    Expedition w/four 18" BTLs

yeah my boxes have always been resin colored, since i started competing. i really dont care how ugly they look, as long as they perform. rule of thumb - the uglier the box, the louder it is

    Expedition w/four 18" BTLs

my goals are to be loudest at 41 or 44hz for bass racing young jeezy or lil john at comps. the louder the better. im using the go getta remix which is like 38hz and its working fairly well for this setup, but the other two songs are more constant for bass race. so i would like to get my note up. with the flared slot it did around a 149 at 43hz. i tried everything from 33-45hz with the flared slot, and 33hz was louder than the aeros by a lil bit and 36 was quieter than the aeros by a little bit and still my peak my last box was four 15s, 8 cubes net, 80 sq in slot port and loudest note was 47hz next step will either be to cut down the box and go that route, or just wall it with about 40cubes and 500 sq in of port, im leanin towards the wall. i'll make a post either way of what i do...

    Expedition w/four 18" BTLs

i made this post on termpro but it belongs here as well...i'll give you guys the shortened version. i flush mounted the aero ports. four kinetik 2400s (one under the hood) entire box is double layered 3/4 mdf temporarily using two memphis 4kws till my four groundpounder 3000s arrive this month box is 28 gross 25 cubes net, 14" long aeros, 226 sq in of port heres the vid it did 152.0db at 33hz it'll peak at 36hz and does 153.0db @36hz its unnecessarily loud on the low notes tried a new port, 400 sq in flared slot using 8" pvc trying to raise my note but it didnt old setup did 152.0 at 33 this did 152.4 at 33hz. old setup did 153.0 at 36 this did 152.5 at 36hz. so i'll stick with the aeroports for now gonna go get my bass race on tomorrow in wooster... feel free to leave any comments or suggestions...

how to fit large wire into btl speaker terminals

ok btw what is QFT stand for?
  6. i have four btl 18s. is it safe to try to drill the terminals to make them just a little bit wider? i cant fit a full piece of 8 gauge into one terminal, i have to trim it just a little bit. and trying to fit two 8 gauge wires into one terminal i might as well just use 12 or 14 gauge because i have to trim the 8 gauge down so much its ridiculous. how bout taking either a unibit/varibit/stepbit (call it what u want), or a slightly bigger drill bit and try to make them bigger? extremely bad idea and i'm gonna end up needing to replace something because i'll break something? or be very careful and go slow and it will work? 2000 rms u would think u could fit a big ass wire on there? it'd be sweet if i could get a ring terminal on a speaker now thatd be nice i'd really appreciate what scott, nick, or shaun has to say about how to make the terminals larger. btw I just install my four btl 18s in my 25 net cube box...i'll post a thread of the build in here once i get it playing loud

Building a double layer box - which method is strongest?

audiophyle, i think i understand what u mean pinwheel fashion but a pic would help
  8. building a normal box but using two layers of 3/4 mdf all around, which way would be the strongest? i know the first would be the easiest with less cutting, but would number 2 be so much stronger that i should definetly go with that method? Number 1 Number 2 any opinions are appreciated!

Need help tuning four btl 18s with aeros

ok just tried plugging in some unofficial specs into winisd to try to get port length 41hz tuning seemed to have the most output at 44hz i would have to make each aero 6.25 inches long how far off is that? right on the money? i know i'm gonna have to do some testing and cutting to find out what works best but if i know say 6.25 is ideal i'll start with 9 inches then go 1/2 or 1 inch at a time cutting off little by little till i lose score any thoughts?
  10. outter box dimensions are gonna be 58" deep x 46" wide x 24" high using two layers of 3/4 mdf all around (1.5" sides) gives me 28.7 cu ft before displacement assuming displacement is .26 per woofer lets call it 1 cu ft my plan is to use six 6" aero's to start with i am aiming to get at least 25 cubes net after port and sub displacement (assuming 1.5 cubes displacement for 6 6" aeros 15" long) i NEED this box to be LOUDEST at 44hz, so i'm guessing tune to around 40hz (not sure) its gonna be only for bass race and shows, i wont be driving this setup around town everyday, but i still will be playing music, mostly rap and not much in the 30-40hz range. dimensions are pretty solid if need be i can make it taller if i need more cubes. i know 6 6" aeros is small on the port area for four 18s, i may add another 2 and get to 8 someday if need be i need to know how long to make the aero's to get max output at 44hz please advise...
