    Hello, Here is the car itself.... Here is my build log for my 2010 honda civic LX, when I bought this car I started with a pair of Alpine Type-E 10's in a prefab on an Alpine MRP-M500. Then I upgraded the door and rear speakers with Polk Audio DXI650's and an Alpine MRP-F300 which I also use in my current build. After that I moved to an AB XFL 15's on an Audio Technix AT1200.1d. This log will reflect my current state: DC Power 180 amp alternator XS D5100R under the hood Northstar NSB-AGM24M in the trunk Audio Technix 1/0 OFC run to the trunk Knukonceptz 1/0 OFC in the trunk Sky High Lugs and RCA's Alpine CDE-HD137BT Crscendo RTS-1 tweeters Sony mids Alpine-MRP-F300 bridged at 20Vac for 100wrms Soundqubed HDS312's in a sealed 5.02^3 enclourse(Yes it's too big, fixing it tonight!) Soundqubed Q1-2200D Audio Technix 60mil deadener Here is the DC power alternator installed, I have recently changed the belt so that it doesn't slip at idle when it's raining anymore. The new belt is 1/4 shorter as the DC pulley is the same size as the factory pulley. XS Power D5100R with tool maker terminals Big three upgrade in all Audio Technix silver tinned 1/0 OFC Now to start ripping all the old stuff out.... Car was really dirty at this point... Summer semester was killing me, but I needed some work on my hobby time. I really didn't feel like removing the seats and possibly having an air bag light.. Next post will be the install of all the new goods!!

    It sound really nice, It's not tuned as low as I would like. But it's not bad. Some songs like on my level get a little port noise because of being tuned at 36hz. Some flares might help, but there is no easy way to do them in this box.
  3. I don't think it matters where it comes from, don't be an idiot and use the tool the way it's intended. The research I need is in the 2+ years I have use both devices. The issues I have seen are when people think they are too good for the directions and trying to set the gains with the car off... That is a whole other issue, not just an issue with the SMD products. I own a TPI 440 as well, I have never seen an amp that would clip before the DD-1 said enough is enough. These are my personal results, I will continue to use them until they fail me.
  4. Bench test means nothing, fyi. why not? Mostly because it's in a controlled environment. Once installed in your vehicle, you will NEVER have an controlled environment. Which is why MANY subs failed when gains are set with any SMD tools or any other gimmick used. I have never had an amp or sub fail because of being set with a DD-1 or CC-1. I use them daily to tune and set customers amps.

    Everything is put back together and it sounds much better. Reducing the volume really seemed to help tighten the sound up and even make it louder. Moves way more air now.

    I think it turned out well, I will clean up the wiring more and make the false floor. Then I will like it a lot more, off to the sides look weird with the wires just ziptied back there.

    Thank you! hahaha. Not on purpose... If I had to take a guess, I would say between 20-24 hours. It can't be much more than than, because I started it on a Friday worked for 8 hours. I got up Saturday, worked on it for another 8 hours. Then the following Sunday I worked for 4-5 hours, and then the time I spent yesterday. Maybe a little more, but not much. Small update.. So I walked out to the spray foam this morning and this is what I found.. lololololol Mind of it's own I tell you!! I got it trimmed up and I'm gonna cover it with fiberglass tape and get it resined today or tomorrow. After it dries the rest of the way.

I got a needed step most of the way done tonight. I'm just waiting on the glue and foam to dry so that I can continue forward. As you may have read I had to modify the box to make it work properly. Well That's what I got done tonight, I had to shrink the box from 5.02^ to 4.3^3ish. The subs before sounded like they were beating the back of the box. I was advised that it was just too big for these subs. Here is where I started, made two 8in wide 45's for the corners to help smooth the corner and take up space. Will glass over them tomorrow or the day after, but they are glued, screwed and then glued in again... Then the trick was to cover the spaces in the middle of the box to occupy space. The box I make is 11.75w x 14L x 14.5t So it's roughly .96^3 by itself. I like big gap filler and hate it at the same time. lolol I will check on the drying process here soon and Then hopefully tomorrow I can get the foam carved up and the subs back in after glassing.

