first impression of the Icons :)
Thumpper replied to manbeer's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
I really like the Icons also.....I had them sitting on the shelf for about 3 months thinking my W10gti subs were all that and a bag of chips...when I finally got the Icons installed I was blown away and wondered why I didn't switch sooner by next summer I will have everyone here hooked on SSA -
I hear you there.....I get raped when I order from the US
-
based from my experience with the Icons they can take well over their rated rms with a CLEAN signal just be carefull that you do not over power it to hard and hit the limitations of the suspension (as with any sub)

Has anyone had a single icon metered?
Thumpper replied to vellocet's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
very average for a single 15"..we have a single 15" DD here that hits 148db in a Dodge Neon and I have a single 12" Alpine Type R that does 143.6db at 34hz but it's not at all impressive compared to a pair of 10" hitting 139-140 in the 20hz range if set up right a single 15" could get louder than 139db at 20hz -

I like this Video better..... doors and windows sealed engine off and meter in the exact same spot with an enclosure tuned at 31hz the next numbers will be higher...I am now running about 2x the power and adding another 10" -

reminds me of the Bass Tubes I made for my Van

ported box tuning for icon 12's
Thumpper replied to ChiTownTBird312's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
for a daily driver I find that the 12" sound really good tuned in the 32-33hz range.... the output is really good..low end extension is very decent and they still pick up the KICK of the higher drum frequencies with the tuning down in the 30hz range they like a very low X-Over setting and the upper kick drums are not as punchy I would also stay with in the 1.80 to 2.0cf3 plus displacements -
Tundrunner's Fist Logo is the best IMO.......I had some decals made up and they look really good contact me direct and we can discuss your enclosure options thanx everyone for throwing in your Idea's

anyways...she is the first to turn the SSA Dustcaps into a bikini top :bigclap:

LMAO..... I was there to witness the pic taking....LOL now I'm gonna have to pull my brain and wash away all the dirty pictures that she put there
-
this enclosure has a down firing port..... over hangs the rear seat in a 2008 Dodge Ram Quad and unloads down towards the floor

The "X"con 12" prototype has arrived
Thumpper replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
I'm not a fan of the price vs performance vs reliability of JL W7 subs as far as the SSA subs go.......un real for the $$$ and very reliable the Icons are available in Canada along with new products when released -

I can't wait till the Xcons are available........ I got the Crown A3000gti amp today......it has enough juice to launch the Icon cones right out of the basket if you want it to..... this thing isn't an amp...it's a mini sized reactor...just sick -
here is a short vid..the Icon is brand new out of the box...stiff as a board but it still moves some good air.......
-
Tundrunner I still like this one the best...it is clean and simple...gets to the point gonna try it on a decal and see how it looks......
-
it's a HUGE difference in price.....a US customer saves big time sux if you are Canadian buying a US product though I just Got RAPED with my Icon order....you would puke if you seen the price it costed me to get a single 12" shipped to me
-
be carefull...more is not always better.. I can make a pair of 10" get louder than a single 18" in a bad install.... there is NO way an 18" will properly fit in that car with out loosing the rear seat area, walling or a blow thru if done right you should be able to hit the high 140's with a pair of 12"
-
thanks, i have never competed before, really want to be a champ If I was you I would go purchase a Termlab....try different boxes and tunings.. in car testing with the TL is your best route to the winners circle
