    Best on music was a mid 55.  A 55.3 i beLIEve. Legal. Sealed,.. dash.

    Other 2 ampere's are paid for, and are due in on this pre buy... I think around 18-20 days. from now.

     

    I also got my second singer hair pin in.  This one is a big case 370 ... with the idle beast 270.

    I have a "wired clamp" that rides up front, and helps me out.  If i roll down, or vent/crack a door, ill see a more... and at around 1300 rev.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    added a simple cable to keep my revs locked when demoing... i meter at idle.

     

     

     

     

     

    Speaking of which.. i dumped the SPL labs meter (which worked fine for what i was doing at the time) and nabbed a magnum.

    Also, for those that dont know, these are 4 year SP4's.. SPACED spider... OEM leads....

    Buy the biggest alt you can afford. Thats about the best advice for ANYONE looking to buy one. 

    First look at a good quality brand, and then get the biggest alternator possible. (I know you mean quality alternator, but some people might think bigger is better disregarding quality)

     

     

     

    And the "BIGGEST" isnt always the best.

     

     

    Sure it will do some amps at 2k, but, dick at idle.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Id rather have something else. Something that can "do it all".

     

    Even more with the power he has/had. Hell,..  a nice 250 would suite him JUST fine.  You dont need a 370 whatever. Just me.

     

    (hell that alt would cost more than his entire build)

    He runs 2 "small" amplifiers. And he already has two batteries.

    I don't know if he did the big3, but I can't understand why he has major voltage drops. There must be a problem somewhere.

    I'm not an expert at all.

     

    Of course running the biggest alternator you can will always be a good thing. Especially if you run a 3500 watts amplifier. You will need more or bigger batteries too.

    Theres something wrong with your build... you shouldnt have major voltage drop with an 80 amp alt w/ 2 batts. your probably pulling like 200 amps with both amplifiers lol. What kind of wire are you using?

    so this kid on SMD claims that i should be ok with an 80 amp stock

    alternator running off an audio pipe 2000 together with a rockford 250.4

     

    as it is i have major volt drop, have a yellow top under the hood and

    an xs power xp950

     

    I'm looking forward into buying a singer alt 180 amps

     

    but trying to see if it'll be good even after i purchase a larger

    amp which I'm thinking about the soundqubed q1 3500

     

    let me know what you guys think, should i stick to the 180 amps and still

    be good in the future?

     

    (still gonna purchase a second xp950 in the near future)

    Even with a 180A alt you're going to need more battery than 70AH, in my experience 1 group 31 per 2500w, so you're going to need at least 2.

     

    and if you read the post again,  I'm getting another battery (soon approximately next week

     

    but instead of helping you just rather put people down! come on homie

    Ive been a audio nut ever sense i young. Would mow lawns all summer to keep my Auto Sound & Security, and Car Stero Review mags coming to my house. Grew up in a VERY small town. Only way i could get a look at the outside world.

     

    Utah is behind in pretty much everything, lol.  Car audio no exception. VERY few shows/comps. And maybe a handful of shops that know whats up.

     

    Im glad to see things changing. Like i said, ive been waiting for a LONG time. lol.

     

    Glad to have you. The Utah "group" has meet and greats all the time. Ill let you know.  Keep on, keepin on. ;)
