  1. They called a buildhouse, picked out a generic board and sink and had the BH engineers install components to meet their spec, and voila. Any of us can do it. You call up a company, tell them you want a 5K amp with .001% distortion at 4ohms that is stable to X ohms, draws X amount of current, etc. They build some protos, ship them to you, you test, agree or disagree, wait til they get everything right, pay them, and bam you have amps. You don't have to know a damn thing about amps, electronics or anything. All you need is money. It's pretty simple and has been done for quite some time, and some people have become quite popular doing this.

If people only knew how easy it really is to become an amplifier manufacturer/vendor if you have the capital!

about 30-40 grand to get something going

More if you want a custom heatsink casing.

  3. I bought an RLS-15 (sorry not an RLP-15) a few years ago with a Behringer EP-2500 with the best intentions, to build an IB manifold in my livingroom ceiling.

It turns out I am not a good carpenter and chickened out on cutting a manifold opening in my ceiling, so my IB dreams never came true. I just can't seem to make anything pretty out of plywood and MDF. I've listed the amp and speaker on ebay and hope that the RLP-15 will find a deserving home with someone who really understands this driver's capabilities. I ended up just putting a Axiom 12" subwoofer cube in the livingroom.

  4. One of my biggest fail moments was back in 98. I kept hooking up my Punch amp backwards, because my other RF amp right beside it, had the polarities oriented the other way. I blew three fuses before the Punch let out the magic smoke, and then I realized what I had done.

    Ouch! :peepwall:
