  1. The P900.4 it is! The smaller footprint over the BK800.4 is the topper for me. Onlinecarstereo has them in stock, thanks Lithium! Just wish I had bought it with the 80prs last week. Once I have some experience tuning, do you think it would be wise to bridge the 900.4 to a set of robust mid drivers? Then another amp can be purchased to run the tweeters? M5: Could you give more info on the components you recommended? I'm not sure what to look for. Thanks

    Who are the box builders

I'm looking forward to building a box for you blowthemup. I will first build a mockup frame to ensure the box fits easily through your trunk opening. Anyone in need of an enclosure in the Charlotte area, please feel free to contact me. Jason
  3. Great info, thanks! Wouldn't you know the ppi is out of stock until June 1st as well.....SONOFA! Please tell me it's only the Symphony series of Crescendo that is bad. The BC2000 I had did well, and the new recent BC5500 purchase was planned to be in my vehicles for quite a while.
  4. No, and No. Sorry I'm not much help. @ Jay-cee: If I have to go $300, I can. That tweeter is perfect size. @ Lithium: I have seen the ppi amps in people's sigs. Are they a decent amp? I like small at this point! The price is right on those as well. I will get the door panel opened up this weekend. Not sure what I can fit in there yet. If the driver sticks out of the door into the cabin, that is fine by me. I just don't want to buy another stock door panel when its time to sell the car, which is hopefully 1 - 1.5 years. Edit: Any reason I SHOULDN"T buy the ppi 900.4 amp? I really didn't want to wait until June 1 for the Crescendo 800.4, plus the $100 savings can go right to the mid driver

    Secure Sub Box (anti-theft)

I like this idea! Have a link to the horn you used? And YES on the square head screws. Like stated, they do not strip
  6. I'm with you, I try to buy everything through Amazon! Easiest returns on the net also. The best I saw there was $294 with shipping......hmmm. The price had recently increased on Amazon.
  7. I just wanted to give anyone in the market for this HU the info I just found. I just bought this new from onlinecarstereo.com for $279, but if you enter this code, OCSAVE13 it will drop the total down to $262.26. Happy shopping! I can't wait to get mine

never again will i order from here

Do I need to post the screen shots of PM's and FB messages? You have shown your character. Everyone on this site and many others know I have never been rude to them for SSA business. I agree with this statement 100%! I am very green around here, but Aaron has been nothing but professional and fast reacting to my numerous questions.
  9. +2 on Swifts comment. The mechman 320 alt I recently purchased needed minor modification to install.
  10. I have recently bought 2 DieHard platinums, and am very pleased with the improved voltage. The 34M fit up front, with the 31M in the trunk. They are both on sale at Sears now. The local stores will match the online prices, just show them on your phone. I also bought my current 2/0 wire from weldingsupply.com
  11. Why not use water once it's all completely cured? Seems much quicker and cleaner.
  12. Great build you have going here! Fiberglass box looks excellent Would you mind giving us specs on the box once complete, including weight?

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Which model do you like there schneezy? The units with at least 5 channel inputs (8x8) were still $400.

    3k, 2-12s ICONs or XCONs?

Still in the learning/researching phase, but I really do enjoy this part. Just looked up pics of your vehicle. Man you have the perfect cabin space for big sound! I change my answer: DEFINITELY go with the Xcons in a big box.

