    new kid on the block

Welcome to SSA but two threads about power system requirements aren't needed. One will do just give it time.
  2. Big dilemma, trunk car im working with. I have 7.445 Cu Ft internal area for use if i fire up but the box will be removabable so i can grab my spare tire if i need to. Will up firing in a trunk lose me alot of spl or clarity? Which direction should i fire the port if im making this setup. Also for two RE SX 15's how much port area should be used? The port area is a very limiting factor as its robbing the little amount of area i have. The other way i can do is rear firing but i must make a two piece box to fit it in the trunk. The subs would only be 2 inches from the rear lid of the trunk. I gain .2 cu ft from switching but the amount of work would be substantial and i would lose my battery area that i could have using the up firing box. Two minutes and ile post up some 3d renders to show you what i mean. See my main limit is how high the trunk lip comes up limiting either length or height for install unless done in multiple pieces or made short. The up firing is 35x32x15. double or triple baffle is planned too with tons of bracing.

K, thanks for that info. If i port back i gotta keep a gap. If i port forward into cabin its at the perfect height to fire right through the dropped seats. am i looking at it being that much quiter for daily from firing up?

2002 L200, my daily driver POS... lol 1 RE SX 15 at 1500 RMS off a ov5500D(temporary till my kx2500 gets repaired) This is a temporary setup as i have another one of these subs and a much larger amp to install, just had to have some daily bass until then. The voltage doesnt dip below 12.8 for even really hard and long notes, tends to float around 14V constant when warmed up. kYkKVNeznTk

From Ported SPL Setup to SQ Setup

XXX is a wiked SQ driver is it not? Just make a big sealed box and toss it more power. Keep some of the output that way but with wicked clean bass. Money saved on drivers can be spent on the amp.

    New System.

A good undercoating will get rid of a TON of road noise. I used to get stuck doing them alot for my work so thats the only reason i know. Does sweet frig all for rust but the coatings like an extra thick layer of good sound deadener under the car.

Love the use of quarter round. Nice boxes, your build quality is always top notch.

mini cooper wall thread, version 2

You could always use filler and paint it with either textured black to look like vinyl, or flat black to keep with the suade theme. Flat black always looks killer.

For the trim panel i would either match up material and color or go with a big contrast and make a 2 tone scheme, like a bright red or white vinyl. Thats just me tho.

All right People, You got 5 days! Choose my setup

3 RE SX 10's sounds hawt... Sexy loud subs and i love the sound of mine for daily! If you could get away with the smaller size for the mach 5's ide use them instead as they are teh hawt sex. To be honest 2-12 inch SX's would work PERFECTLY with one 2000D. Dual 2 ohm coils, 2 subs 1000 RMS a peice at .5 ohm. 2.0Cubes a peice ported a little more efficient with a bit bigger box too along with being amazingly loud as it is. Just my opinion tho.

    New BTL's.....Exclusive pics tonite :D

This whole fight over customer service is a bit obsurd, i do agree with thumper that customer service should be prompt. If it takes more then 2-3 days to answer inquiries then more staff should be hired but that costs money and increases product cost so pick the lesser of the two evils for your own tastes. And on the fact of people buying based on looks of beefyness, happens alot with car audio for general consumer level. Alot of companies throw more metal or plastic around the motor structures to try and make them look more agressive but for me its more about performance. Hell ive got boston 15's lying around with the dinkiest looking magnets ever but they sound absolutely amazing and output is quite good compared to alot of subs i heard.

    new setup

If your looking cheap power they have refurb Lanzar optidrive 2000D's on ebay for 300 bucks, thats a GREAT amp in my opinion on a budget. KnuKoncepts for some 0 Guage wouldnt be a bad idea either. Make sure to do the big 3 as well.

Looks like it saves some displacement from the box and it is something new to look at so its sorta growing on me.

As much as i didnt like it at first, provided your finish work is good i think this will look pretty neat. GJ so far, you plan on glassing the inside when near completion?
  22. You mean hydro locking? Plain and simple, unless their is years of engineering behind the companies belt the products going to be chit. Theirs a reason cars these days are making more power and less emissions.... Good engineers with lots of experience under manufacturers belts.
  23. How would it reduce the air? Anything displacing volume in the intake tube technically can reduce flow. After all its an ill designed piece of sheet metal made to get your money.
  24. Ive done everything from intake, to engine swaps, to supercharging the engines ive BUILT for my 5.0... Intakes provided their not some EBAY kit are a wonderful thing and can add an awesome note to your engine. You will love the sound of your lincoln with a nice cold air kit such as a typhoon. The K&N itself isn't bad but the whole design of a factory intake ESPECIALLY on a big ole grandpa beater like the Lincoln is to keep her quite not produce power but does try to keep the fuel mileage decent while doing it. Heres the real kicker thats killing performance on those engines john, 4 catalytic converters and the non PI(performance improved) intake. Those engines benefit from a nice exhaust in a nice way. If your not so concerned about emissions standards i would say get a nice dual exhaust. Here in Ontario me getting my red seal means 3 years of school, plus getting at least 70 percent on the final CfQ test.
  25. Cold airs and K&N's increase fuel mileage provided that driving habits haven't changed and installed with all factory sensors. Just like lower octane fuel increases fuel economy and horsepower provided their isnt a computer compensating for detonation.
