    battery terminals

I just want to get this straight, the 1/0 run from my amp to battery, i would hook into the 1/0 slot in something like THIS, and then connect that to the actual battery terminal.. right? Also, why does it say its a Pos/Neg battery clamp? (Doesnt it matter which side of the battery you hook it to?) sorry for the pure newbness and Thanks to everyone that replies haha

    battery terminals

Ok i looked at those.. and i'm likin the concept (simple) and price ($20 less) hahah. Where exactly would the ring terminal from my 1/0 power wire go on it? Is it on one side of the screw that clamps the marine terminal around the battery terminal? Again, i dont see what happens to the clamp thats on there for all the factory wires. Does the marine terminal clamp around the factory one? Edit: not sure if i'm being too clear, i dont really know how to say it right, but does anyone know what im talking about?

    battery terminals

alright thanks, and yeah i know of the fuse and everything, it was just hooking the wire to the actual battery. Say i hook the clamp to the positive end of my battery. What do i do with the factory clamp and wires that are already there? how do they hook on along with the clamp for my power wire?

    UPS confirmation

I was reading the sticky "how long will it take to get my sub", and it was saying something about an e-mail i should have recieved from UPS. I ordered my Bl on sunday, so should i have recieved something? I did get an email from Fi giving me my invoice number in a confirmation email though.??
  9. QuestionMan

    UPS confirmation

  10. QuestionMan

    Fi Bl 18 setup

First off, i know i already posted this in general car audio, but i just wanted to get as many opinions as possible, and i always seem to more replies in here than anywhere hahah. Sub: Fi BL 18 with flatwind and p chamfer Amp: Hifonics bxi2006d (again, its not sundown or anything, but it should get the job done for now and even if it is overrated, i think 1800 should push a bl just fine. Wiring: Knuconcepts.. look Not included in the kit are RCAs and the speaker wire. Also should i get 10 or 12 gauage, and what do i need to fit it into the terminal on the sub? Enclosure: 6^3ft after all displacement and port, and tuned to 34.4xxx hz. I guess what i'm looking for is the OK from you guys. What do you think? I think im ready but im just making sure.. please comment on the question about 10 or 12 gauge speaker wire and how to fit it into the terminal on the sub. Thanks.

Which setup should i go with?

If you want to see what a pair of Qs can do, go to youtube and find the user SPLexplorer, he's got a lot of vids from different setups. He's got 1 Q in some vids, then a pair of Q 18s in another, and i think he recently got 2 bls. Btw, is anyone on here splexplorer? lol

    UPS confirmation

Thanks, i really wasn't trying to come off as impatient or anything, i just thought something went wrong, as i got the impression from the sticky that i was supposed to recieve one right away.

Smallest box for Fi bl 18

What's the smallest you think i could go with a BL 18. I'd probably wire down to 2 ohms and get about 1100 out of my amp if i went sealed. I've got some extra wood from the real box, and i thought that i could make a box to take up only one seat for when i want to take an extra person, but still have some sound. I don't see a ported working because i couldnt make the port big enough i dont think, maybe i'm wrong. Anybody ever sealed a BL 18? I doubt too many have, but what would it sound like? (also, when i say small, max dimensions that id like to use are: 23H*17-18D*22W, which is 4.4 cu ft after wood displacement.) PS: regular box is 6 cu ft tuned to 34 hz, so please dont give me crap about how i should just buy a smaller sub or something, this is just a little side thing for whenever i want to use it.

Smallest box for Fi bl 18

Lol doubt it'd be worth it to you after shipping. And i have a feeling you use bigger boxes than 5 cu ft. correct? haha
  16. QuestionMan

Smallest box for Fi bl 18

I knew it probably wouldn't sound as good, i'm just kinda looking for somethin to do with this wood and thought a spare box would be kinda nice. (This box building is kind of entertaining after awhile, i'm not gonna lie lol). Oh well i'm sure i'll find somethin for the wood Edit: Just saw ///M5s post, i do have room for an 18, my box fits perfect in two of the backseats of my dodge 1500, and i have a feeling i'm going to love every minute of it once i get the sub/amp/wiring within the next few weeks lol.

    quick Ground question

Thanks crey-c for the ring crimp suggestion, i wasn't feeling to confident about soldering to tell you the truth haha. Edit: just realized, why would i crimp the wire just to go straight from the amp to the ground a foot away?
  18. QuestionMan

    quick Ground question

Is it safe to put a ground under the carpet, or do i have to cut a hole around the ground? Also, i watched an instructional video on grounding a long time ago, and i remember the guy putting 3 or 4 screws in the ring terminal to keep it down. Is that alright, or do i have to bolt? I'm putting the ground (1/0) where my jack used to be under the backseat of my dodge ram. I know its safe to drill there because there are bolts already there for a bracket to hold the jack.

    Spherical sub enclosure

Knuconceptz 'Knucar' This guy might have an ssa membership, idk, but has anyone seen this? Everyone says 45 degree angles help airflow, so what would a perfectly round one do? It'd be near impossible to tune if you wanted to port, but if you could, would it actually work? Trust me, i'm not thinking of doing this because i can't make a sphere out of play-dough, just curiousity here.

    Propolusion Choice of the future

I definately don't think Corn/alcohol is the way to go. To me i see a big problem of a large demand and not enough supply, using more and more of our food sources for transportation. It kind of seems far-out, but i think it could eventually lead to world hunger (not that it isn't already here in some places). Diesel engines using veggie oil ftw. Edit: My bad, just saw the post above me saying just about the same thing in the last paragraph.
  21. QuestionMan

    quick Ground question

To heat shrink the ground wire, do i just put a piece of shrink tube half on my ground wire and half on the ring terminal entrance, and heat it? should i solder?

    18 Fi Bl setup

I feel like i've started too many posts lately with one too many some-what stupid questions, so i thought i'd just add to a post with some stupid questions already there lol. Is it safe to put a ground under the carpet, or do i have to cut a hole around the ground? Also, i watched an instructional video on grounding a long time ago, and i remember the guy putting 3 or 4 screws in the ring terminal to keep it down. Is that alright, or do i have to bolt? 25. Not trying to thread jack or anything, but could some explain the classes/ scoring in these things? I've never been to one (it'd be awesome if anyone knows of one around the midwest soon), and i'd like to know how it works, because i'm 150% sure a score of 63.5 is not a decibel score lol.
