  1. thanks for explaining what to do. i did go back asking about the hissing sound. but the guy explained it was only from aux source. when i tried bluetooth or usb it doesnt hiss, until you play a song, and only during quiet parts can u hear it then. but on aux source it always hisses, even if the music is paused. at first when i was there, i ddint notice it hissing until the songs played during bluetooth, so i agreed with him when he said it was only the aux... but its wrong and now i realize that the right speaker crackles and distorts, when u press any button on the headunit. the speaker crackles slightly if u lightly touch a button, and much louder crackle when u press the button firmly. so its some electrical issue. i went to the shop around 6 weeks ago for install. and then 1 week later for the hissing i noticed. but they didnt fix hissing like i mentioned. so im a bit hesitant to go back and ask again.... they should fix it, but i feel the owner will try to charge me cause hes greedy. he already jumped the price of install up after i got there. and when i called the 1 week after install about the hissing, he tried to blame me saying i kept asking them to raise the gains... but i never once, not once! never spoke to the owner about the gains at all. he tried telling me this when i called him on phone about it, and a second time when i got to the shop in person. both times, i immediately told him, he was wrong and it didnt happen the owner is sort of a jerk and the installer seemed very nice, and helpful when i asked a few questions. he seemed to be knowledgeable, and even mentioned how he has a setup in his vehicle worth over $8,000. so i assumed he knew much more than myself. which he does. but theres still issues. just cause he has an expensive setup doesnt mean he knows much, but i would hope it would count for something more
  2. ok thanks! i assume, i unscrew the 2 screws already in the car. scrape off the paint with a flathead screwdriver then use those materials and screw those back in the same hole? or a new hole? and do i need a power drill?
  3. yea it was a local shop. im quite upset with how the owner does business, very shady and not very honest. the owner and the work being done are sort of different, because i could tell right away the owner doesnt know much at all about this stuff, he relies on his employees to tell him how long anything should take, and the price of things. but yea, the employee did the work so thats this.... i honestly dont know where to start with fixing this ground? what type of parts are you talking about?
  4. ok.... i might try this now, if i understand how to do this correctly. but i think i found the issue. ive been looking things up, and it seems that they did not scrape off the paint when grounding my amplifier.... im assuming this can cause the humming buzz sound when raising the volume. AND when i press buttons on the headunit, the back button to exit the settings, my right speaker crackles loudly.... is this dangerous? its very annoying. also assuming its because of same ground issue.... can leaving the paint on the grounded area cause this issue, such as hissing from speakers and crackling noises when using headunit? so how would i go about removing the pain and then re attaching the ground? i can use a flat head screwdriver to remove the paint. but i dont have any tools really to work with to reattach the screw? do i need a power drill? or can i use a regular screwdriver to place the screws back in the same hole? how long would this take a normal person.... i dont want to deal with the same local shop again... but if it can take only 15 min they should just do it.... i would hope. extra info, in case m5 doesnt want to read my book.... so initially with the RCA left and right properly hooked up, the left speaker sounds much lower and has much less bass than the right speaker. so i swapped the RCAs left to right, to see what would happen. It seems this fixes the problem.... super weird? it seems that both speakers sound pretty okay now.... except, when i raise the volume on headunit without any song playing, there is hissing noise from speakers. and when i balance the sound i can clearly tell that the right speaker has a louder hissing sound. so one speaker hisses much louder than the other.... and i think when i swapped the RCAs, the right speaker is slightly worse sound quality than the left, although its a bit harder to notice. heres a picture, from what i can tell, they didnt sand or scrape off any paint at all... can this be