So I work with what I have and I'm trying to make it as nice as possible. I'm also kind of a nerd, I love computers and gaming when I have time. I have a build log I will post up shortly.     sure did, I sanded all behind all the bolts on that body brace it is attached to as well. So all the contact points are bare metal, 6 bolts in total bare metal to the body. Makes for a solid ground as it grounds to two sections of the body all at once.

    Thank you as well. I will check it out and see what there is to offer! From the look of it, it looks like great stuff!! I am proud of it per-say.. But I just have this complex than things have to be done for me to be happy about.. I dunno it's weird and potentially a problem I'm for sure going to look into when I do the interior of the car, I want to quite the car as well as stop the vibration. I will read up and make a decision on what to do from there. Thanks again!!

    Few more steps I missed.. Running the wires for RCA's and remote turn on harness from the radio. Power and ground go out the oppisite side of the signal and low amp turn-on wires. Grounded to a frame rail bolt, this works out well.

    Repost. I'm curious as well If the covering on the deadener would have stayed on the foil it wouldn't have been an issue. But because all of the covering is coming off..... It looks like trash and some of the patches I made aren't sticking at all.. Maybe not the worse decision, but deciding to not buy second skin and get this has made me mad.... lol Thanks you sir!! Hopefully I can get it finished soon and be more proud of it for looking great.

    I hated the amps on top of the box. I decided that I needed an amp rack to clean things up.. Still easy to get to the fuses even with the amps mounted. Almost done with the trunk itself, just need to finish the false floor and hide the wires better. Once that is complete I will make the front trim panel and then leave it alone for a while lolololol Let me know what you guys think and you have any suggestions! thank you for looking.

    Step 1 for the build, get the box in and get it sealed. Turned out to be a disaster..lol a funny one at that. Had to cut the tape to get the foam to dry, after 10 hours of sitting behind the tape it was still liquid like. The pipes under the foam was a blessing.. So thankful that I thought of that.. But once the foam dried I was able to get it cleaned up and looking a lot nicer. I then moved on to the battery rack, which changed three times. But this is the general theme. Held in place by the factory spare tire screw. I then got started on the carpet, first time I have ever laid carpet and it looks really nice. I will continue with it in the future. Time to load the subs!! First placement of the amps. I have since moved these as I hated them there. Front is unchanged as of now, I need to make my trim piece for the front. I'm just working out the kinky before I paint that piece and then scratch it up...

    box building time!! I love box building to be honest. I just hate when I mess up the design and make it too big... So now I have to fix it.. All the cuts made. Assembled with the port supports Port in Fiberglassing hard knocks 101.... First time ever. After I sanded it down and painted the back wall final assembly It's smoother in person than it looks. I also got the sub wired up and ready that day as well.

    At this point, I had to get the new gear coming in. I had already bought my SQ 2200D used from a guy on another forum I read. Crescendo RST-1 tweeters, these so amazing I highly recommend them to anyone! I went to the little window spaces for placement and I feel like it was a good choice. The sound is more in your ears now rather than on the floor.. Here are the sub's SQ HDS312's D4 Items for the box build and sealing off the trunk. I needed more battery, I had an XS XP750 in the back for the AT1200.1 and that worked great. But it just wasn't cutting it for the SQ 2200D. So I upgraded to a Northstar NSB-AGM24M Next up was the remote turn on harness, the soundqubed amp doesn't like turning on and off on my deck for some reason so I had to remedy that. This completely solved the issue. More rebuild goodies, SHCA RCA, speaker wire, lugs and heat shrink 1/0 and 4GA Carpet from Parts express Now the box I'am using that has now turned out to be too big. So I need to go inside it and make it smaller. Luckily I have a plan and will be getting that done tonight. Port color Spax!!!! Then I decided that I needed something to do this build the way I wanted too. sony mids which are surprisingly good quality.. Tweeters soldered up and ready to go Knu wiring for the amps and some 10ga speaker wire.

    To run wire in this car the easy way, you have to take the wheel off. But that is much easier than trying to cram you hand into the spot where the clutch plate is to pull wire.... no grommet in this picture, but I promise you it does have one. At this point I took the time to deaden things, because this car loves to rattle. I still have some I need to fix... This turned out to be the worse decision I have ever made.....
