  1. I currently have a Kenwood Excelon 891 hu and have been happy until now. I'm looking for another clean 24 bit dac, cd, mp3 player. This one is under warrenty getting fixed and thinking about another. I just want a clean sounding quality cd player that can play ipod and sirius. I want sound quality over anything. Any suggestions I'm at a loss on where to go what brand and such. Thinking about Alpine 9887, what do you guys think?

    tons of problems with CDT

Call Ken at CDT tell him what happened upgrade to SatNet- 560 4th order Eliptic xover and get a DRT-26 aluminum tweet. That will handle power and be a nice crisp tweeter. How much power you running?

    CDT Audio- Good or Bad?

Bigjon, What series did you get? I've got the ES series and have had 180 per side on them and sounded great. I only have 100 on them now do to the fact I didn't have a sub in and I was making my ears bleed. I highly recommend the HD or ES series. You can get them with a ten year warrenty, I did. If your just not completely done with cdt I've got someone who can help you out and I promise that he can beat any prices you see on the net. Plus he knows a ton about them and can set you up to match you system perfectly.

    CDT Audio- Good or Bad?

I've had my CDT's for over a year now and love the heck out of them. They are great sounding speakers. I don't think that I would recommend running them from deck power. I would say more like 50 per side on the low side of things. Good luck

    IXL 12

Just ordered can't wait for it to arrive. It's gonna be in center console of my Dodge 2500 Quad Cab Diesel. Does anyone have experience with this driver ported? Please share your thoughts. I've read the reviews of IXL just seeing if anyone else has any thoughts.

    6.5" midrange

I would highly recommend CDT Audio. I have their ES series and love them. I also have a dodge truck. I'm running es 06 6.5 in my doors and have es 04 and tweets in kicks. I would us my es 06 and tweets if I couldn't use a midrange. Great sounding speakers, very smooth with nice midbass. Seal off your doors with second skin build a nice baffle and let them rip. I'm running them active got them crossed over at 80hz and up. On certain songs they will vibrate my mirror. I'm not kidding these little guys will get after it and sound great doing it. I can hook you up with my buddy who is a distributer for them if your interested. Their HD series is awsome also.

    IXL 12

Ok thanks. I gave Mark numbers of box dimensions that I have to work with and he came back with a box of 1.75 after displacement tuned to 32Hz, which sounds like what your recommending. Now on my amp and power issue. Thats a hard one for me because it's a US Amps 100HC. I'm not really sure what this amp does, it's rated at 800 @ 1 ohm. Now a friend of mine use to be a dealer for them back in the day and he said that is should do around 1400. To me that sounds like one hell of a cheater amp. He said he's seen many of them benched and always around that number. Highest was 1500 and change. He did say that that amp was custom ordered had bigger than usual power supplies. I guess you could do that back in the day and get some crazy numbers. I'm guessing if this amp is just your normal 100HC, which nothing tells me different, I'm thinking around 1100-1200. Maybe I'll find someone who can bench it and find out just for giggles. Who knows it's ten years old maybe it will crap out on me and I'll be in the market for a new one. lol. Hoping that it will pair nicely with the IXL and blend good with my front stage.

    New Zed 4x100 Amp

I just called Zed today to see when new line will be rolling. Still not sure thought they would have them out by now. For quality 600 is a steal.

    Install questions

I have 4 gauge power wire going to my two ppi 2100's. I will be adding a US Amps 100 HC for a sub amp. Can I run 4 gauge to it or do I need to step up to 1/0 gauge? Also what would be the perfect set up? What I mean is, I have a diesel truck with two 750 amp batteries and a 136 amp alt. Will this be ok to run this set up? What needs to be changed? Thanks

    Install questions

Two more ?'s. 1.Do I do this to both batteries? 2. And for my engine ground. I understand take to chassis but from where on diesel? Just anywhere from the block or does it have a ground that I need to find? Ok I lied lol 3. For the alt. fuse, what size do I need?

    Install questions

Right on thanks for the input. I've also seen a style of installation called the big 3, what's that? Please explain in a detail that one could do it if needed. For a little info of my system: Kenwood KDC X891 hu, CDT sounds ES 06 mid bass in truck doors with second skin covering entire door, ES 4 and DRT 26 tweets in kick panels. Amps currently on this set up is PPI 2100's one on mid bass and one on 4" and tweets. I will be switching those out and using CDT's new four channel amp. It looks like a nice piece. US Amps will be for a single 12, not sure of brand yet. I'm looking at icon, ixl, and havoc. Sub will be installed in center console while retaining top portion of console. Will prob. port box but I'm still deciding on that. .

Ok thanks where do you guys find your amp wiring kits at cheap prices? I think I'll get 1/0 gauge since the amp should be over 1000 watts. What do you guys find best, go to ebay and piece everything together to wire this up or just buy a kit?

    IXL 10's

I'm wanting to run 2 IXL 10's but I can't figure out how and get a 1 ohm load to my US Amp. I guess I might go with one 12. Chad can't wait until you start your build. I've got an 07 Ram QC.

    teo sub

Looking at treo ssi 12 or ssx 12 are either of these decent subs?
  21. durban

    teo sub

Ok thanks! Hey Jason I guess I know what you mean that's a loaded statement. I like clean hard hitting bass but I don't need people 4 cars away feeling me. Not that a single 12 would do that. I was hoping more people heard these and could comment on what they heard. I know some drivers hit low and hard some not so low or some that really are just a waste of money. Thats all I was looking for so thanks for your reply's and comments. You know, if I had several people have negative comments I would probally save myself the six hr round trip and keep looking. Thanks

    teo sub

Ok box can be from 0 c.f. to 2.5 c.f. It can be sealed or ported. I can rear fire, down fire, up fire but wont do that. So now back to the question is Treo a quality sub? Good for sq but gets loud. I have to drive three hrs to hear one just was curious if anyone can comment something about treo. Maybe bad company horrible customer service just anything. Thanks
  23. durban

    teo sub

I'm not sure if I'll port or go sealed but I'll have 1400 watts to it. I'm doing a center console box down fire. Just wandering if Treo is a quality sub. I've looked at Mach 5 and Mike felt that was a little too much power for just one sub and I don't want to wait for who knows when for the xcon.
  24. I have CDT ES 06 mid bass in my doors, ES 04 and DTR tweets in my kick panels. I'm running a two amp system. 04's and tweets through CDT's crossover 2-way and second amp to my 06's midbass active. I have them banpass through my hu and some 500 hz and down filters. I feel this set up is very nice. In fact, I'll prob. never have a two way system again. Also to save money and get a very clean set up I found some old ppi's on ebay spent around 210 shipped for both of my ppi 2100's. Everything has worked great I get alot of people that can't believe how good it sounds. Hope this helps. Good luck