looks intense and nice. but just curious, do u now no longer have a rear view mirror? and rely only on side mirrors?
  6. just got Rockford Fosgate P1-1X12 its a ported enclosure made by the manufacturer, so i assume its decent enough of a port design for the subwoofer. i know ported makes it so its more difficult to hit fast notes. but i feel it really muddles the notes together and very little separation on fast bass notes. any way to improve this? i believe the gain is set to around 75% and the low pass filter is around 100 hz. the subwoofer is rated at 250 RMS. my amp is bridged and is rated at 300 RMS for the bridge. and the subwoofer is rated at 25-250 hz. would it be better to raise the hz on the low pass filter to around 150 or 200? or should 100 be fine? i was somewhat expecting the subwoofer to rumble and such in the middle of songs. but it seems to be on "standby" during many parts of songs. until a deep bass note hits then it will play. wondering how to make it sound better? thanks!
  7. thanks. yea. i do realize i didnt spend much but was hoping for something slightly different than what i got. but it does produce bass, and doesnt sound extremely horrible. but i do notice the bass from subwoofer lagging behind the music quite a bit. its just extra bump in the song, at quite often, the wrong time
  8. wow... so id have been better off getting a more expensive subwoofer, and a cheap old prefab sealed box? i thought this was a safe assumption that the manufacturer would make a decent box for their sub
  9. ok. i thought u would build a subwoofer ported enclosure based on the specs provided by the manufacturer of the subwoofer? so i would assume that the manufacturer would make their own ported enclosure based on these specs?
  10. can you please correct me where im wrong? im trying to learn or point me in the proper direction, towards a website with good info on this? thats easy enough to understand? thanks
  11. really.... wow fk me... i thought the manufacturer enclosure would be better? cause they themselves made it to sound well? better than another prefabricated box? i got it cause it was cheap. $140 with for sub and box, and i assumed the port was made optimal for the subwoofer? it doesnt sound horrible. but i feel like i guess, i get what i pay for? its a low end subwoofer. but wondering what i can do to make it sound better? what other options might i have had, with a small budget as such? and looking for a subwoofer than can be run off of up to 300 RMS also, of note, i dont have any filter set for the front component speakers. since i just got a subwoofer, should i set a high pass filter for them? if so around what? or is it possible its fine without setting the high pass filter? i tried searching info about subwoofers, and filters and such, but have many mixed opinions. alot of it is just, well do what sounds best... while i understand it can differ, im wondering where to start? maybe give a general idea and i can try it, and then alter it from there? sort of also wondering what is a big No No, something i definitely should not do? so i dont do it without understanding why.
  12. ok thanks. yea it literally just fell apart when i was slightly twisting it, to make it fit into the amplifier hole. so it would slide in easier. i noticed after i put the wire in, that there were tons of tiny pieces of wires all over the front of the amplifier on the surface where it was mounted. i just blew it away.
  13. I am trying to understand out of phase vs in phase? Lets say you have 2 speakers, a left and a right. Can only the left speaker be out of phase, while the right speaker in in phase? Or if the speakers are out of phase, then both will be out of phase, and its not possible to have just one ?
  14. ok thanks lol. ill swap the left and right and see how it sounds, if different, ill keep it as the proper left and right. i only swapped them to test the speakers and see why it might be sounding bad. but i figured it was because one RCA probably wasnt pushed in well enough, might have been slightly loose. and i already had battery connected and it started to rain, so i left left and right inverted. i dont know if i really noticed anything different but i will see. low fatigue life, ill look that up to see what it means? the wire was just used within 1 month ago, not sure if that matters. i know if like, watching a movie, people are talking on right of screen, u should hear sound from right speaker, id assume. but with music i cant see how it would matter too much?
  15. yea when using the balancing feature on headunit it is inverted. but i dont think theres any real noticeable differences? left and right should play nearly identical, correct? and wondering about the copper wire just like falling apart quite rapidly, if thats normal? or a sign of horrible quality wire?
  16. what do you mean? if u dont mind be asking? the rear speakers and run on the headunit. i did not touch the rear speakers. the front speakers are run on the amplifier. and the 2nd set of RCA are for the subwoofer, which i dont have yet. also, the speaker wire copper, seemed to fall apart quite alot when i took it out of the amplifier. is this normal? i just twisted it a slight bit and then placed it inside the whole, and screwed it in place. but it made a bit of a mess with many tiny copper wire pieces.
  17. quick question are these two run by same owners? just curious because in the sound solution audio store there is second skin audio stuff? but both have same acronym SSA? lol maybe a coincidence or not. but just curious? i was watching this old video and they mentioned second skin audio, which got me thinking?
  18. update! so i just found the time do this the following: take off left door panel to see if the speaker was loose and look for anything else that might be loose, and double check the crossover. everything looked fine, as far as i could tell. i then disconnected the negative battery terminal. swapped the polarity at the amplifier for only one speaker. connected battery, and found now it was definently out of phase. lol sounded horrible, even worse. so i think re swapped the speaker to make it back to normal. and i then swapped both RCA cables, cause not sure which is connected to speakers. swapped both RCAs from left to right. so now balancing on headunit to the right, affects the left speaker. BUT, both speakers sound perfect now! im assuming the RCA just was not pushed in firmly.... so, my question is, is it okay to have left and right RCA swapped? it wont cause any harm at all, right? im pretty sure its fine, but just double checking! thanks!

