The change was because you had more current, allowing your amps to run better. Had you added another run of CCA, it would have done the same thing or better. Nobody is saying OFC of the same size isn't better it is, where saying that 2 runs of equal cross section of CCA will provide the same or actually slitely more current. And if your on a budget and ain't running a 20k watt show car it only makes sense to get the same results for cheaper. Only real problem with CCA is it degrades and will not carry current like ofc, but I go through cars so fast (1-3 years) it's not a problem for me. Now in my dodge I do have all JL true 1/0 ofc but in my mustang I got welding cable on my alts and battery with 2 runs of XS power CCA ran to the back battery, and some left over stinger OFC ran from my back battery's to the amp. And it saved me a lot of money and it works just fine no voltage problems whatever.

Why would I have ran another 4 to feed a 4 ga insert?.. the job gets done in 1 run and you don't leave room for doubt and  gain durability. cheap becomes expensive. I still have that copper tinned streetwire 4ga from 10 years ago. Works perfectly fine.

Oh, and one wire (OFC) does not provide any difference in sound quality, provided both wires are conducting the same amount. CCA  of equal size will have a conductivity of about 60-65% of the same gauge OFC, so 2 runs of CCA of the same gauge will provide better conductivity then a single run of OFC, of the same gauge. Don't believe me, just ask d!ck head, I'm sure he will concur with me, and if not he's just lying to sell you something, or bending what I'm saying to make it sound like I'm wrong. It's Easier to fool people, then to convince them they have been fooled.

Well from past experience I've ran 4ga cca wire to a Rockford 1500 bdcp and did ok as expected. All ran with American bass kit.. i then saved some cash and bought street wires ofc 4 ga kit. Let me say the change was noticeable going from cca to ofc.. front stage also did get more clarity going from cca to ofc.. I went thru the same thing on 1/0.

Then again it's your money, spend it however you want to lol

I don't remember ever seeing JL Audio drivers being used as outlaw SPL drivers. Mainly Sound Quality. The ones I actually got to hear really sounded good.

I've competed against a few JL audio equipped vehicles over the years.

Yeah at least from my research most indicate jl audio is more about SQ. That set up I heard wasn't pushing a lot of dbs , it was moving air tho.

  4. I've only heard w7 once in a wall of 6 12s, with rap music , so I didn't get to hear the sound they actually reproduce. that being said I couldn't risk spending 1k for a sub and end up dissapointed.. Then I remember watching a YouTube video where the mtx 9500 outdid the w7 plugged into a wall outlet, I was amazed lmao... you went thru the same sundown sub 3 times?

I was not recommending you buy monitors. ;)  It was more to be ridiculous.

Is the only source the TV?  How big can the boxes for the speakers be and where are you going to put them?  Thinking 2.1, 3.1, 2, 3?  I realized you asked for a pair, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Willing to build or only buy?

Gotcha I thought you were serious , i live in a bungalow style home so living room isn't huge. I think a 3.1 would be my ideal set up , but I could settle with a 3/2 meanwhile.. built for sure lol I know building them will open up more options. Although I'll buy if it's good enough

Box Sizes and location its a tough question right now and I'd need more time to plan up. Yes source will be tv / Xbox.

They are just the budget buy for those who need fuck you loud and sounds good.

Understood.. but I did state that I was going to use a soundbar on low to medium volumes, and use it to watch nothing but movies on it.

So lets say I buy a Yamaha receiver 5.1.. what pair of speakers and sub could I use? To beat that 700$ sound bar you talked about?

Do you think it your sound bar could hold its own vs self powered studio speakers?  If you have 100-125 to spend on each?  Or if you were going to get a receiver anyway, what could unpowered bookshelfs at $100 get you?

I guess I dont honestly know but i would bet an unknown pair of $200 bookshelfs could beat a $200 soundbar.

I mean it must be safe to say you must count receiver in the deal because that's your source and they're not cheap right?

This is about the best compromise between a sound bar and bookshelf speakers that I have found.

