    HDC3 vs. HDC4

I am in process of rebuilding my S10 for MECA's Street 2 SPL class. I am just torn between the HDC3 or 4 15. I will be running 2 2200's strapped for power. I can usual pull about 320 amps of current in the class so I think 2 2200's strapped at 2 ohms nominal would be an optimum choice. So on that note, opinions of which sub to use. I have had alot of experience with the HDC3's and found them to handle large amounts of power. I just know for rated power, I will be going way past peak power handling on the HDC3, but I do not want to get an HDC4 and not be able to move it with just 4 k in power. MECA Freezefest 2011 SPL / "SQL" Event - 2/13/2011

Please forgive me because I do not know much about Meca comps, but doesn't this seem like a pretty low score for such a potent setup? I guess I just thought 2 warden 15's and 2 40.1's would have a better showing. Amateur street 3 check the rule book. That will probably tell you some of the reason why. He has to have some pretty small fusing to run those two amps and subs to combine his score low enough to be in amature street. Also only two layers of deadner. Bunch of stuff to take into consideration. But also amature street means it's your first season too. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. I'm still very new to meca and competing You are correct. The testing is done with the vehicle off with only 2 batteries that may contain no higher CCA rating than 1200 a piece. The vehicle is a full size Ford Bronco with the install located in the rear cargo area. The vehicle is only allowed to use 2 80 amp ANL fuses. I believe the install is capable of a lot more, just the competitor is as said before a 1st year competitor and still learning the vehicle. Also the score is taken from playing a musical track as required by MECA AS3 competitors. The vehicle also peaks a 32 hz.

    MECA Freezefest 2011 SPL / "SQL" Event - 2/13/2011

Yes, very true! I am curious to have seen/heard how they sounded and the power/enclosure details. I know Steve Cook's Avalanche took SQ Best in Show @ Finals in 2008. I have heard the truck. I sounds awesome and is very dynamic. The subs are very accurate for being 18's.

Me neither. But hey when you work with a company like IA who builds their products in house, custom built subs can be done.

    12 187 15's in a Plymouth Voyager

That is the other reason why I built it. When I had the 24 10's in it. The van got a lot of YouTube exposure and really promoted the True Bass Solutions that was in it.

    12 187 15's in a Plymouth Voyager

This vehicle was built to promote Incriminator Audio in the Fayetteville TN area. DJ Car Audio just recently picked up the line and are very happy with the results. This was just a quick video for MECA's Freezefest 2011

    12 187 15's in a Plymouth Voyager

The reason why I did not wall it off is because I still want the vehicle to remain usable once I decide to get out of the 12 volt world. I have been doing this since 1996. Plus the original set up was 24 10's done in a similiar fashion. I do this more for fun and less for competition purposes. I have MECA World Championships in SPL and ""SQL"". I am looking for that Drive-by SPL championship and this design really promotes that. I have owned vehicles with full walls, street installs, and a full extreme vehicle. Out of all of them, my van has been one of the funniest things I have built.

Article Submitted to 12 Volt News for Publication

We have been working to get our article in some major publications. The problem is major publications only cover drifting and import shows. The pure 12 volt mag is a thing of the past. 12 Volt News is a publication that goes out to industry people which is a good things for Sundown because 12 Volt retailers can read about the success of Sundown products and this may peak their interest.
