    Rewiring factory wires

Why would you want to run it to the front? The factory wires go there because they are hooked up to the head unit for power.

phase and polarity are the same thing. And we already talked about this in your other thread.

    Rewiring factory wires

What does this mean? Just use wire directly from the amp to the speakers. You don't use the speaker outputs on the head unit. If your head unit has RCA outputs, use RCAs to get the signal to the amp.

Yesterday I played inside basketball, just halfcourt though. I'm not a big fan of half court, but there were other people playing on the other half, plus we only had 2 on 2, ha. Today was legs day. Hack squat leg extension calf raises seated leg curl incline leg press and calf extensions on there too Ran 1.5 miles, doing intervals the last .5 mile of about 20 yards jog/20 yards sprint. Gotta get into basketball shape and plain jogging doesn't do that, gotta do stop and start or high/low speed training.

    Port Frequency?

If you tune to 35 hz, you'll get a taller hump in frequency response above tuning and faster rolloff below tuning. If you tune to 27 hz the frequency response will be more flat. Basically, 35 hz will be louder, 27 hz will be more even.

I should be shot for animal cruelty........

My gf had her cat tattooed with the female symbol, but that's a pretty common procedure nowadays to let people know that their pet has already been spayed/neutered in case it gets lost and another person finds it and doesn't try to get them fixed again.
  8. If you got dual 1 ohm coils on the sub, you will have to wire it to 2 ohms to the amp.

    Welcome to the IHoP

It's the CV joints. Cheapest and easiest fix is to buy new front axles at $70/pc for lifetimje warranty ones, and spend an hour replacing them.... I figured it was the cv joints when I first heard it. Expanding on, how are the remanufactured ones? Worth it for $30 less or not? Figure I may as well replace wheel bearings while I'm in there as well. I think mine are not repackable, do you know if that's true? It's a '98. I used to rebuild them, so my opinion is to NOT buy remanned units. As for the bearings, they are not a traditional bearing-on-spindle deal. You have hubs which hold the bearing and mount to the spindle assembly. The bearings are sealed units and you'd have to press them out of the hubs, install new bearings, then press them back in. To alleviate all that, you simply replace the hubs. It's a bolt-on affair. But quite a price difference. 10 dollar bearings vs. 125 dollar hubs. We'll be doing this at my dad's shop so I'm sure they have the necessary presses and it shouldn't be a huge affair to press them out. I guess I'll see what he says since he'll be the one helping/teaching me about it. Thanks for the recommendation on new axles.

  12. ok. Are you using front, rear, or sub RCA outputs on the head unit? Find the crossover menu on the head unit for the output you are using and see where it is set. Reason being, if you are using a front or rear RCA output, the crossover on the head unit for those channels will be HIGH pass, thus completely attenuating the signal to the sub amp. If it is on a sub channel, it should be a lowpass crossover, but perhaps it is set too low, like 40-50 hz, thus also attenuating your signal.

I didn't even realize this was in the Fi forum, good catch Phi. I'm not going to ignore it, because it has nothing to do with Fi. I'm moving it to a different forum.

Lawrence DUDE! I'll be living down there soon!! I hadn't realized we were so close.. I'll be going to Haskell Indian Nations University, after 3 years i'll transfer over to KU (Thought you might like that ) We'll have to meet up when i get down there! I'm not sure if I'm staying on campus or getting an apartment. Lawrence is a great place and lots of cool stuff down there. Sure thing. Glad you're escaping Misery Oh Yeah, I'm pumped! How are the prices on the apartment's down there? I've heard they're fairly cheap. Eh, not what I'd consider cheap. But I'm from western kansas. My apartment is 800 sq. feet, 1 bedroom, water & trash paid, and it's $705/month. But my complex is fairly new. I could have stayed in my former apartment, a 3 bedroom townhouse, for only about 100 more per month. But it wasn't as nice as the one I'm in now. However, of course the landlords were upgrading every other unit in the complex at that time so others were nicer, and they weren't going to upgrade ours until we left. Well, I'll tell you what. You can just look for yourself. Most of the apartment complexes in the whole city (plus some duplexes) are listed on www.apartments.lawrence.com. If you tell me what kind of place you want, and maybe where, I can suggest some complexes if that's what you're looking at. Well, Somwhere close to Haskell would be great, 1 Bedroom, Washer/dryer, Maybe a carport or garage, Just kinda a college apartment, furnished if possible, Probably no more than 700/mo. Damn thats expensive 700 for an apartment were i stay for a house it like 800 for a house with like 3 beds atleast but what is bad is the jobs no jobs so people go to LA for jobs..... I don't think I've seen a furnished apartment in this whole place. But mine is probably in the top tier of pricing in the city. I just had very few options when I moved out of my old place because I only had about a month to find a place and literally this was about the last 1 bedroom place on this entire half of the city. My girlfriend is in a nearly new 2 bedroom duplex with double car garage and it's 950 a month. I'm not as familiar with the side of the city that Haskell is on, but I'll look if I remember. They just built some new complexes out that way. In fact I know of two, maybe three really big complexes that were just built in the city within the last 1.5 years because there was such a shortage of housing. If you want to have the most options for a place with a July or August lease start date, start looking and calling around in March.

I have a scrunching noise in the front end of my Explorer. Only happens when I turn. We just put on new brake pads and rotors a couple months ago so I'm wondering if it has something to do with that. I don't want to look for an Escape and spend the money, but the Explorer seems to be pushing me to it.

Hey, bananas. I just bought some of those at the store today.
  19. What headunit do you have? Does it have crossovers on the RCA outputs you are using?

Because of varying distances between the listener and the drivers, vehicle nodes and acoustics, etc, and how they relate to a frequency's wavelength and phase when the sound reached your ears. Wiring interior speakers out of phase is not at all like wiring subs in the same box out of phase in terms of performance consequences. For example, say you're 1 foot from speaker A and 3 feet from speaker B, and you play a frequency has a wavelength of 4 feet. When the sound from speaker A reaches you, the wavelength will be at its peak position (we'll say the +1 position, relative to a 0 line). But when the wave from speaker B hits you, due to the increased distance from the speaker, the wavelength is at its trough, or -1 position. That means the sound waves are 180 degrees out of phase with each other and will cancel out. If you reverse polarity of one of the speakers, say speaker B, the sound wave will reach your ears with the wavelength at the peak/+1 position, just like speaker A, thus reinforcing the sound and not cancelling it out. The time alignment feature on many head units today are there due to the distance discrepencies between the listener and each speaker in a car audio environment. You don't sit in the middle of your car (unless you drive a McLaren F1), so each speaker is offset from your ears a different distance. Time alignment retards the signal to certain speakers so that the sound waves reach your ears at the same time from each speaker. It's a different concept than reversing polarity like I mentioned above, but same end goal in mind of aligning wavelengths.

Lawrence I'm seeing a Mariscos on West 6th, a Pachamama's on Quail Creek Drive, and an Angler's Seafood House on Massachusetts that all seem to be pretty decent can't seem to find any fresh fish mongers, however, there are some in Topeka and plenty in KC Finding fresh seafood in West Texas or the Texas Panhandle, now that is a challenge. sorry, I'll stop being a smart ass...for now Mariscos is ok. Pachamama's is quite expensive, and I've never even heard of Angler's seafood house. weird.

    Re surround

I have had these a while also.. what kind of setup/ box did you have it all in.. I'm thinking of just doing these sealed and calling it a day. It was sealed. I don't remember the size, but I would guess 1.25-1.5 cubes per. It was a prefab box. Hey, I was like 17. ha.