jay-cee: Great explanations!! Thanks for taking the time to write all that I think if others would explain how our sub stage is already an active crossover, the topic would become much less confusing for the masses. I see how tuning slopes and frequency bandwidths will take some time, but that sounds fun to me. What guy doesn't like tinkering with his new toys? Schneezy, more great tips as usual, thanks! Alton & crackinheadz: I think you guys are right, and I know you said it in the begining crackin. I should just buy the rf360.3 and be done with it! Man there goes the damn $1000 budget again, sonofa!! Correct me if I'm wrong here, but how does this plan sound? 1. Buy rf360.3 - Wire it into the outputs of my factory Monsoon amp. I have 5 factory pairs of speakers. Do you think this would include all frequencies? My concern is the Monsoon amp is cutting out some of the low lows, like high 20Hz frequencies. Do I need an oscilloscope to be sure? 2. Buy a 6 channel amp. The tweeters will only need 2 channeIs as they require little power. Then bridge the other 4 channels to power the 6"ish midbass drivers. Since the sub stage hits quite hard, a very strong midbass pair should help tie it all together. Sound reasonable? I've never had quality midbass before.....Booo!! 3. Buy tweeters & midbass drivers. I have no idea about tweeters. A friend told me to look at Morel 6" drivers. I saw those on the madisound site. Worth the $ ? I last question: Is 2/0 welding wire (I already have) enough to link the front & rear batteries? Specs say its good for 500A. I need to upgrade the single 1/0 run I have now, and start tidying things up. Thanks!

    3k, 2-12s ICONs or XCONs?

Welcome! Talk to garychurch some more about the Icons. He's getting good output with his. I have a pair of Xcons, and love them! Mine are almost fully broke in & putting a hurting on my poor G6

@ jay-cee, good tip on Pioneer. I just looked at the Silver Flute W17RC38-04 in your sig. That looks like a hell of lot of speaker for $30! Did you make enclosures in the doors for those? A strong 4 channel amp sounds like a good simple start for me. I really would prefer to keep this on he smaller side. Gotta be some pretty good options under $500 right? @Alton; I've finally given in to putting in an aftermarket hu, which will most likely be the 80prs. I can't justify buying a DSP, when a better HU solves the sound quality loss for less.

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

I really like the sound of that. Thanks for your input! The Leviathan really is a little more than I want to spend right now. Do I really need 6 channels? I am completely new to the active world, but I enjoy research. Do you have any good links I can learn from? On Pioneer's website, the 80prs is no longer listed. Is it replaced with a different/better model this year? I do see it for sale on Amazon still for $270

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

YES I DID! haaa!! I had planned all along to go with the BC3500 for the Xcons, but then I figured wat the hell? The 5500 can run the Xcons with ease & I'll have more juice on tap once I get the next larger vehicle.

Front door. There is a small plastic cover that could be a perfect custom built tweeter enclosure I can aim. I'll snap a pic tomorrow.

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Thanks, I'm slow going but overall it's a fun work in progress. Sorry to rant about the mech alt, but when I spend $500, I expect high quality in all the details. Voltage is very strong now. Cruising on the highway (1600 rpm +), where I play the loudest, I haven't seen under 13.4v. So the sub stage went WAY above & beyond what I had originally planned, but I'm very pleased with it's output. Now to start on the very anemic front stage. Against my original plan to keep the stock HU, I have decided to replace it. I will miss the tire pressure sensors the most, but I do realize starting with a poor signal makes the entire process much tougher and costly. I have an older Panasonic HU CQ-C9801U with a 9 band eq and bass level control built in, which I would like to use until I get the 2/4 ch amp and components purchased and installed. I'll get a new HU shortly after. I'd really like to stay below $800 on the front amp and components if possible. Does this sound reasonable to keep up with my sub stage? Please give me any thoughts & opinions you have here. I'm also open (maybee even leaning) toward going active, although I'm not sure the old Panasonic HU would support this. Thanks

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Very disappointed in the mechman alt. 1st and LAST purchase from mechfem by me. 3 relatively important issues mechfem does not tell you: 1) The rear mounting bracket was too narrow by at least 3 mil. I had to bore out mounting holes to get bolts to finger start. That is terrible quality control for a $500 alternator. 2) One of the the stock mounting M10 bolts is about 3/8" too short for mechfem bracket.........blame Korea?? Don't you think the part time engineers at mechman could provide that bolt with the alternator? Nawww I guess the local ACE had me covered. 3) Stock alternator belt is too long. Again, very simple point of knowledge to pass along to the consumer. Correct new alt belt length is 1" shorter.