You have two separate left and right channels that you can adjust and move to where you think sounds best. It has a wireless woofer that can be placed anywhere and puts out decent bass. It looks nice and takes up hardly any room.

Unfortunately it looks discontinued, not sure if Onkyo is coming out with an updated model.

yeah it looks discontinued , I went to the local Best Buy but end up not choosing anything . Some models weren't powered on so I'm hold off till I go to a different Best Buy

  9. I have both xcon and zcon. Both subs are amazing and incredible. In terms of loudness and output , zcons take the cake. xcon doesn't fall too short behind in that segment. To my ears the xcon has more control and plays very smooth and accurate thruout the frequency band. They   could get very loud if you want them to. Def one of my favorite subs.. Zcon on other hand does almost the same only it Is much more brutal when volume is up, and bass is "thicker" when playing low.

both subs can't be pinned against eachother, both do amazing depending on your goals.

I was concerned that the magnet might hit the bottom of the enclosure. This was a difficult dimension to guessetimate! I was thinking about using 4" coil woofers, I am glad that I didn't because they would not have fit.

I had to alter my port. I was going to use a port that was 20x6", now I am using 22x5.5", it fits better. I am also using 1/2" MDF for the port, not 3/4" plywood like the rest of the enclosure.

I am almost ready for fiberglass and paint. I have to finish the port and modify the center brace.

This inspired me , good work man hope it exceeds expectations

  11. well for one I like the idea of it not taking nearly any space (don't have a lot) and 2nd I'm only going to watch movies on it on low to mid volume.. plus I have 2 boys who grab anything in their path.. I already know it won't be as good but just thought someone would have an idea of a decent sound bar

Yes I did ask about the synergy, and thanks for the input, I was just explaining to dick head that NVX is a rebadged turd like so many more and not the next big thing. And it's most definitely not a sonic house brand, it's being sold every where even flee markets lol.

Have you tried nvx yourself? Brands being more budget friendly doesnt necessarily mean they're total turds. If your looking for the cheapest copy of a bunch then go for it man. Like we all know internals/build quality could change. It's a gamble out here lol

I would say just choose a vendor wisely.

Let me put a little perspective on this subject. Basically there are two ways audio products make it to the market. One is the higher end brands do R and D and build their own products or contract a build house to build their design. The other is a "company" based in a storage unit some where, will order any number of pre-built units, ranging from trash, to descent, and have their astetics added to them and market them as the next big thing. There are so so many rebranders it's hard to keep up with them all. Some are.                                       NVX, Lanza, pile, PPI, Soundstream, legacy, boss, power aquastic, US amps, stinger, Hifonics, MBquart, crunch, autotech, power bass, viper, kole, pyramid, precision power, visonic, dual. And a couple of these company's will have upper level units built to spec but for the most part it's dog turds with a new name and look. Then you have the other company's who actually build, or have there designs built to spec. Some of these are                       (the Harmon group) JBL, Infinity, Harmon Kardon. Sundown, JL, Rockford fosgate, Phoenix gold, Macintosh, orion, air research, audison, hertz, DD, FI, Incriminator, nacamichia, Q logic, kicker, DC, and many more. And some of these may even have lower end rebranding themselves.                           Then you have around 200 Chinese, Korean, US, Tawain, Japanese, German, and Brazilian build houses, that either rebadge or build to spec. So forgive me if I can't remember every build house, every sub, and every board, but I know a rebadge when I see it and NVX is a little of both. The cheaper amps are rebadged PPI and a few more rebadged brands, and there higher end is rebadged Korean built.

What happen man? You started with a question over who makes what and now you have all these fun facts lol

i have a synergy amp WFO 35.1 to be exact. I have nothing to complain about, it does a well job for daily listening and it's been reliable since spring 16'. Its worth the money > In my opinion <.. In comparison to the 2.5k shok industries ii amp I had before, shok did sound bit cleaner. Probably due to the fact that it needed less juice??.. anyway I noticed some of those amps price is higher due to it being able to handle more volts. Then again I'm no expert lol...
