the sub? is it down firing? keep up the gOod work.
The sub will be down firing. I'll get pictures of it on the false floor today. Have to run out of town, so I'm going to stop at the fabric store and see if they have any covering.

Nice work, good to see some real bracing
Thanks Sean. It's surprisingly light, but if you knock on the side, it's absolutely solid.

Bracing looks very spiffy
Why didn't you use Titebond + sawdust to seal the inside seams ? Better imo than using only Titebond on the outside.
The pieces are glued on the contact surfaces with Titebond. The inside seams are sealed with titebond. And the outside seams are also sealed with Titebond. It's a 'Tite' fit.

I had a rough time on getting the top to align right, as I'm not a perfect woodworker yet. After some liquid nail and a lot (A FREAKING LOT) of hand sanding, it's perfect.
I went over every external seam with Titebond 3 JUST to double my chances of having it perfectly sealed.

The update you've all been waiting for!...or something..

Another long and hyper stressed day. This pace is going to run me into the ground.
Aaron, do you know the diameter of the Dcon magnet off the top of your head?
Sorry, not memorized. What do you need to know it for?
For my bracing on my box. I hope it's not larger than 6.5"

Wait for them to come out on DVD? The Crazies was terribly awful anyways.
