    Sound deadening on a budget?

Good cheap way to do what? Because it's not an effective sound deadening product if thats what you mean.

I've notified the people who do the web stuff that there has been some issues with the code not working. I'll update the thread as soon as I know more or what the issue is. I don't have any graphs but the deflex pads work on the similar principle acoustical foam. The peaks & valleys redirect sound waves and since the deflex pads are made of thick rubber, some of those waves are absorbed.

No problem. Like I said I've seen people install deflex pads in sub enclosures, but have never personally heard a system with a pad installed in the enclosure. Damplifier Pro (or really any CLD product) controls panel vibrations/resonance. Whereas this product is intended to redirect the rear projected sound waves. Obviously it's best if you use both a CLD and this product in conjunction. CCF has been used as a sound absorber, but in all honesty I can't tell a difference between a panel that has been treated with CCF behind the speaker and one that has not.

The rear projected sound waves can cause distortion or even acoustical cancellation, thus killing your SQ and overall sound. These pads are designed to absorb and reflect these rear projected sound waves, thus eliminating this issue. People have also used these in sub enclosures, though I'm not entirely sure how useful they are in that sort of install.

Sound Deadening on a Budget [Off Topic]

Just like most threads things on the internet, they become ridiculously off topic and nonsensical. I think it was no longer about sound deadening about a week ago.

    Road noise - need advice

I assumed thats what he was referring to... remember I have to play nice on all of these forums. Nampa to be exact. I know several people who moved to or from Ogden and Provo.

LOL. People on SMD need deadening too. A rep in the Second Skin section has been MIA for a while and I'm sure people would appreciate having one. That and Don could use some competition. Only kidding of course... or am I?

    Sound deadening on a budget?

I need to move to AZ... seriously. Don has pretty much thought his products out to the nth degree. That and his tiles do have a heavier gauge foil. I think there is only one other product out there that has a thicker.

LOL, yeah I need to get everything setup over here so there is no confusion as to who the hell I am.

    Sound deadening on a budget?

Ah ok, so it was some b-stock Damplifier, not actual Damplifier Pro. Not going to split hairs because I've had b-stock Damplifier and Damplifier Pro and it was all over the place, thick and thin. But for the price I was happy. Don's CLD tiles are literally the only vibration mat I haven't had the opportunity to use, but that will change shortly since Don is nice enough to send me a sample as soon as he gets it in stock.

or SMD. In fact, there's a rep who just posted literally 5 mins ago. That's only if you want a rep online. You could always email or call instead, if you want. I'm sure there are many educated people in the "Deadening" Section too I would be that rep. I just haven't made a new account here. We're ramping up our support on all of the forums we support and trying to get back into the rhythm of things. So expect to see me around more.

    Sound deadening on a budget?

Is that a fact or a statement? Because I know for a fact that Don's product is the same thickness as Damplifier Pro (80 mils nominal). Best suggestion I'd give you is buy the highest quality mat you can afford. So depending on how much you are wanting to spend, RAAMat might just be the best choice. That and Rick is a nice guy.

The issue you ran into is that you controlled the vibrations with the CLD mat, but never did anything to actually block the noise. Vibration mats can only do so much to help reduce the noise, once the vibrations are lessened, a different product needs to be used. So just like everybody said, a MLV layer with a decoupler (foam) will be the solution to your problems. I apologize for the late reply.