    Need recommendation on components.

400 including the amp? if not, then what amp exactly? id assume the amp must be known before any1 can suggest what speakers to get. you sure you want components for the rear? tweeters are probably not needed in rear.
  20. ok thanks. ill start reading up on this... ugh i hate how i paid to have this installed, and yet im dealing with this issues now. so i wouldnt have to add any extra wires, just unplug some wires from the crossover. then move the crossover outside the pane. and then feed those wires i unplugged through the door, to the crossovers new location? thanks for help.
  21. its probably pretty difficult to move the crossover location? since i dont know much about the wires and such. wondering how long it might take a normal person who knows how to do it? that might give me an idea if i should even attempt it or not? im not sure the tweeters can be played out of phase? i thought with how this tweeter is setup, its just one way. but the woofer can be changed for its phase? since you said the gains look to be done without thought, should i try and fix the gains?
  22. Crossover System: The Alpine CDE-164BT offers a 2-way and 3-way crossover system setup for greater flexibility with various speaker system configurations. 2-Way: Allows you to set up a high-pass and low-pass crossover network for a standard Front, Rear, and Subwoofer speaker setup using either speaker-level or low-level outputs.
  23. yes crossover is in the door sadly. thats why i need to keep taking off the panel. by sibilance im hearing the "S" mostly at the end of words, but also at the beginning of words, sounding piercing and sharp, MUCH more prominent than any other sound and it hurts to listen to when my volume is up high enough to enjoy the other parts of the music. thats why ive used the EQ to drop the range of 4khz to like 8khz quite alot. but still has crazy sibilance. i have no clue why? i keep trying to post the crossover info but keep getting that internal server error, even now.

    Site playing games with me?

cool, thanks. i was never having issues until last night, around 9 or 10 pm eastern time kept getting internal server error when trying to connect to site, maybe this was during the time of the update edit: nevermind still getting this error message... only when im trying to post a certain text it seems. i copy and pasted it, but removed formatting and still doesnt work, just causes this error? when trying to post only parts of the paragraph, i post one part, then edit the post to add more to see whats causing the issue i get this message, "This comment can no longer be edited. It may have been moved or deleted, or too much time may have passed since it was posted for it to be edited. " or this one Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. 25. i keep getting weird error messages, internal server error, when trying to post... maybe cause post is too big lol? when you asked about crossovers, do you mean the tweeter crossover? or the headunit? the tweeter ones at at their lowest setting, - 6db. i dont think theres any other option on that crossover, its a passive one (not sure if that matters) the eq is parametric. the higher end bands are: 6 (1kHz-4kHz), Band 7 (2kHz-7.2kHz), Band 8 (5.8 kHz-12kHz), Band 9 (9kHz-20kHz) i set band 6 to -6 db, band 7 and band 8 are both at -7db, and band 9 is at -2 db. the sibilance is still strong in vocals, but less strong than they are when the EQ is flat. i do loose some sound quality, but i can actually listen to the music at these levels. and what do you mean by the HPF should be at least 40 hz? you mean it should never be lower, right? asking this because earlier you said its a bummer it does not go below 40 hz? i see that the headunit can set its own HPF. id assume its better to choose to alter the headunit or the amp, not both? heres the info about it. i have never altered these. should i use the HPF on the headunit and leave the amp set where it is?
