  1. why when i go and look at the sub it has to differant sizes for ported boxes for the 15 Xcon.... here is what i mean..

    nclosure Recommendations:

    Sealed: 2.0 - 2.25 cu.ft.

    Sealed: 2.75 - 3.0 cu.ft. optimal

    Ported: 3.0 - 3.25 cu.ft. @ 26-33 hz

    Ported: 4.0 cu.ft. @ 26-33hz opt.

    Sub Outside Dia.: 15.625”

    Cut Inside Dia.: 14.125”

    Displacement: 0.20 cu.ft.

oh i see now.. the bigger one is opt.

yep if you can just try finding a way to fit it so you end up with around 4 cubes.

also like it was said before make sure you take displacement into account.

Yes, but we don't want people to feel they have to, the 3.25 cubes is plenty. :)

well no matter what he builds he's definitely be happy with the xcon.

    great sub :D

  2. I'm ordering a Fi BTL 12 for my charger, and have been searching for which amp to get.

    Thoughts?

    SAZ 1200D

I'm ordering a Fi BTL 12 for my charger, and have been searching for which amp to get.

    Thoughts?

some of the ones i would look into:

    Sundown saz-3500d.

    rockrord fosgate 2500bd(new model)

    soundstream xxx4000d

id go with sundown. sundown amps are way underrated.

they also have a 2000d model if you cant buy the 3500d.

you guys are jumping the gun here...

OP we need more info!! read the noob posting guidelines. before you spend all your cash on an amp and realize you forgot to budget for the electrical...

he asked what amp to get and we answered.

i dont believe thats jumping the gun.

  3. I just built a box for my new fully loaded Fi BL 15. Specs: H:18" W:17.5" L:38".....Square port length: 4.5" Port length 2: 20.75"...with 3/4 MDF. Box is tuned to 33.14hz and the Box volume is 3.822cuft. Sound good? will it work?

that box volume is wayy to small for that sub. it deff wont sound that good.

It says they need 3-5 cubic feet. Hows that to small?

that box is fine. nothing to worry about.

mines a little over 4 cubes.

  5. i don't really remember for sure.... it has beena about a 1 1/2 years since i built it... and it was the first one i built.... i would have to messure it agin.. plus the shape makes it alittle hard to figure. . i think it was about 2 to 2 1/2 .. but not really sure.. i want the next one to be right for the Xcon... mite need some help on figureing out how big it will have to be like i was saying.. or if it is possible to do like i was thinking

the enclosure recommendation is 4 cubes. i really wouldnt go any lower then that.

are you building a sealed or ported?

  6. My sub choices consist of the following:

FI SSD, Ascendant Arsenal, Treo TE or SSi, Incrminator Li.

    all are 10"

Would like to know how each of these subs rate musically wise that can still get fairly loud when needed.

Would like to use a small sealed box.

id go with either the LI or FI.

ive heard an ssd and i liked it but ive heard only good things about the LI.

  7. Whats the difference between a dual 1 ohm sub and a dual 2 ohm? And if the amp puts out at 2 ohms why wouldnt i get a 2 ohm sub?

by dual it means it has dual coils. it has two sets of coils you wire to the amp.

if its a dual 1 ohm sub it can be wired to .5 ohms and 2 ohms. in this case you would go with the kicker amp.

if its dual 2 ohm it can be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohms. you would go with the amps we mentioned for this.

  8. i think ppl should have to take like a little quiz to test their newb status at signup....then this could be avoided

You are missing the point then.

    haha u tell him denim

  9. Alright. So im putting together my new system and im new to this so i need some guidance or help. I just bought a BL 15 fully loaded dual 1 and built the new box so thats takin care of for the sub. Now im buying a Hifonics BXi 1210D. Im going to have to run 4 gauge wire with that amp tho and i was wondering would i want to get an amp with 0 gauge instead? difference? I dont know what to throw around my car for speakers tho. any ideas? Im going to run a Rockford punch 550x2 to the speaks what ever they are. And im going to run another amp, Alpine 650 mono to some towers im throwing in. Do i need a distribution block or a fused distribution block to run 3 amps? Going to have all amps running off this http://mechman.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/1/products_id/28. Donoo about a head unit yet, which one that is. Again any ideas? All going into a 97 4runner or a 2000 Xterra. If anyone feels like Kind of building a system and helping me out, then help me out please. Thanks to anyone!

if your going to use that hifonics amp you need to change your order on your bl to dual 2 ohm.

  10. Damn thats crazy because I would of thought a Jimmy was wider than my Saturn Ion, I have a 34" trunk opening and 35" is you remove the weatherstripping; I have 43" between both wheel wells.

well thats just between the wheel wells and thats where my box sits.

back behind the wheel wells its probably close to 50 or 55.

i haven't measured it before so now im kinda curious lol.

  11. ive heard both the bl and xcon.

the xcon is soooo much different from the bl.

i like how the bl sounds but i loved how the xcon sounded fing05.gif

What were the pros and cons of each if any.

well to me the xcon seemed louder. the bl is pretty close though.

the xcon does wayy better on the lows. ive never had low notes get to my ears before i heard the xcon.

the bl is more an spl sub.

it does way better on the high notes and it still does pretty good on the lows.

  12. so after finally getting everything tuned to where i wanted and set-up i was driving around for a little bit and then out of nowhere there is no bass... pulled over right then and checked the amp.. blue power light is on, no sign of protect mode at all. after work i got home and checked my fuses, all is fine. other speakers are normal, but when i checked speaker outputs from amp there is 0 volts. how do i fix this? hope its not that bad, was just starting to enjoy it all again! its a sundown SAZ-1500D, I've only had it a couple months, but i did get it from Db-r.com, but he does good work, no?

  13. Yo bro i just got the 15 bl fully loaded in my caddy and the box is 4 cuft tuned to 30Hz...all i can say is that it bumps like you couldnt believe..if you like low bass tht shakes ur seats then 30Hz is the magic number cuz mine hits better than my buddies 15in MTX 9500...i have all the plans cuz i built the box myself so if your interested let me know..oh and what car are you planning on putting it in??

Nice thats what i like to hear, yes i would like the plans for your box if you dont mind. :fing34:

and the car its going in is a 2000 Chevy Malibu not a huge trunk but i hope its big enough for 1 15"

    Thanks alot buddy

first thing u should is measure and get the dimensions from your trunk.

that way we can see how many cubes your working with.

the bl doesn't require that big of a box so if you build the box right its gona fit in your trunk.

you can go to re audio and on there they have a box calculator so you can build your own box.

just measure first then we can help you with the rest. also tell us what you want your box tuned to.

im not to sure what i want my box tuned to i never built a box up to these specs..... iv only made small boxes with 3" circle ports i took off another box..... so any advice you can give me would be great.

    Thanks

well i have my boxed tuned to 32 hz.

ive had two boxes. the first was tuned to 34 hz. the second one is tuned to 32 hz.

i like the second box waaay better. it gets low and still hits the highs.

the lower u tune the box the better it picks up the lows.

ya well i tuned my box to 30 Hz cuz the standing wave in my car wave 29 at a 1/4 wave so it plays the loudest possible in my car...but il give you the dimensions and if the fit in your trunk then your golden but if not then you will have to calc another one..Ext. Dimensions-(W 38.5")(H 17")(D 17.5")..and that is with a port 3 1/4"x15 1/2"..with 3/4 mdf the interior volume of the box is 4cuft taking the port area and sub displacement into account..if those dimensions fit i'l tell you the port length and all the good stuff

    Hope it works out man

u got a wide ass trunk lol.

i got just about 37" between the wheel wells in my jimmy.
