  1. hey guys, Just put in my request at work for my rockford fosgate accomodation. Im picking up 2 t40001bds. I have a 2003 chevy s10 ext cab, bagged and bodydropped. I already have 4 kinetik 2400s, over 130ft of 1/0 with 6 runs from the front to the back, and a new alt coming soon (currently have a 160a, which is obviously not enough) I cant decide what subs i wanna run! i have roughly 8 cubes to play with, so i was thinking a pair of 15s. maybe btls, or level 5 dcs, or maybe t3 tsns. i dont know! its gonna be for a daily, and i want this thing loud as hell. I used to have 2 btl 18s in it in a huge box that went to the top of the window, and i hated driving it like that. so far the highest number iv hit on the meter was a 147.0 and i want 150s!!! every day when i sit and think about it i keep changing my mind. first i was thinking 4 12s, then realized i probably dont have the space, then maybe doing 3 12s, then today at work we were talking about a pair of 15s. what do you guys think?
  2. originally i was gonna run 2 sundown saz3000ds and 4 nightshades, but im running the fosgate amps because i can get a hella good deal on them. i dont know if those nightshade 12s could hang with over 8kw on tap... btls will tho
  3. 4 12s is still a possibility, i want to go with what ever is most likely gonna be louder. 10s, 12s, 15s, 18s im open to anything. for the amount of space i have , 2 big ass 15s seems like the best route considering after displacements, but i want others input!
  4. hey guys thanx for the responses biggest issue im having is fitting these amps. after measurments, the only logical place they will fit is on the top of the box on amp amp rack id have to fab out of 1x1. id have to fire the woofers forward and find the best place to fire the port. i have roughly 10 cubes to play with... from the rear wall to the top of the seats i have 15.5, 52 inches wide, and 23 inches from the rear cab wall to the bottom of the seat, and 22 inches tall. it will need to be a large wedge. i want this thing to HAMMER 150.0dbs. i was so mad that my old setup didnt and since then iv been trying to figure this out. what do you guys think? i was gonna strap the amps to the front of the box but there so god damn thick i would lose alot of volume doing it that way to fit. but then again from what iv heard, the best way todo this would be woofers up, port up, and maybe its worth losing a little bit of volume to have the design work like this?
  5. thats sweet i dont have room in the bed for the amps, i already have a 21 gallon fuel cell, the 4 2400s, 2 5 gallon air tanks and all my valves. also im in the process of a dump bed. i was thinking about doing both 15s up and port up, but then i dont have room for amps. now im wondering if i could fire the woofers forward, port fired into the 3rd door, and mount the amps on top of the box...
  6. it was just a bad build in general. 2 saz-1500ds underpowering them, to much port, and bad placement of the port. also electrical was lacking this time around im trying to do it right. any ideas to help me out man?
  7. alright, i disconnected the speaker wires at the terminals on the box and did each sub individually. they both read 3.5. is this normal?
  8. hey guys I just posted my fi btl 18s for sale and img ettin ready to do a new setup the goal is to do 150+ on music in my daily I will be running 4 sundown saz1500ds, i already have two of them, im just trying to decide which subs to run. i want to do either 2 btl 12s, or 4 1500 watt 12s, i just dont know which ones to run. any ideas? what will be louder do you think? also its going in an 03 s10 ext cab, i had both 18s but it wasnt worth giving up allt he space, o only hit a 147 with 2 of them in a 16 cube box...

    Question about my 1500ds

hey i got 2 sundown 1500ds (iv had a few threads on here) and i was wondering if i could daisy chain the RCA's through the br out and br in without having the amps strapped. otherwise im gonna need some Y adapters...

alright. and for the y splitter, how does this 180 degrees out of phase work?

is there a thread? could you link me or tell me more about it?
  16. hey guys im running to sundown saz1500ds strapped at 2 ohms, and 2 btl 18s dual 2s in my s10. i recently reconed. when i slam on them for a few minutes, one woofer gets hot real quick, the other gets warm. they both slap just as hard, but i cant figure out why the one woofer is getting hotter. i checked the tinsels where i soldered it looks good, same as the other one. all the connections are good as well, im using all 8awg wire. i set the gains using a multimeter and there gettin the right voltage the calculator gave me (3000w at 2 ohms - 77.5v) . i also swiched the woofers so the one getting hot was on the other side, and its still only that woofer getting obnormally warm! can someone tell me what im doing wrong? did i f up the recone somehow??

one woofer gets hot, one dosnt...

you're the third person i've read saying the same thing.. now im confused on how i should set my Gains now.. (sorry for thread hijacking) because i set my amps previously using multimeter. how would i use the oscope? yes i would like details on this as well. how much are they? where can you buy them? and also i noticed that latley its been taking a little longer for the sub to get hot.... i dont know wtf is going on with it!!!

yeah im positive man. i have it wired just like my diagram. i think it has got to be something with the tinsel leads. they look fine, but maybe theres chitty contact... i dont know im stumped!

one woofer gets hot, one dosnt...

its in a single chamber box tho, wouldnt that be bad? also i tried switching the sub from side to the other, and the same woofer is still getting hot... so i dont think its a wiring issue... but when i have some time i could try wiring them individually. it will take a while, il have to pull my batterys out, the woofers out and pick up some more 8awg to run cause the lengths are perfect to the way the amps are mounted as is. is there anything else i can try without unstrapping?

they should be.i reconed last month and i told scott at fi exactly what i needed. how can i check the coils? Your DMM should be sufficient. Simply read the resistance (impedance). Make sure the woofer is not hooked to the amp and is not moving while measuring. Each coil should read very close to one another. After not thinking about that possibility... i wonder if one sub's recone is D1 and the other D2... how do i use my dmm to figure it out? iv never done it before, the only thing iv done with a dmm is check voltage on my batterys and such... wat setting do i put it on?

i chcked the tinsel, all the soldering points are good. it only gets hot goin full volume, but its only 1 sub that gets hot! how would i check the coils? could it be that when i reconed the woofer didnt sit strate? when i push the sub down it feels just like the other one. when i reduce the gain it still gets warmer then the other sub, but not as bad... i need to get an oscope i guess... i just really need to fix this problem

hey jacob, i have another thread, i was wondering if you could stop in and check it out One woofer gets hotter then the other, 2 sundown saz1500ds strapped , im having some problems. just for my reference, could you post a diagram on how i should have 2 dual 2 ohm woofers wired to 2 1500ds strapped? im pretty sure i have it right, i just want to double check. heres a crappy diagram i made in paint, this is how there wired. is this correct??
