I was wondering if it would be possible to use a Q 12 in an infinite baffle setup. I would only be using around 300-400 watts. Any help would be much appreciated. (I know Fi has an IB sub, but since I have the Q already I would like to use it. If not then ill end up selling it and get the IB3 )

Maybe recheck that you wired the sub right?

You could find a nice JBL amp, they usually take a 2 ohm load or higher. Don't remember the model off the top of my head, but one I had did about 1112 at 2 ohms.

You'd want to just use one or the other. Most amplifiers have a flat crossover option, meaning neither the highpass or lowpass are being used. So you can just turn the crossovers off on the amps and use the head unit. Although on the mids, you'll want to bandpass them, so you'll likely have to use one crossover from each the amp and head unit. But that's fine because it won't be the same type of crossover (highpass and lowpass instead of both highpass, for instance). So setting it using both the HU and amp in a bandpass, sets the crossover inbetween the area of the high pass and low pass point?

I plan on buying an active compatible HU, but was wondering how setting crossover points on an HU works? If I am using external amplifiers, with crossover settings, do the settings on the HU ignore those, and just use the settings programed in the HU? Or would I have to set crossover settings on the amp which are equal to those on the HU? Specifically I will be running a US Amps AX-5600. Help is much appreciated. This will be my first active setup.

Haven't been in it professionally, but plan on doing so. Anyone want to share stories on how they started? I'm interestedI got interested when I was watching music videos on MTV and loved the bass from my step dads HT sub. I bought my first pair of subs (Kicker CVR 12's) with my first paycheck from my first job.
sounds alot like me
Pretty the much the only reason why I wanted a car

I am biased , as both will sound great, and that is a great price for the W7. The W7 will wire to 1.5ohm mono and the Icon to 1ohm mono.non biased here, mind you i haven't heard anything from ssa's lineup but i can gurantee you you will NOT be disappointed with the w7, and even if it'll run @ 1.5ohms you'll still be getting plenty of power for that thing to get loud and very clean sounding.
They make a dual 3 12W7?
Isnt the 12 inch a single voice coil?
Last time I checked the only dual voice coil W7 was the 13" with D1.5.

When you own damn near as many nonworking amps as you do working amps with the intention on learning how to fix them (I'm really considereing an EE degree). In the process right now!!

I used JL subs for all my first systems, and loved the SQ from them
But for the shallow mounts, I would choose the RE SLs

I have been looking around for information on this sub, but come up with nothing. Not specifications on it, but whether or not I can run this in a daily setup. I know there are a few people who do run these daily, but those are the larger sizes, 12"s, 15"s, 18"s. I have never heard of anyone running a 10. Would it be fine for daily use, or is it similar to the old BTL 10" to where it was solely for burping purposes? Any help would be great appreciated
