    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Gonna grab a new serpentine belt tomorrow before the alt install. I was surprised the stock alt did as well as she did. I had to run the amp fairly hard to drop the voltage to 12.0. I have to credit the 2 Die Hards for that. I'm sure this rig 14v and full tilt is gonna be incredible. It's already the loudest vehicle I've ever been in, so I'm easing my way up very slowly with the gains and volume. Gain is at 1/4 right now. Do you guys think 1 run of 2/0 welding wire is sufficient to link the front and rear battery?

Upon arriving home, wife says, "You got another heavy damn package!" HellZ yeah!! Happy Happy Happy!! I'd like to thank Aaron with SSA. I ordered both this amp and Mechman alt exactly one week ago today. Great service from SSA, thanks A TON!! 326.....Oh YEA Clean unit

If you can't tell, I am very happy with this combo :-) Little & Big brother: BC2000 & BC5500 BC2000 is now for sale. I'll post it in the classifieds. Amp is mint. Sweet new ride....congrats!! I really like the lines on those new Fusions.....very Sharp Aston Martinish look about the front end. How big a box were you able to stuff in that trunk?

Wire bought from Knu, thanks! Had to spend some more $$ today at Sears Bought the 34M to run up front. Only some minor dremmeling needed. Bye bye Yellow nips Hello Bass assistant 14.4 at idle with eveything off. I had never seen 14.0 before. The even better news is the car is not dropping below 12.7v at full tilt, which is a 1.5v increase. It seems like the Xcons are getting louder each day. It also helps having good batteries now too

Just click on the URL to the right of "IMG" and it will automatically copy. Then just paste here in your text. That's a great size on your box. Did you design it in torres? I wish I could have gone a little larger, but the G6 wouldn't allow it. I had a Grand Prix as a company car years ago. It saw a very hard life and held up like a champ! I hear you on the bug! I'm hooked also

I still need to buy good speaker wire. Any reccomendations? I was thinking KnuConceptz 10ga for the subs, but what gauge for the front components?

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Great advice on the 31M (100Ah) Die Hard Platinum battery fellas!! I'm getting just slight headlight dim on the BC2000 at half gain now. It's on sale at Sears right now, $251 after tax, which is over $100 cheaper than the XS D3100. This thing is waay to tall to fit in my engine bay though. I'm thinking a Die Hard 34M (68 Ah) up front will be a good match. SInce I left my multimeter at Sear today, I may just buy the 34 tomorrow when I go back Just a quick brace fab, but it fits perfectly under the box. The guys at Sears said it was no problem mounting on its side. Do you guys think this is a non-issue? Had to crimp a 1/0 terminal on my existing power run. This hydraulic crimper from Harbor Freight works great! I grind out 1/4" of the terminal to gave the two rounds more room to collapse on the wire.

TY for the compliments. Good tip, thanks! I can add a vertical support when I take subs out to paint. Gonna run by Sears on way home from work. If they have the group31s Ill prob buy 2, and figure a way to shoehorn 1 in the stock location. Then to run the new 2/0 wire. Id like to see how bad the voltage drop is b4 the HO alt. Is a seperate run of 2/0 ground wire necessary? Or does that depend on the actual drop?

Cheers to a fellow Pontiac owner!! How big a box were you able to fit in the Grand Prix? The box ODs for my G6 were 26.75x35x14. Good work on the gear! Don't think we can go wrong SSA & Crescendo

Thanks! I really did enjoy building it. I hadn't done any amount of woodworking in quite a few years. I would change just one thing, the glue I used. I went with liquid nails, which doesn't sand very well. I'll weigh the whole unit when I take it out soon, as I'm curious. What you think, about 160lb? JAy-Cee: You have me considering swinging by Sears today after work. $100 less per battery sounds good! What do you have for electrical in the Acura??

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Perfect read for me, thanks Jay-Cee!! Would you say the D3100 is the best bang for your buck? I may just have to figure out how to cram a 2nd in the engine bay. I think I'm going to pull the plug on a 320a mechman alt, unless anyone can convince me why I only need the 240a.

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

First off, WOW!! These Xcons sound soo smooth and clean! I just wish I had gotten into quality gear sooner. Like one stated earlier, they're giving me a boner...haaa The car is also rattling soo much less now with subs now firing into the cabin...love it!! Deadening is still coming soon too though. First I need to address my electrical needs. At idle, car is 14.4v. At full tilt with a BC2000 I'm dropping to low 11s. This is obviously no good and I'm not wanting to even crank it until I get a new alt & battery. Here's what I'm thinking: Mechman 320a alt & a XS D3100?? Good combo together? If I'm getting just 1 rear battery is the D3100 large enough? An engine bay battery is on the list eventually, but I'd like to keep running the yellow top up there for now. I really don't want more than 2 batteries, as all this equipment is already heavy enough for this car. I'm planning on either the AQ3500 or Crescendo 3500 for sub amp, and still undecided on front stage amp, Lets say 800w for front amp for now. I'm ready to buy stuff tomorrow, as I just can't wait to hear these Xcons at 14v.

Box still needs to be painted and have quality terminals installed, but I couldn't wait ANY longer. She's a tight squeeze, but no hard pushing required to get box in. Getting her out will be a heavy lift from a crappy angle, but I am installing handles on the back to aid. The wife said, "You built it, you lift it" Ahh well, she doesn't get it. Side panels will be getting built next. Sub height came out good into cabin even with a situp mat under box Rear shot: Not much space back there anymore. I wanted to still carry a spare, so the little donut worked out perfect.

Cut port with second face layer glued n screwed like a mofo. (reminds my of a girl I used to date.......HaHaaa!) I didn't want any screw heads or holes on front face. Should never have done this in the garage with the door closed. I just couldn't quit, as the end was in sight...

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Alright, progress to finally report. Box is complete and in car.....WooHoooo. Here's some pics of the fun..... Before I cut down the port. This length would have been around 31Hz per Torres. I ended up making the port a little wider so I could keep more port length. Slick Bosche plunge router with circle guide from Lowe's. Perfectly clean cut
  24. Jasonc13

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

I have been measuring port length as highlighted in red. IS this correct?
  25. Jasonc13

    Pontiac G6 with 2 Ethos 18's

Here's the final calculation. That 23" of port length will hardly extend past the bend, as the front straight is almost 18". I'm guessing that's ok, as long as the dimensions in Torres are accurate? (which they are)
