i also had the thought of an NS1 at 2 ohms daily... and half ohm for burps
This option will be less taxing on your electrical and amplifier. I say go this route. Can always add an other NS-1 down the road and strap them.

Now support that amp with proper electrical. Very nice choice on the amplifier!

Ear, nose and vision is how I have always set my gains especially with sub woofers. Your amplifier has a variable subsonic filter which I prefer as it's more versatile.

Tuned in for this build!

I can sell you a personally gently used Sundown SAX-125.2 if your interested in buying from me here on SSA. I'm no scammer. I rep for Sundown in SD and ND.

If your on a tight budget check out the Audiopipe line of amplifiers. They can be had for cheap and people seem to have good luck with them.

Good to hear! I could use some new components.

SSA ftw!
My lil ol' 10" DCON amazes people at how much output it has and how well balanced the sound is!

I cannot wait for these to be released! They look great!

Go here and it will give you the information your looking for.
I would go with port and sub rear firing. Port to drivers side.

You should be fine with stock electrical with that amplifier. I would though recommend you do the "Big Three" up grade with a miniumum of 4 gauge power and ground cable. 1/0 would be better imo.
As far as box goes if you can fit a 7.5ft^3 box that would be optimum imo. Tune it around 35hz and it should perform great.
If you can give some trunk dimensions it will make it easier to see if a pair of 15's will work for you.

I remember when the AT owner was really pushing AudioWrap as the greatest sound dampening to come out. Then he is doing a CLD test on pop cans at his parents house and asking for free samples from quality vendors such as SDS and Second Skin.
A short time later he is promoting his own line of Sound Dampening material and knocking other companies products.
I give him props for starting a company, but his lack of knowledge and business ethics have turned me off.
Just my .02!
It's actually worse (and funnier) than that. It started with the soda can tests which proclaimed SDS the winner! He actually left that video on Youtube for something like a year. I was still getting queries up until a few moths ago from people wh saw the video.
While he was gathering samples for the soda can testing, he got hooked up wth AudioWrap someow and was spamming their product. Soon after that he decided to launch his own product and started spaming forums again.
Somebody from one of these forums e-mailed me to ask if I knew who cthedinger was. He told me the forum members had backed him into a corner by asking him to explain how vibration dampers work.
About two minutes later I get an e-mail that starts:
"Hey Don. I was just thinking about things. Can you explain to me how vibration dampers work - strictly for my own education"?
No joke.
Wow! That is just sad!
SDS ftw!

made by sundown? Is that the new relationship?I won't support a brand like this when the owner will not own up to mistakes or faulty product. And now he's getting into subwoofers and who knows what else.
That's the scary part.
Don't think so.
AT bought a company called Atmos Audio. They were a small subwoofer manufacturer that had a section over at CSCO. I am certain the owner of AT has no sub woofer engineering or acoustic background to design a sub woofer.
Getting to be to many cookie cutter start up companies lately.

You should post this in one of the AT sub forums and see what is said. I know I will not buy this after seeing the pictures. And not using a roller will not cause this!

Why not keep the Alpine? Seems to me you achieved your goal with building the new box.

I tried the foam thing once too and well, it was shit canned after an hour of looking at the terrible job I did wrapping it.

Aero port questions

The flares are what make the aero port efficient as it reduces the turbulence at entry and exit of the port.
As far as port area and "Rule Of Thumb" recommendations, I would say you can get away with 25-30% less port are of a standard slot port.
I have used and currently use aero ports and have great luck with them.
