    Happy Birthday nem (Neil)

Happy birthday! Apparently it's your birthday all week, haha.

    Loss of output

Does it stay quieter for the remainder of your trip? How does the vehicle voltage look throughout all of this?

fi btl 18 fully loaded on saz 3000d at 1 ohm?

Just because you have clean power doesn't mean you won't blow the sub. That amp will put out 3000-3500 watts of clean power, more than enough to blow a 2000 watt RMS driver such as the BTL. Don't count on the oscope to save you. Use your ears and smarts.

Well I was gone all last week but thankfully stayed in a hotel with a workout room. They had one of those all-in-one cable machines that even had a leg press side. I had never seen one. Not quite as effective, but it was something at least. Tuesday I did biceps/back and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill (which made me quite dizzy afterwards, I kept leaning into the wall as I was walking out of the room), Wednesday I did legs and swam a bit, and Thursday I did triceps/chest and biked 3 miles or so. Yesterday I ran 3 miles. I was timing myself with my ipod, but of course it ran out of battery when I had about 200 yards to go. I hadn't ran 3 miles in almost a year, though. Trying to motivate myself to go to the gym to lift right now.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Sounds like alot of females in my unit...............I am just baffled how women will marry guys like him KNOWING that shit like you mentioned is all they are about. Maybe this fight will help get his head on straight? I know I never argue with the Wife about parties and the like. Then again not many of my friends are into drugs nor is my wife pregnant. J I think a lot of the problem is girls think they can change a guy by marrying him, then implementing changes. No, it doesn't work that way most of the time. I think guys are more objective about a girl's current personality, while girls are more like the NBA- they rate based on potential. But just like in the NBA, 75% of the time they're wrong.

You'll likely never know if your amp is running at full tilt, so it doesn't matter. Just adjust the gain to where the driver doesn't get stressed by overexcursion or overheating.

    Welcome to the IHoP

It's not so good when a girl who is just 10 weeks pregnant and has been married for less than a year gets in a fight with her husband by saying "maybe it was a mistake marrying anyone like you." My coworker told me that she did that this last weekend. Her husband wanted to go to a biker party with basically all just sex, drugs, and rock n roll in an old building in the country Saturday night. I feel bad for her, she's pretty cool and 90% of the things she tells me about him makes him seem like a complete tool. I think she was just naive, she's one of those girls that hangs onto a guy once they go out once or twice. I think she's only had 2-3 boyfriends her whole life.

enclosure for 12 inch fi bl subwoofer

No. Those dimensions are actually tailored to the sub. A prefab is built with no specific driver in mind.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Finally back. Spent all last week, M-F, in Jefferson City, MO. That place pissed me off. They have NO straight roads, and so many little subdivisions with only one street in and one street out. They had construction for 100 feet on the direct road from our hotel to the training facility, but instead of just being able to go one block over to bypass it, we had to go 3 miles north and 5 miles east on highways to get around it. So f'ing stupid. Then right when I got back on Friday, took off for my hometown for the weekend. Put on new front axles, which was an experience. More later.
  11. Where is the low pass crossover at? Did you set the gain with the multimeter? Have you tried just turning up the gain or does it bottom out if you turn it up anymore?

    CLIPPING!!

Actually you're running the amp at 1 ohm, not .7. .7 is the DCR, 1 ohm is nominal impedance. Since amps put out AC voltage, you're dealing with impedance. Resistance is a DC value.
  13. Perhaps there is something amiss in your installation of the Alpine? It should definitely be louder than your mids up front. How did you set the gain? Where is the low pass and subsonic filters at? What head unit do you have, and how are you getting the signal to the amplifier and using what outputs on the head unit to do so?

    Welcome to the IHoP

I watched that movie last weekend, it was really good. I watched "The Other Guys" last night, it wasn't so good. It had some pretty funny parts, it was just weird quite often, and plot and characters weren't well explained.
  15. You realize that a box for four 8s is going to be as large as the one for that one 12, right? Going with just two 8 inch drivers most likely won't be much louder than what you have.

    which way to go

If you like the way your LIs sound, why not just get two more.
  17. KU40

    What should i be expecting???

Going from sealed to ported will be louder (I assume your last boxes were sealed since they fit under your seats). How much and exactly how many DBs is a pointless question, don't even ask. Nobody knows.

I've always heard that much protein... I've heard that much as well, but I've also read that .6 to .9x body weight in protein is good enough also. Though I'm really not sure how much I intake. Let's see. Cereal- 5g 16 oz. milk in the cereal- 16g hard boiled egg- 6g 1/4 lb deli meat in lunch sandwich- ~22g cheese on sandwich- 5g Fruit & nut bar- 8g protein shake w. milk- 30g supper meat- ~40g miscellaneous protein in other supper ingredients- 5g That gets me to about 137g. I weigh 190, so that's a multiple of 0.72. Not bad. Could probably get a bit more.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Man, my gf is awesome. She surprised me with a new Traeger today. It's an amazing gesture, I just feel bad in a way because I don't like people spending that much money on me. And I feel extra bad because my response to seeing it wasn't great because of that stance of mine, so she probably thinks I'm not appreciative and I feel like an a-hole.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Apparently one of our servers went down at work yesterday afternoon. We couldn't get to some of our data. Well, apparently people worked on it all night and from what I heard were having trouble finding out which server was bad, so they shut them all down, and still couldn't find it. All day today we had no access to our servers, which hold every bit of data we have because we are discouraged from saving things to our hard drives "because they fail too often." Hmm, that one seems a bit ironic now, doesn't it. Anyways, so today everybody in the building was basically handcuffed. Not only could we not get to our reports, databasaes, etc., but our email was down, intranet, even internet. And of course for the last year there has been a huge push to go paperless to save money, streamline processing, etc., so everything that could be scanned has been, and now we couldn't get to it. We do still have the paper originals, of course. But also in the paperless push they put our timesheets online, and guess what, today was payday aka timesheet day. But nobody could fill them out since they're online. I just looked, and our webmail is still down, which means the servers are still down. They've been down for about 28 hours now. Thank goodness it is Friday, I couldn't sit through any more work days like this one. Oh the perils of technology.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I really like mine. But then again, it was my first big "for me" purchase so it kinda has that stigma in my mind that it will be great. I don't think I had spent more than $100 on anything for myself before, much less over a grand (besides cars, but those don't count in my mind). I have the 47" version. I got it from Nebraska Furniture Mart and paid like 1100 for it a year ago. Maybe a lot, I know, but I was there buying all new furniture for my new apartment. They had several brands there, and IMO it was nearly as good as the comparable Samsung (which was the best) so it wasn't worth spending the additional $700 on it. Haven't had any issues with reliability. About the only thing I don't like is the 120 hz. It gives everybody a bit of a blur around their bodies as they move, and it's very noticeable and quite distracting. I think it only happens while watching cable though, movies are fine. I'm not sure if that happens with all brands or not as I have not viewed any other TV with that feature. And when I first got it the picture was so real and clear that you felt like you were there, and it actually took away from the movie feeling. I've gotten used to it though. But overall, very satisfied with the purchase.

    Port Frequency?

Just FYI, it's the same for all subs. The higher you tune, the peakier the response will be. All that "optimal tuning frequency" from the manufacturer means is that the woofer will respond how they want in that enclosure. Each manufacturer may have a different opinion on how they want the sub to sound. Some manufacturers want a smooth response from 30-80 hz, so maybe they'll recommend a tune of 30-33 hz. Some manufacturers may want you to think their subs are louder than everybody elses, so they'll tell you to tune to 40 hz (at the expense of low end). There are exceptions, but very few.
  24. You can't wire a 4 ohm DVC to a bridged pair of amp channels unless the amp is stable at 2 ohms bridged, which 99% of amps are not. And no it would not be 1 ohm, it would be 2 ohms on a pair of bridged channels. You even said it yourself, "my sub is a 4 ohm DVC so if I wire it to 2 ohms," stop there. 2 ohms. You can either wire one coil to each channel or series the coils and bridge the amp, in those cases it will either be 4 ohms stereo or 8 ohms mono. It'll cut the amplifier output in half, but at least it'll run. Also, don't skimp on the amp just because it's powering interior speakers and not a sub. Those amps fail just like lower quality sub amps do. Buy as good of one as you can afford.
