    Ever have a Kidney Stone???

I have multiple stones....Sponge Kidney on both sides so it's nothing new to me it's just that this stone is rather LARGE..it's un real on how something 10mm in size can be so agrivating
  3. might as well add this vid to the collection...... I won't have the labtop in the car any more during testing...LOL

the angle on the first box was just for something different...the angle on the 2nd box was because of height issues

Apparently I know nothing about T/S

this will heelp you understand the T/S parameters Fs------This parameter is the free-air resonant frequency of a speaker. Simply stated, it is the point at which the weight of the moving parts of the speaker becomes balanced with the force of the speaker suspension when in motion. If you've ever seen a piece of string start humming uncontrollably in the wind, you have seen the effect of reaching a resonant frequency. It is important to know this information so that you can prevent your enclosure from 'ringing'. With a loudspeaker, the mass of the moving parts, and the stiffness of the suspension (surround and spider) are the key elements that affect the resonant frequency. As a general rule of thumb, a lower Fs indicates a woofer that would be better for low-frequency reproduction than a woofer with a higher Fs. This is not always the case though, because other parameters affect the ultimate performance as well. Re--------This is the DC resistance of the driver measured with an ohm meter and it is often referred to as the 'DCR'. This measurement will almost always be less than the driver's nominal impedance. Consumers sometimes get concerned the Re is less than the published impedance and fear that amplifiers will be overloaded. Due to the fact that the inductance of a speaker rises with a rise in frequency, it is unlikely that the amplifier will often see the DC resistance as its load. Le--------This is the voice coil inductance measured in millihenries (mH). The industry standard is to measure inductance at 1,000 Hz. As frequencies get higher there will be a rise in impedance above Re. This is because the voice coil is acting as an inductor. Consequently, the impedance of a speaker is not a fixed resistance, but can be represented as a curve that changes as the input frequency changes. Maximum impedance (Zmax) occurs at Fs. Q Parameters---------Qms, Qes, and Qts are measurements related to the control of a transducer's suspension when it reaches the resonant frequency (Fs). The suspension must prevent any lateral motion that might allow the voice coil and pole to touch (this would destroy the loudspeaker). The suspension must also act like a shock absorber. Qms is a measurement of the control coming from the speaker's mechanical suspension system (the surround and spider). View these components like springs. Qes is a measurement of the control coming from the speaker's electrical suspension system (the voice coil and magnet). Opposing forces from the mechanical and electrical suspensions act to absorb shock. Qts is called the 'Total Q' of the driver and is derived from an equation where Qes is multiplied by Qms and the result is divided by the sum of the same. As a general guideline, Qts of 0.4 or below indicates a transducer well suited to a vented enclosure. Qts between 0.4 and 0.7 indicates suitability for a sealed enclosure. Qts of 0.7 or above indicates suitability for free-air or infinite baffle applications. However, there are exceptions! The Eminence Kilomax 18 has a Qts of 0.56. This suggests a sealed enclosure, but in reality it works extremely well in a ported enclosure. Please consider all the parameters when selecting loudspeakers. If you are in any doubt, contact your Eminence representative for technical assistance Vas/Cms--------Vas represents the volume of air that when compressed to one cubic meter exerts the same force as the compliance (Cms) of the suspension in a particular speaker. Vas is one of the trickiest parameters to measure because air pressure changes relative to humidity and temperature

I'm on the look for someone local to turn their hatchback into an SPL machine this up coming comp season and take another run at it.....have an old box design I want to resurect

    Twin 10" ICON Termlab Vid

I wasn't overly impressed with the T2's.... with 2.25cf3 per sub(12") tuned at 35hz they hit 143db..it was somewheres around 37hz ..had them in for about a month..blew 3 of them and gave the last working one to a buddy...he blew it ..they did move alot of air and they hit really hard but I never did get the results I wanted from them on the really low stuff so they were abandoned I'm only 1db off with my Icon 10's in a 2.25cf3 31hz box at 25hz

    Twin 10" ICON Termlab Vid

I would go with the 3 10" Icons over the 2 12" Fi's the low end of these 10" Icons is even stronger than my RF 12" T2's....LOL this set up is as far away from SPL as you can get....I can gain another 6db just by changing the box but that's not my goal my friends call me REMAX because all my neighbours want to move.......

    Twin 10" ICON Termlab Vid

you should see the store windows downtown when I drive thru....insane for some little 10" I'll be adding two more subs over the next couple of weeks then I'll be able to use up some of that extra headroom that amp looking spare tire has probably add another 5-6 db to that score

I knocked all the tools off the shelves in the garage while filming this video my router bit set was spread all over the place..the little wood box broke when it hit the floor

I built an enclosure simular to this one back in 2007..it took home 4th in the worlds in superstreet 1-2 no wall...with a cheep pair of $100 woofers...LOL lintk to the results http://www.bassworx.com/Bassworx%20News%20-%20November.pdf

    Logo Design Contest

I have seen that one...the logo I have is a verticle fist squashing some letters didn't like the horizontal one anyways
  15. I have great confidence in Mark and Aarons final results...their products have proven themselves in my eyes... the only problem I see is people like myself who like to feed 2x the RMS knowing it's over kill to begin with
  16. I think the excursion will be fine with the D CON......

    MDF or just plywood?

plywood does work but if you end up with a big void (happens often with plywood) you will end up with an added bonus of a buzzing/vibarating panel

    A Little Project

just an Idea on the punishment the ICONS can take compared to some other subs I have recently used I shreaded 5 JBL W10gti subs in 7 months... blew 4 RF T212D4 subs in 3 weeks and one set of ICONS has lasted me over 5 months not only are they reliable they are very tight and detailed sounding...I have a couple systems driving around town with ICONS now...they have a distinct rolling thunder sound to them when they are coming and going

    A Little Project

I broke my Icons......took 5 months of serious punishment but I was finally able to kill them....but it took well over 3200w rms of clean power to do it.... anyways...time for a rebuild I was in a hurry to get the bass going..I'll take some better recone pics with the next one and ya they are seriously over powered...(understatement...LOL)

voice coils were fine..I was un able to smoke them even with full power the only damage I could do was launch the cones past the limits of the spiders basically if you blow a ICON with out launching it out of the basket with 2X the rated RMS you have done something wrong...very tough little subs

    A Little Project

I really need to add that 3rd sub...the two are putting out as much as they are capable of that's it...there's no more go I think the three woofer box is gonna kick good but I see some X-CONS coming soon... considering the quality of power I am running maybee a pair of 15"

    A Little Project

you have more amp than icon sir! I have one more recone to do and I'll be adding another sub.....TRIPPLETS!!!! :bigclap: when I get some me time (soon I hope) I will build the enclosure and amp rack

    A Little Project

I was a little hesitant about this stuff at first but it works really well.. the recone looks really good and I'v been pounding the hell out of it all day the sub on the left is the recone..the sub on the right is the SSA built one my bead on the dustcap isn't quite as shinny as the SSA one a slight visible difference of glue color http://www.prosoundservice.com/m9_view_ite...D-RECONEGLUE8OZ
